Starting studies in the dual degree program in cooperation between University of Alexandria and the University of Essex for students enrolled in the Computer and Communications Engineering program
First batch of Faculty of Engineering students from the computer and communications engineering program enroll in the 4+1 dual degree program with the University of Essex and arrive at the University of Essex campus to start their studies.
The agreement between Alexandria University and the University of Essex allows Faculty of Engineering students from the computer and communications engineering program, mechatronics and robotics engineering program and electromechanical engineering program to obtain a Bachelors degree from Alexandria University and a Masters degree from the University of Essex, where the student studies 4 years (8 semesters) at Alexandria University followed by 1 year at the University of Essex.
Symposium Entitled “October War: Lessons Learned”
Within the framework of the cultural season of the Faculty of Law, Alexandria University, and in cooperation with Bibliotheca Alexandrina, a symposium was held today, Monday the 9th of October, under the title “The October War: Lessons Learned,” where the guest speaker was Dr. Mufid Shehab, former Minister of Higher Education and member of the Taba Defense Authority. The event took place in the presence of Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, Dr. Ahmed Zayed, Director of Bibliotheca Alexandrina, Dr. Saeed Allam, Acting Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, Dr. Ali Abdelmohsen, Acting Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs, Dr. Mohamed El-Feki, Dean of the Faculty of Law, as well as former presidents of Alexandria University, parliament members, faculty members, students, and members of the Alexandria University Youth Organization.
At the beginning of his speech, Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa welcomed Dr. Mufid Shehab, stressing his great national value, which contributed greatly to the restoration of the land of Taba through a legal battle written in history with letters of light. Dr. Konsowa stressed that the October War was a war to restore pride and dignity, pointing out that Alexandria University is celebrating the golden jubilee of the October Victory throughout this month by holding seminars and cultural events in all faculties and institutes of the university to introduce students to the victories of the October War, and to introduce the current generation to the Egyptian glories and heroics in that great war to gain inspiration. Recalling the spirit of October, Konsowa confirmed that the university is in the process of preparing a biography of all the emeritus professors at Alexandria University who participated in the War of Attrition and the October War, so that the current generation can learn about the stories of their heroism and learn from them determination, patience, and perseverance, pointing out that it is not an easy job to build a nation, but rather requires effort and sacrifice.
Dr. Konsowa pointed out that the great Egyptian army is capable of deterrence and protection of the homeland, as no one can approach the land of Egypt, stressing that the Egyptian state was endowed by God with national leaders that would not spare a single grain of sand from the homeland. He added that the late President Anwar Sadat began by the decision of the October War in 1973, and then the late president Mohamed Hosni Mubarak continued the path to restore the land through all peaceful means, then President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi came to complete the process of construction and development to inaugurate a new republic that every Egyptian dreams of.
While Dr. Mufid Shehab spoke about the legal battle to reclaim Taba, stressing that the liberation of Taba is an eternal memory and engraved in the minds of all Egyptians. He explained that the legal battle for Taba began when Israel was reluctant to withdraw from some vital and strategic areas, including the Taba region, noting that a 25-member legal committee was formed to restore Taba, adding that he contributed to the preparation, pleading, and testimony before the court until the issuance of the court ruling of the restoration of Taba. He explained that Egypt defended her right in a sound scientific manner, and presented the legal memorandums before international courts in an objective manner.
Dr. Shehab stressed that all Egyptians have the right to feel proud of the victories of October 6, which were the main factor that paved the way for the complete liberation of Sinai through negotiations that ended with the signing of the peace treaty. He added that we must also be well aware of the lessons learned from defeat and victory. He also stressed that he is happy with the presence of a cultural season at the Faculty of Law at Alexandria University, pointing out that the university’s role is not only education, but it also has a role in political education and serving national issues. Dr. Shehab also stressed that the October victory was a battle to eliminate defeat and despair, as the six years that preceded the victory in 1973 witnessed lean years, but with determination and persistence, the Egyptian Armed Forces were able to restore dignity to the Egyptian people.
