Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, received Professor Li Wentang, Vice President of the Central Party School of the Chinese Communist Party (Chinese National Academy of the Communist Party of China) and a well-known academic researcher involved in interdisciplinary research in the fields of humanities and social policy, and his accompanying delegation. The meeting aimed to discuss academic and cultural cooperation opportunities between the two sides, and the exchange of opinions, ideas and experiences in the fields of social and human sciences, international relations and topics of common interest.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Hesham Saeed, Vice President of Alexandria University for Graduate Studies and Research, Dr. Sameh Shehata, supervisor of the University’s Office of International Relations, Dr. Bushra Salem, Head of the International Relations Office, Dr. Naglaa Abou-Agag, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Arts for Postgraduate Studies and Research, Dr. Walid Abdelazim, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Engineering for Community Service and Environmental Development, Dr. Sherine Adel, Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Economic Studies and Political Sciences for Postgraduate Studies and Research, Dr. Lana Habib, Executive Director of the Teaching Arabic Language to Foreigners Centre (TAFL), and Dr. Doha Magdy, lecturer at the Chinese Language Department, Faculty of Arts.

In his speech, Dr. Konsowa welcomed the Chinese guests to Alexandria University, expressing his appreciation for the great Chinese civilization and the tremendous progress in the fields of technical and social sciences. He stressed the university’s keenness to consolidate cooperation with Chinese academic and cultural bodies, activate the agreements signed between the two sides in various fields, and discuss the possibility of establishing joint scientific degrees, research cooperation, and exchange of faculty members and students in light of the strength of Egyptian Chinese relations under the patronage of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Professor Li Wentang expressed his pleasure for being at the prestigious Alexandria University, pointing to the deep relations between Egypt and China and his appreciation for the great Egyptian civilization and the development boom taking place in Egypt in various fields during the era of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. He explained that the Central Party School of the Chinese Communist Party (the Chinese National Academy of Governance) includes 12 colleges specialized in the fields of humanities and social sciences, which develops and qualifies young, middle and senior competencies and cadres for leadership in all Chinese provinces and institutions. He stressed the keenness of his institution on scientific, academic, and cultural cooperation with Egyptian universities in general and Alexandria University in particular in the humanities and social sciences of common interest, within the framework of Silk Belt Initiative.

The meeting included a presentation on the history of Alexandria University, its material and human capabilities in the field of education and scientific research, and its international relations with highly ranked international universities, as well as its international campuses outside Egypt in South Sudan and Chad.
