President of Alexandria University Receives the Ambassador of Kuwait
Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, received Mr. Ghanim Al-Ghanim, Ambassador of the State of Kuwait in Cairo, and his accompanying delegation, in the presence of Dr. Saeed Allam, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, Dr. Ali Abdelmohsen, Acting Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs, Dr. Hisham Saeed, Acting Vice President of the University for Graduate Studies and Research, and Dr. Khaled Muhareb, Head of the Cultural Office of the Embassy of Kuwait, with the aim of discussing ways to enhance academic and cultural cooperation between the two sides on topics of common interest.

In his speech, Dr. Konsowa welcomed the Kuwaiti Ambassador and the accompanying delegation, stressing Alexandria University’s keenness to strengthen the bonds of cooperation with the sisterly State of Kuwait in various scientific and cultural fields, and to provide means of care and distinguished educational and research services for Kuwaiti students studying at Alexandria University. He referred to cooperation agreements and protocols, and dual academic degrees with major highly ranked international universities, which contributes to raising the level of education and scientific research at Alexandria University, and raises the competitiveness of its graduates at the international level.

For his part, Ambassador Ghanim Al-Ghanim praised the distinguished scientific and academic level of Alexandria University, stressing the depth of historical relations between the two countries. He also stressed his country’s keenness to develop joint cooperation with Egyptian academic bodies in general and Alexandria University in particular in the areas of educational programs and joint research projects in various academic disciplines.

Alexandria University Organizes Introductory Workshop on Latest Updates of “Study in Egypt” Initiative for Postgraduate International Students
Dr. Hesham Saeed, Acting Vice President of Alexandria University for Postgraduate Studies and Research, participated on Monday the 27th of November 2023, in the workshop to introduce the latest updates regarding the “Study in Egypt” initiative for international students in the postgraduate level.

The workshop took place at the Conference Center of the Faculty of Medicine. It was attended by Dr. Hala Maklad, Director of the Expatriates Department at Alexandria University, Dr. Tamer Abdallah, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, Dr. Iman Youssef, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine for Education and Student Affairs, as well as Faculties' Vice Deans for Postgraduate Studies and Research, and faculty members from various faculties and institutes Alexandria University.
In his speech, Dr. Hesham Saeed stressed that Alexandria University pays special attention to international students, as they are Egypt’s soft power abroad, pointing out that the density of attendance at the workshop reflects the extent of interest in international students. Saeed stressed the necessity of providing the best opportunities for international students to develop their skills and enrich their academic career. He also stressed the need to work to attract international students to study at Alexandria University, facilitate all their enrollment procedures, ensure that they receive a distinguished educational service, and provide all aspects of care to international students coming to study at the university from various countries. He stressed the necessity of facilitating communication processes with them in cooperation with their agencies, such as embassies and consulates of their countries in Egypt, and the Central Administration for Expatriates at Alexandria University, and providing an appropriate environment for them during their studies in Egypt to be the best ambassadors for Egypt upon their return to their countries. At the end of his speech, Saeed expressed his hopes that the workshop will be an opportunity to exchange ideas and experiences that contribute to enhancing teamwork for the benefit international students.

Meanwhile, Dr. Hala Maklad discussed the services provided by the “Study in Egypt” initiative and its objectives, the new services provided by the Department of International Students at Alexandria University, and the factors that attract international students to study at the University, especially since the it currently has partnerships and dual degrees with major international universities. She also addressed the role of the International Students Departments at the university and different faculties, aiming to attract more students, noting that the initiative aims to raise the ranking of Egyptian universities, increase Egypt’s national income, promote Egypt abroad and put it on the global educational tourism map, contribute to improving the ranking of Egyptian universities, and develop sponsorship of the “Study in Egypt” trade mark as an education center in the Middle East. She also stressed the necessity of using electronic marketing to attract international students by developing university and faculty websites.

Alexandria University Organizes Awareness Day for Students Entitled “Facing the Challenge... Facing Immunity Diseases”
Under the auspices of Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, and under the supervision of Dr. Ali Abdelmohsen, Acting Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, the Medical Department for Preventive Affairs at the General Administration of Therapeutic Units at Alexandria University, in cooperation with the Administration of the Alexandria University Students Union at the General Administration of Youth Welfare, and Novartis Company for Pharmaceutical Industries, held an awareness day for university students under the title “Facing the Challenge: Facing Immunity Diseases” at the Youth Welfare Theatre, managed by the University Students Union.
This day aimed to raise awareness of the importance of early detection of various immunity diseases, while shedding light on psoriasis, psoriasis of the joints, autoimmune stiffness of the spine, and hidradenitis suppurativa, and how to identify them and mechanisms for dealing with them. It also aimed to raise awareness of the importance of adopting a healthy lifestyle and adopting sound healthy and nutritional habits, and the essential role that lifestyle plays in combating diseases in general and immunity diseases in particular. The day also included holding football matches to highlight the role of sport in improving the health and psychological condition in general.
The symposium was delivered by Dr. Ashraf Hamza, Professor of Dermatology at the Faculty of Medicine, Dr. Salma Samir, Assistant Professor of Dermatology at the Faculty of Medicine, Dr. Doaa Shaker, consultant for rheumatic rehabilitation and physical therapy at the General Administration of Therapeutic Units, and Dr. Fatma Fayed, immunology specialist at Students’ Hospital.
The general supervision of the day’s activities was carried out by Dr. Omar El-Ebrashi, Director of the Therapeutic Units Department, Mr. Shehab Mahrous, Acting Director General of Youth Welfare, Dr. Maha Hamed Khalifa, Director of the Medical Department for Preventive Affairs, and Dr. Sarah Mohamed Mandour, General Supervisor of Health Education Activities.










