Under the auspices of Professor Dr. Mohamed Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, and with the sponsorship of the Innovators Support Fund (ISF), the 2024 Startups Olympics competition concluded at Alexandria University, in the presence of university members, professors, administrators and students.
 
 
 
 
In his speech, Professor Dr. Sayed El-Seifi, Dean of the Faculty of Business, which hosted the competition, stressed the importance of this Olympiad as a means of supporting and embracing young innovators, researchers and students who have innovative ideas and seek to develop them and transform them into a real business model and establish start-up companies, in accordance with the National Strategy for Science, Technology and Innovation 2030.
 
 
 
Dr. Mohamed El-Farran, the representative of the Innovators Support Fund (ISF) for student and researcher tracks, confirmed that the competition comes to achieve the fund's goals in sponsoring innovators and pioneers, and to achieve the axes of the national strategy for higher education and scientific research, especially the axis of communication and integration between higher education and scientific research institutions.
 
 
 
 
 
Dr. Ghada El-Khayat, Executive Director of the Centre for Educational Innovations and Distance Learning, Director of the PILOT Incubator, and Coordinator of the Innovators Support Fund (ISF) at Alexandria University, reviewed the stages of intensive training for the teams, explaining that Alexandria University participated in the competition with the largest number of teams among all Egyptian universities.
 
 
 
 
At the end of the events, the results were announced, and the winners' checks were delivered in the largest entrepreneurship competition of Alexandria University, as follows:
 
 
 
 
** From the Students' Track: **
• The first prize worth 18,000 pounds, won by the team Call Services (Zajil)
The team consists of:
- Youssef Ahmed Sayed Ismail Mohamed, Faculty of Business, MIS Department
- Abdel Rahman Nasr Farag Al-Saidi, Abu Qir Institute MIS
- Nader Yasser Ibrahim El-Shafei, Faculty of Education, IT Department
- Dr. Atef Zaki Ahmed Kersha, Professor at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Alexandria University
• The second prize worth twelve thousand pounds, won by the team Skill Swapping
The team consists of:
Mariam Mohamed Farid, Mustafa Salah Mohamed, Yasmine Ashraf Saad, Habiba Maged Mohamed, and Rowan Wael. All of them are students at the Faculty of Science, Alexandria University.
• The third prize worth 10,000 pounds, won by the Up Skill team
The team consists of:
Farah Bassem, Mahmoud Ghanima, Nour El-Hoda Ahmed, Nabil Yaqout, Nermin Hassan El-Hendi, Ziad Khedewi Ahmed, Mohamed Hani Mohamed, and Mohamed Raafat Mohamed, all of whom are students at the Faculty of Computers and Data Sciences, Business Analytics Program, Alexandria University.
** From the Researchers Track: **
• The first prize worth 25,000 pounds, won by the El KASHF team
The team consists of:
- Amira Ahmed Youssef Abdo, Master’s researcher, Faculty of Education
- Ahmed Ali Sharqawi Fares, Human Resources researcher, Faculty of Business, Alexandria University
• The second prize worth 20,000 pounds, went to the FSSD team
The team consists of:
- Dr. Duaa Ahmed Gharib, Professor at the Faculty of Science, Alexandria University
- Dr. Marwa Yehia Qenawi, Researcher at the City of Scientific Research and Technological Applications
- Dr. Ahmed Zaki Abdeen, Researcher at the City of Scientific Research and Technological Applications
- Dr. Miral Gamal El-Din Abdelwahab, Lecturer at the Faculty of Industrial and Energy Technology, Tiba Technological University
• The third prize, worth 15,000 pounds, was for the team Power Guard
The team consists of:
- Dr. Wael Ahmed El-Sayed Hemeida Hashima, Professor at the Faculty of Engineering, Alexandria University
- Dr. Mohamed Ahmed Abdelhakam Abdelmotagalli, Lecturer at the Faculty of Engineering, Alexandria University
- Engineer Mohamed Sami El-Sawy El-Rafaei, Engineer, Faculty of Engineering, Alexandria University
Alexandria University is scheduled to participate on July 28th in the regional qualifiers of the 2024 Startup Olympics competition, between universities and research centres of northern Egypt.
