Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, issued the following decrees:
 
 
• Appointment of Dr. Tamer Abdullah Helmy Gomaa Mukhaimer, Professor, Department of Critical Medicine, Faculty of Medicine and Executive Director of University Hospitals, as Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development for a period of three years.

• Appointing Dr. Ibrahim Abbas Al-Sayed Ibrahim - Professor and Head of the Plant Production Department at the faculty of Agriculture- Saba Pasha, as Vice-Dean of the College for Postgraduate Studies and Research for a period of three years.

Under the auspices of Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of the University, the Faculty of Agriculture in Shatby hosted today, Sunday the 27th of August 2023, at the closing ceremony and distribution of certificates to students of the Faculties of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine at the University’s branch in Ndjamena - Chad, who were hosted by Alexandria University for a period of 4 weeks for intensive training in the laboratories of the two faculties. During the training, the students participated in veterinary convoys, and visited some of the major farms and agricultural and veterinary bodies within the scope of Alexandria governorate, with the aim of enhancing their skills and qualifying them for the labour market. In addition, a cultural and recreational program was organised for them, as well as field training to introduce the history of Egypt and Alexandria.

The certificates were distributed to the students by Dr. Mohamed Bahi El-Din Mohamed, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Dr. Sami Khalil, Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, and Dr. Mohamed Ahmed Abdallah Zaki, Coordinator of the Alexandria University Branch in N'Djamena.

For their part, the students praised the warm reception at Alexandria University, the seriousness and quality of the training, and thanked the university leaders for hosting the students for a full month scholarship.
 
 
The students appealed to the university leaders to obtain scholarships for postgraduate studies in order to continue their association with their alma mater, Alexandria University, and to complete their educational attainment after obtaining a bachelor's degree during the next few months.

Dr. Saeed Allam, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Acting Vice President of Alexandria University for Community Service and Environmental Development, confirmed that the sector is in the process of forming a committee of the faculties' vice-deans concerned with the green ranking and preparing for it during the coming period in order for Alexandria University to be ready to participate in the green classification of universities. This came during the convening of the Community Service Council and Environment Development, on Thursday the 24 of August in the meeting hall at the University headquarters.

• Dr. Dina Saadallah, Executive Director of the Career Development Centers at the University, reviewed the services provided by the Centers, explaining the role of the CDC main center, which manages and supervises the tasks of the 3 centers at the Faculties of Commerce, Engineering and Education and their role in qualifying students for the labour market and helping graduates to obtain suitable work opportunities through training courses, field visits, and practical exercises. It also qualifies them for the labour market through cooperation with a number of large companies.

• The council reviewed the report submitted by the Faculty of Medicine on the organization of the medical convoy to the Kom Hamada area in Beheira governorate during the month of July 2023, with the participation of 50 students from the faculties of medicine, dentistry, pharmacy and 9 specialized doctors.
 
 
 
The total number of cases reached 390 cases in various medical specialties with the transfer of critical conditions cases to the Main University Hospital.
 
 
 
• The council reviewed the report submitted by the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine on the medical service training convoy, which amounted to 9 convoys to the villages of Abis.

• The council discussed a number of community activities, events and seminars presented during the months of July and August in the faculties of Physical Education for Boys, Nursing, Early Childhood Education, and Economic Studies & Political Science.

Under the auspices of Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, and Dr. Wael Nabil, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, Alexandria University hosted, for the sixth year in a row, representatives of 21 public universities, including presidents and vice presidents of Egyptian universities' student unions, at the university camp in Bagoush, where the activities of the annual camp were held, to prepare student cadres at the university level.

Dr. Mohamed Bahey El-Din, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture and supervisor of the events, indicated that this camp is one of the most important activities that are implemented at this top level in universities. The Alexandria University Student Union participated in the preparation for it, headed by the student Omar Afifi, president of the union, over a period of several months, and it included several workshops in addition to sports and cultural competitions.

Under the auspices of Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, and Dr. Nevine El Kabbaj, Minister of Social Solidarity, the Social Solidarity Unit at the university has launched a package of training programs for students wishing to establish productive projects during their studies at the university, as part of the Productive Student Initiative launched by the Ministry of Social Solidarity. The training workshops include handicrafts, crochet, wax crafts, macrame, decorations, flowers arrangement, accessories, arabesque woodwork, drawing and shaping sand, hoop work, embroidery and detailing, designing clothes, making cosmetics and perfumes, ceramics, carpets, kilims and pottery, recycling, and resin. These workshops will continue in cooperation with the Taha Hussein Centre for Students with Disabilities at the university until the 20th of September.
 
 
 
The Productive Student Initiative aims to refine the students’ character, support their financial and social independence, develop the spirit of innovation and creativity, and encourage them to invest in their skills and abilities. These courses represent an opportunity for students to obtain the necessary knowledge and expertise to implement productive projects that generate continuous income.
 
 
 
Dr. Salah Hashem, General Coordinator of Social Solidarity Units in Egyptian Universities, indicated that the initiative aims to train 10,000 students during the summer vacation. Training courses are being implemented in the fields of feasibility study, marketing, financial inclusion, as well as traditional arts and handicrafts. The Ministry of Social Solidarity offers grants ranging between 10 thousand to 15 thousand pounds per project, with a total of 5,000 productive projects. The activities of the initiative will be concluded by holding a bazaar to display to students the output of these productive projects, in cooperation with the products of fraternities within each university. This will take place at the end of the summer vacation and the beginning of the new academic year. The participating students will be granted a certificate for passing the training courses, grant-winning projects are also selected through committees formed by the Ministry of Solidarity in cooperation with environmental affairs sectors in various universities. Applications of students wishing to participate in training grants will be received at the headquarters of the social solidarity units in universities.