While Dr. Ahmed Zayed expressed his utmost pleasure with the great cooperation between Alexandria University and Bibliotheca Alexandrina in organizing such educational seminars that would educate students about the victories of the glorious October War, stressing the value and role of Dr. Shehab, who did a lot for the Egyptian state, and his efforts to restore rights legally without any more wars or losses. Dr. Zayed confirmed that the victories of the October War left us with more lessons learned that we must take into account, especially as we are on the cusp of building a new republic.
While Dr. Mohamed Al-Feki stressed that the October victory is a victory that we must always be proud of and narrate to successive generations, with all dignity and pride, stressing that October 6th is a day recorded by the nation’s martyrs, members of the armed forces who sacrificed their blood to make this day a prominent mark in the history of Egypt and the Arab nation. He pointed out that the Faculty of Law used to open its cultural season every year with an important symposium that touched on one of the topics of interest to society, and the best start for this season was to coincide with the celebration of Victory Day of our beloved Egypt and the Arab nation. He pointed out that an important topic was chosen, which is the Battle of Taba, the legal battle that followed the October victory, in which determination and will were embodied and supported by the weapon of knowledge and intellect, its arena witnessed a diplomatic and legal epic whose title was the Taba Epic, in which the opponent could not help but see himself defeated before the power and solidity of truth.
Alexandria University signed a cooperation agreement with Lubin School of
Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, signed via the internet with Dr. Martin Krislov, President of the American Pace University, a cooperation agreement between the Faculty of Business, Alexandria University, and the Lubin School of Business, Pace University in New York, the United States of America, with the aim of establishing joint academic degrees between the two universities at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa pointed out that the agreement comes within the framework of Alexandria University’s endeavor to internationalize university education, support the strategy and plan for expansion and transformation that the university is witnessing, and create partnerships with international universities that have a distinguished international ranking. Konsowa stressed that the agreement allows students at the Faculty of Business at Alexandria University to study for two years at their Alma Mater, and then study for two years at the Lubin School of Business at Pace University in the United States of America, adding that under this agreement, students will also be able to enroll in the Master's program in Accounting or Accounting Analytics after obtaining a dual degree from the two universities. Konsowa indicated that this agreement is an exceptional opportunity for students of the Faculty of Business at Alexandria University to obtain studies in the United States of America, as well as to provide them with the necessary experience that qualifies them for the international, regional and local labor market, pointing out that Pace University is a prestigious university and is classified among the best universities in the United States of America.
Dr. Al-Sayed Al-Saifi, Dean of the faculty of Business, indicated that the faculty has 7,000 students registered in the accounting program from third and fourth-level students, who will be able to benefit from this agreement, explaining that the faculty has obtained accreditation from the Association of Certified Public Accountants (ACCA), and thus it is the first program An internationally accredited Egyptian government bachelor’s degree. He pointed out that Pace University is one of the prestigious universities that was founded in 1906, and has three university branches in three strategic locations in and around New York City.

President of Alexandria University Inspects Progress of the Educational Process on the First Day of the New academic year
Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, on the morning of Saturday the 30th of September 2023, inspected the progress of studies in the university’s faculties and institutes on the first day of the new academic year. The tour began with the Medical Complex, followed by the Humanities Complex. He was accompanied during the tour by Dr. Saeed Allam, Acting Vice President of the University for Environmental Development Affairs and Community Service, and Dr. Ali Abdelmohsen, the Acting Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs, as well as deans, vice-deans and secretaries of the various faculties.
During the tour, the University President congratulated the faculty members, students and workers, wishing all its employees success and prosperity during the new academic year. He also inspected the annual bazaar of Alexandria University, which begins tomorrow and is held in cooperation with "Ehna El-Khair" (We are the good) Foundation, and includes a collection of clothing, leather goods, study supplies, and office tools to serve students and workers. The fair that is organized at the university campus will last for two weeks.
