Dr. Essam El Kurdi, President of Alexandria University stated that the university seeks to increase the medical and therapeutic services provided to children in various disciplines and to continue the development of university hospitals with more coordination between hospitals under the umbrella of the Medical Board.

This came during the opening of the fourth Egyptian on Paediatric Respiratory diseases. The conference was held in Alexandria Bibliotheca conference hall with participation of Prof. Ashraf Hatem, secretary general of the Supreme Council of Universities, Dr. Magdy Hegazi, Deputy of the Ministry of Health in Alexandria and Dr. Mahmoud Al Zalabany the former Dean of the Faculty of Medicine.

The Rector pointed out the importance of this conference, where 2300 researcher and participant from 26 countries will attend.

The Conference Chairman Dr. Nader Faseeh declared that discussions is taking place on challenges facing doctors in this area, as well as dealing with congenital diseases in the lung and bronchial, sensitivity, pneumonia and cirrhosis acute respiratory.

The conference was held under the auspices of the European Respiratory Society in Egypt and Middle East.

Alexandria University President Dr. Essam El-Kurdi issued decision to assign Dr. Iman Khalifa as Acting Dean of the Faculty of Vitrenary Medicine in Matroh starting from 3/6/2017. Dr. Iman is Assistant Professor at Department of Microbiology in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Matroh.

Dr. Hisham Gaber, the vice president of Alexandria University for Education and Students Affairs declared that all university faculties had finished the second semester exams.

He stated that the exams were implemented smoothly while faculty members will announce the results as soon as possible. He added that there were 584 cribs during the current exams almost of them were in the faculty of Law.


Dr. Hisham Gaber, the vice president of Alexandria University for Education and Students Affairs inaugurated the 15th exhibition of university cities students. The exhibition presented art works of the students who were trained in the workshops of university cities.

The students presented a variety of glass works, photo graphics, paper arts, textiles, environmental elements like tree papers, Arabic line and innovative designs.

the opening ceremony was attended by Deans, and Deputies of AU faculties while students from various faculties and institutes participated with art works.

Alexandria University President Dr. Essam El-Kurdi recently received Mr. John Casson, Britain's ambassador in Cairo and Wendy Freeman Britain's consul general in Alexandria. The visit aims to support the relations and promote cooperation between the two sides in the scientific and academic areas of common interest as well as increasing scientific exchange and benefit from experiences. 

In the meeting, the Rector statedthat there is ongoing cooperation between AU and British universities through scholarships provided within the Newton-Musharafa program as a partnership between the Ministry of Higher Education and British Council. The cooperation programsallowtravel for young researchers to study for master's and PhD degrees in British universities. He indicated that the University priorities includes the development of academic programs for both undergraduate and graduate studies and updating the curriculum, as well as the development of research activities to comply with the industry requirements and problems.

The British ambassador commended on the activity Arabic Education Center in the Faculty of Arts and its role in the presentation of Arabic culture and language to foreigners.The ambassador also stressed his country's keenness on achieving partnership between the two sides in order to ensure quality standards in higher education and to achieve the objective of cooperation between Egypt and UK.