Ambassador of the Republic of South Korea Visits Alexandria University
On behalf of Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, Dr. Saeed Allam, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, received Mr. Kim Yonghyon, Ambassador of the Republic of South Korea in Cairo, and his accompanying delegation, with the aim of developing ways of academic and cultural cooperation between the two sides on topics of common interest, and discussing the possibility of establishing the Sejong Institute for teaching South Korean language and culture in coordination with Alexandria University.

The meeting that took place at the university’s headquarters, was attended by Dr. Ali Abdelmohsen, Acting Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs, Dr. Hesham Saeed, Acting Vice President of the University for Graduate Studies and Research, Dr. Ahmed Abdelhakim, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, Dr. Sameh Shehata, Supervisor of the University’s Office of International Relations, Dr. Boshra Salem, Officer in Charge for the University’s International Relations Office, Dr. Gihan Gewaifel, Assistant to the University President for International Universities Branch Affairs, and Dr. Naglaa Abou-Agag, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Arts for Postgraduate Studies and Research.

During the meeting, Dr. Saeed Allam welcomed the Korean ambassador and the accompanying delegation, stressing Alexandria University’s keenness to cooperate with universities in South Korea in various scientific and cultural fields, pointing to Alexandria University’s international relations with highly ranked international universities. He also stressed the university’s keenness to activate the memorandum of understanding signed between the two sides. He expressed his aspiration to increase this cooperation in the areas of exchange of faculty members and students and joint scientific research.

Mr. Kim Yonghyon expressed his pleasure for being at the prestigious Alexandria University, pointing to the distinguished relations between the Republic of South Korea and Egypt in various fields, and the Korean side’s appreciation for the great cultural heritage in Egypt, stressing the keenness of the Korean academic and cultural bodies for joint cooperation with Alexandria University in the areas of educational programs and joint research projects, and the establishment of the Sejong Institute for Teaching South Korean Language and Culture in cooperation and coordination with Alexandria University.








Community Service and Environmental Development Council Forms Committee to Participate in Green Ranking Universities Competition
Alexandria University's Council for Community Service and Environmental Development, headed by Dr. Saeed Allam, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, decided to form a committee of a number of Vice-Deans of faculties to prepare the file of Alexandria University in order to get ready for its participation in the green ranking competition for universities. This came during the Council for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs meeting Thursday morning the grand conference hall at the University headquarters.

The Council was informed of the most important recommendations issued by the World Population Day Health and Development Conference and the importance of the participation of universities to contribute to this regard. The most prominent recommendations were reviewed, such as increasing educational opportunities for the less educated groups to reduce negative phenomena such as child labour, early marriage among girls, and depriving boys of education, which constitute the fundamental causes of the population problems, and activating Egyptian family development programs.

The Vice President of the University thanked all the university’s faculties and institutes for successfully preparing and organizing the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the glorious October War by organizing a large number of seminars and events as well as hosting heroes of the Egyptian Armed Forces and influential figures to encourage the spirit of loyalty and belonging among the university’s students.

The Council reviewed the report submitted by Dr. Wafaa El-Sehli, Professor at the Faculty of Medicine, on organizing a number of integrated medical service convoys to “Halab Village, Alexandria-Cairo Desert Road, Abis 7 Health Unit, Abis 8 Health Unit” to serve the people of the villages in the areas that are in utmost need for various medical specialties. The convoys services included dispensing medications and transferring some cases to the main university hospital.

Dr. Saeed Allam praised the faculties of the educational sector at the university, for their organization of the the exhibition “The Glorious October Victory” to employ environmental materials from a sustainability perspective, and the childhood education department students in the faculties of the educational sector at the university who used environmental materials to create designs and models that express the epic of the glorious October victory, with the participation of the university youth organization, as well as kindergarten children and their supervisors perform some military parades.


The Council discussed the Faculty of Education’s report on eradicating illiteracy, the number of classes that were opened, the most important obstacles facing the university and students, and ways to overcome them, with full coordination between the five faculties of the educational sector.


The Council reviewed several activities, workshops, seminars, initiatives and courses in the university’s faculties that took place during the months of October and November.