Dr. Konsowa pointed out that the university receives about 190,000 students this year in various faculties and academic specializations, and the faculties during the past two weeks have organized for their fresh students introductory meetings that include a comprehensive introduction to the faculties’ specializations and the various university procedures and services that the university provides to students. He pointed out that Alexandria University has harnessed all its capabilities and energy in terms of equipment, infrastructure, buildings and services to receive students, announcing the launch of the university’s new strategy that is consistent with Egypt’s national development strategy launched by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi for Egypt’s Vision 2030 by concluding partnerships with major international universities to raise the competitiveness of Alexandria University students. Konsowa stressed that this year is the year of modernization of the laboratories for the bachelor’s level at the university, as laboratories at the faculties of the medical and scientific sectors as well as language and computer laboratories for the humanities sector will be updated, pointing out that the university’s new strategy requires everyone’s contribution to achieving it to continue progress in international classifications.
At the end of the tour, Dr. praised what he saw during the tour, including the influx of students, the regularity of lectures on its first day, and the presence of university leaders and faculty members among their students follow up on the academic process and celebrate the newcomers joining the university, with the help of their older colleagues.
Alexandria University Council: Completion of All Preparations to Welcome the New Academic Year
Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, stressed during the University Council meeting, that the deans of the faculties have completed all the necessary preparations to receive students with the beginning of the new academic year 2023/2024, which is scheduled to start at the beginning of next week, and to confirm the readiness of the faculties for the regularity of lectures and educational services since the first day, the presence of faculty members, the announcement of lectures timetables, the preparation of auditoriums, lecture halls, laboratories, libraries and medical clinics in all faculties. He directed to follow up regularly on cleanliness inside the university campus, and to place informational signs, in addition to insurance and protection work for the university campus with the start of study, and to provide various means of safety and security in all university facilities. The university president directed the need to ensure good reception of students and hold student meetings to introduce them to the nature of university life and integrate them into student activities to hone their skills and develop their talents, raise students’ awareness of the culture of volunteer and community work, the values of belonging, loyalty and acceptance of others, and train students in different life skills.
The University President congratulated the Council on the occasion of the anniversary of the Prophet’s birth and the fiftieth anniversary of the victories of the glorious October War, pointing out that the university’s faculties celebrated this occasion for a full week and held various activities, to develop awareness and patriotic feelings among students, and introduce them to the historical epic when their fathers and grandfathers fought to change the course of history, the sacrifices and heroism made by the great Egyptian army and Egyptian soldiers in order to preserve the land, restore rights, and raise the value of the homeland.
In preparation for participating in the Green Metric World University Ranking, the University President stressed that the deansof the faculties should prepare an inventory of the public buildings in the faculties to rehabilitate and operate them with solar energy, in cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce and within the framework of the MAIA-TAQA and SOLE projects funded by the European Union, with the aim of consuming clean and low-cost energy.
The Council approved the memorandum of understanding between Alexandria University (Faculty of Early Childhood Education) and the Directorate of Health Affairs in Alexandria, the memorandum of understanding between Alexandria University and Nile National University, the memorandum of cooperation between Alexandria University (Faculty of Tourism and Hotels) and the University of Turiba - Latvia, and the cooperation agreement between Alexandria University and Georgia Tech University in the United States of America to cooperate in the field of entrepreneurship and student exchange, and provide the necessary support programs to incubate startup companies.
The Council agreed to accept donations submitted by the American company Keysight, which is a set of devices for the electronics laboratory in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering, valued at approximately 2 million pounds, and to accept donations submitted by the Horizon Solidarity Foundation, which are equipment for equipping the Fab Lab at the Faculty of Engineering, valued at approximately 1.8 million pounds. Eight hundred thousand pounds.
The Council approved the promotion of 13 faculty members, 5 to the position of professor, 8 to the position of associate professor, the appointment of 24 lecturers, and the granting of 32 doctoral degrees and 63 master’s degrees in various scientific specializations.
