Alexandria University Receives Fulbright Commission Delegation to Discuss Cooperation
Today, Thursday, March 21, 2024, Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, received a Fulbright Commission delegation headed by Dr. Maggie Nassif, Executive Director of the Commission, to discuss and enhance ways of research and academic cooperation between the two sides, introduce Fulbright grants for research and study in the United States of America, and contribute to enhancing and developing the skills of researchers and faculty members at Alexandria University.
The meeting was attended by the Vice Presidents of the University, the Deans of Faculties and Institutes of Alexandria University, and officials of the International Relations Office, Foreign University Branches, and the University’s Project Management Unit.
During the meeting, Dr. Konsowa stressed Alexandria University’s keenness on itsclose relations with the Fulbright Commission in Egypt, explaining that the university always seeks to cooperate with the commission to introduce researchers and faculty members to the grants offered by the commission, pointing out that there will be cooperation through the commission with American universities that have dual academic degrees with Alexandria University to study or cooperate in research for a period of one or two semesters. He also pointed out that cooperation mechanisms were discussed in various scientific and academic fields, including the fields of medicine, engineering, arts, architecture, nursing, information technology, humanities, law, and business, by bringing in experts from the United States of America for training, teaching, and transferring experiences.
While Dr. Maggie Nassif stressed the depth of the relations between Alexandria University and the Fulbright Commission, given the distinguished reputation that Alexandria University enjoys at the international level, praising the university’s role in developing scientific research, improving the quality of the educational process, and constantly working to develop its human resources and keeping pace with global scientific developments in various specializations. Dr. Nassif also reviewed the scholarships provided by the Fulbright Commission are to study, conduct research, and train in the United States of America.
During the meeting, the programs and opportunities provided by the Comission to researchers and faculty members to develop their skills were reviewed, including master’s and doctoral programs.
Alexandria University’s Choir Festival Competition Results Announced for Group and Solo Performance
Within the framework of Alexandria University’s keenness to encourage students to engage in student activities, and under the auspices of Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of the University, and Dr. Ali Abdelmohsen, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs, the results of the Choir Festival Competition in Group and Solo Singing for University Faculties, were announced. The competition that was organized by the Department of Artistic and Cultural Activity at the General Administration of Youth Welfare for students of various faculties, aimed at discovering their talents and providing them with the opportunity to practice activities within the university. Each faculty presented a show that included individual and group singing and a duet.
The jury, which included Professor Dr. Mahmoud Bayoumi, former Dean of the Conservatory Institute, Professor Dr. Baheya El-Ekhriti, former Dean of the Faculty of Specific Education, and Dr. Sherihan El-Heddini, Lecturer of Western Solfege and coach of the university’s choir team, revealed the result of the competition, where the Faculty of Education came in first place for the fifth year in a row, the Faculty of business came in second place, the Faculty of Physical Education for Boys and the Faculty of Physical Education for Girls came in third place, and the Faculty of Arts came in fourth place, while the Faculty of Economic Studies and Political Science was ranked fifth.
Students from different faculties also achieved different positions in solo singing and duet in the festival, which took place under the supervision of Mr. Shihab Mahrous, Acting Director General of the General Administration for Youth Welfare, and Ms. Noha Nadi, Director of the Department of Cultural and Artistic Activity.
Graduate Studies and Research Council Forms Committee to Unify Graduate Certificates Format in Alexandria University Faculties and Institutes
Dr. Hesham Saeed, Vice President of Alexandria University for Graduate Studies and Research, confirmed during the Graduate Studies and Research Council meeting held this morning, Tuesday, March 19, 2024, that a committee will be formed to unify the form of certificates for graduate studies and research at the level of faculties and institutes of Alexandria University. He pointed out that the committee will also be responsible for unifying the translation of these certificates in English so that they are compatible with the Arabic language of the certificates, stressing that the best design will be achieved so that it is unified in a way that suits Alexandria University and its students.
The Council approved a memorandum of understanding between Alexandria University and the General Authority for Health Accreditation and Control, regarding preparing qualified human cadres to provide safe and high-quality health care services in accordance with the accreditation standards issued by the Authority and internationally accredited by the International Society for Healthcare Quality. The Council also approved a memorandum of cooperation between the Faculty of Business and Bournemouth University, concerned with student exchange during the coming summer for training and joint research. The Council also approved a memorandum of understanding between Alexandria University and Lovely Professional University, Phagwara, India regarding cooperation in the fields of science and arts. The Council also approved a memorandum of understanding between the Faculty of Business, Alexandria University, and the National Centre for Research in Cairo to provide professional programs through the Centre for Training and Capacity Development of the National Centre.
The Council was also informed of the report submitted by Dr. Amal Khalifa, General Supervisor of the General Administration of Library Affairs, on the visit to the restoration laboratory of the Grand Egyptian Museum, and the report on the visit to the restoration laboratory of the Museum of Islamic Art
Education and Student Affairs Council at Alexandria University Follows-up Initiative to Develop University Laboratories
Dr. Ali Abdelmohsen, Acting Vice President of Alexandria University for Education and Student Affairs thanked the deans and vice deans of the faculties, during the Education and Student Affairs Council meeting, for the effort made in reviewing and evaluating laboratories and equipment, performing maintenance or replacement work on the equipment, and purchasing new equipment, within the initiative to develop laboratories in all faculties.
Dr. Ali Abdelmohsen congratulated Dr. Islam Amin Zaki, Professor at the Faculty of Physical Education for Boys, on the decision of Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of the University, to appoint him as Acting Vice Dean of the Faculty of Physical Education for Boys for Education and Student Affairs, wishing him success and progress.
The Council agreed to form a committee to study the letter of Professor Dr. General Secretary of the Supreme Council of Universities to develop appropriate proposals and recommendations regarding insured certificates, the speed of their authentication, and solving the problems facing them.
The Council was informed of the letter of Professor Dr. General Secretary of the Supreme Council of Universities regarding submitting the proposed number of students to be admitted to the university’s faculties for the academic year 2024/2025.
Dentistry Program at Alexandria National University Celebrates World Oral and Dental Health Day
Under the auspices of Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, and the supervision and guidance of Dr. Mahmoud El-Kheshen, Academic Supervisor of Alexandria National University, the Dentistry Program at Alexandria National University, in cooperation with the Faculty of Dentistry, Alexandria University, celebrated World Oral and Dental Health Day, which comes on the 20th of March, by organizing a day to raise awareness of oral health and dental care for students at the National University in Abis, in which about 600 students from the National University participated.
Dentistry program students participated in organizing the day, and a group of the supporting staff and faculty members at Alexandria University presented the scientific material to the students, and some samples of toothbrushes and toothpaste were distributed to the participants.
