Under the auspices of Dr. Abdelaziz Konswa, President of Alexandria University, the University’s Department of Cultural and Artistic Activities participated in the International Theater Festival with the show “Grace,” the show that won second place in the Ibdaa 11 competition. The show was presented by the university’s team for theatrical arts. A large number of public and private universities participated in the show, and higher institutes.

On behalf of Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, Dr. Ali Abdelmohsen, Acting Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs, signed a joint cooperation protocol with “Misr El Kheir” Foundation within the activities of “Ibn El-Sabil” program, with the aim of contributing to supporting student activities in university campuses and helping expatriate students who are unable to pay tuition and accommodation fees in university dorms, and who meet the program criteria for the academic year 2023/2024.

The protocol includes the Misr El Kheir Foundation’s contribution to supporting student activities in university campuses to achieve the maximum benefit for the largest number of students and supporting student competitions in various cultural and sporting student activities, in addition to paying tuition fees for 120 financially-challenged students.

Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, received Mr. David Sadoulet, the French Cultural advisor in Cairo, and his accompanying delegation, in the presence of Dr. Saeed Allam, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development, Dr. Ali Abdelmohsen, Acting Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs, Dr. Hisham. Saeed, Acting Vice President of the University for Graduate Studies and Research, and Dr. Abeer El-Wakil, responsible for Francophone relations in the University’s Office of International Relations, with the aim of developing ways of academic and cultural cooperation between the two sides on topics of common interest.
 
 
 
During the meeting, Dr. Konsowa welcomed the French delegation, stressing Alexandria University’s keenness to consolidate cooperation with France in various scientific and cultural fields, noting the extended relations and shared academic degrees with many French universities, such as the universities of Poitiers, Bordeaux, and Aix-Marseille. He highlighted Alexandria University’s distinction in having departments conducting studies in French language in several faculties, in addition to the university’s branch in Chad, for French-speaking students on the African continent. The University President expressed his aspiration to increase this cooperation in the fields of education, scientific research, innovation, and joint academic degrees for the bachelor’s and postgraduate levels.
 
 
 
Mr. David Sadoulet praised the distinguished level of Alexandria University, stressing France’s keenness on joint cooperation with Egyptian universities in general and Alexandria University in particular, in the areas of educational programs and joint research projects in various academic specializations.

Alexandria University’s Council of Graduate Studies and Research met on Monday, the 23rd of October 2023, headed by Dr. Hesham Saeed, Acting Vice President of the University for Graduate Studies and Research Affairs, where it discussed the rules governing the judging committees for master’s and doctoral theses at Alexandria University.
 
 
•The Council also discussed the topics on the agenda and the follow-up of registration for postgraduate studies. The Council also approved granting master’s and doctoral degrees to several theses.

Dr. Hesham Saeed also directed that the Egyptian Japanese Education Initiative be circulated (semester, or academic year) to the faculties’ vice-deans for postgraduate studies and research. Saeed indicated that the Ministry of Higher Education is in the process of announcing a human resources development project in the health and education sectors (EJEP-HRDP) to achieve the maximum benefit from investment in human resources in both the health and education sectors, and to raise the level of performance and develop human capabilities.
 
 
 
The Council approved the cooperation agreement between Alexandria University and the University of East London in the UK, and the cooperation agreement between Alexandria University and Nanjing Agricultural University in China.

Dr. Saeed Allam, Vice President of Alexandria University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, stressed the need for faculty deans to conduct a complete evaluation of all occupational safety and health units at the university’s faculties and institutes, reviewing all devices and tools, conducting adequate human resources training, and developing plans based on a scientific basis in line with technical developments. This came during the meeting of the Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs Council in the grand meeting hall at the University’s headquarters.

 Dr. Allam reviewed the results of the meeting he attended with the Environment Committee in the Rotary District of Egypt 2451, in the presence of Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, University President, to cooperate in sustainable environmental projects within the university’s campuses, which included separating solid waste from the source, creating an implementation model in one of the university’s faculties, and rationalizing water consumption by providing drinking water dispensers, planting trees and increasing green landscape within the university.
 
 
 
 The Council congratulated the Faculty of Engineering on its project “Integrated Strategy for Rainwater Management in Alexandria” winning first place at the Alexandria Governorate level in the National Initiative for Smart Green Projects 2023, Major Projects category.
 
 
 
 The Council also congratulated the Faculty of Pharmacy for its project “Green Cycle” winning first place at the level of Alexandria Governorate in the National Initiative for Smart Green Projects 2023 in the category of non-profit initiatives and projects.
 
 
 
 The Council reviewed the report submitted by Dr. Wafaa El-Sehli, Professor at the Faculty of Medicine, about the university’s organization of a comprehensive medical convoy to the Halab area at kilometre 57 on the Alexandria-Cairo Desert Road, in partnership with the Alexandria Leo Apollo Club, where 9 human doctors, 4 dentists, 50 organizers from the Leo Alexandria Club, and 6 students from the “Doctor for You” fraternity participated. The convoy included participants from various medical specialties, and the number of cases that were examined reached 398 cases, with free medicines being provided to patients.
 
 
 
 It was presented during the council that the faculties of science, early childhood education, and specific education participated in the presidential “100 Days of Health” initiative to detect blood pressure, diabetes, women’s health, and early detection of cancerous tumours for the faculties’ employees.
 
 
 
 The Council reviewed the research project submitted by Dr. Hanan Mustafa Abdallah, lecturer at the Institute of Graduate Studies and Research, entitled “Enhancing Resource Recovery and Improving the Recycling of Wastewater through Synergistic Cooperation between Bio electrochemical Systems and Forward Osmosis.”
 
 
 The Council also reviewed several faculties’ activities, workshops, seminars, initiatives and training programs that took place during the months of September and October 2023.
