Within the framework of Alexandria University concern to enhance communication between the university and its distinguished graduates abroad, Dr. Essam El Kurdi the university president received Dr. Anwar Soliman the Chairman of Windtronix Energy Company in USA. Dr. Soliman was graduated from the Faculty of Commerce in Alexandria University in 1958 and obtained PhD degree from New York University. The meeting was attended by Dr. Seddik Abdel Salam the Secretary of the Supreme Council of Private Universities and Head of AU Graduate League, and Dr. Nehal Habashy the Director of Clinical Researches Center.

During the meeting, Dr. Kurdi and Dr. Anwar discussed cooperation between the university and its alumni abroad. It was also agreed to hold a conference for AU alumni in the last week of July 2018. Dr. Soliman also visited the Faculty of Commerce where he met the Dean Dr. Sayed El Siefy and they agreed to organize meeting with the students during the next visit to present Dr. Soliman scientific and practical experiment through the years.

As part of Alexandria University's keenness to support and enhance cooperation with the Arab countries, Dr. Essam El-Kordi; President of Alexandria University received Dr. Ahmed Khalifa Al Shamsi, Chairman of the Fujairah Authority for Tourism and Antiquities in the United Arab Emirates and his accompanying delegation on Saturday 8/4/2018. The two sides discussed cooperation through the experts and specialists of the faculty members of the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels. During the visit, commemorative books on the history of Alexandria University and the history of Fujairah were exchange.

Prime Minister Sherif Ismail issued a decision to appoint Dr. Abdel Aziz Konswa; the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering as Vice President of Alexandria University for Community Services and Environment Development.

The county government of Kericho has partnered with Alexandra University of Egypt in ensuring that they build a modern health facility for specialized treatment.

Kericho county governor prof. Paul Chepkwony, alluded that, due to his visit to Egypt alongside his Economic Advisor prof. Mibey in December last year, he managed to strike a deal with the University to construct the health facility at a cost of 500million in Kericho County.

He added that, among other centers to be built in the area, the university has also offered to build a state of the Earth Ophthalmology to treat Eye conditions.

“We are establishing collaboration with Alexandria University in the area of Health Services at Kericho county Referral Hospital. Specifically, the team will help us develop a modern Health Facility for specialized treatment and with a state of the Earth Ophthalmology Center among others.” Said Chepkwony.

The governor added that Kericho Medical staff will be trained at Alexandra medical school on how to use the machines for treatment and also the doctors from the Alexandra university medical school will be coming to offer specialized medical services at the hospital in due time.

Some of the specialized medical services to be offered by the Alexandria doctors in Kenya include; Eye treatment, operation of the heart, Kidney transplant and training to some of the specialized doctors in the county.

Kericho County is also said to be in talks with Egypt on how Kenya can be supplying tea direct from the county.

“We shall also be talking about tea business with the county of Alexandria as per next month; governor of Alexandria will be coming with other Egypt businessperson so that we can see how we can do business together.” He said.

He has however, urged other governors to not only look for help globally but rather to consider those African countries that have hammered the norm and overcome the challenges of health issues like Egypt.

 

Dr. Mokhtar Youssef, Vice President of Alexandria University for Graduate Studies and Research, stressed the University's interest in establishing a committee for the ethics of care and use of experimental animals in education and scientific research according to the international standards in the Faculty of Medicine (which was established in 2005 and obtained the international figures since 2008). This Symposium based on ethical controls for the care and use of animals in scientific research on 15/3/2018 which organized by the Faculty of Science in collaboration with the Faculty of Science, Cairo University in the presence of Dr. Alaa Ramadan, Dean of the Faculty of Science, Alexandria University and Dr. Khadija Gaafar, Chairman of the Committee. The Vice President of Alexandria University said that those sub-committees will be formed in the faculties and institutes concerned with this subject, as well as the establishment of a unified list of the university on the ethics of care and use of experimental animals in education and scientific research as a guide for all rules in the organization. Dr. Khadija Gaafar talked about some points related to dealing with experimental animals and reviewed the international conventions in this regard. The seminar was attended by a number of specialists from faculty members and researchers at the university.
