Creating a common academic file for Teaching Staff compatible with international standards
Alexandria University Council for Graduate Studies and Research headed by Dr. Mokhtar Youssef, the Vice President of the University for Graduate Studies and Research discussed report about E-Portfolio for teaching staff compatible with international standards.
Dr. Mokhtar emphasized that Alexandria University is the first university in Egypt to apply E-Portfolio where the project is fully supported by the Ministry of Communication.
Dr. Yousry Taha declared that the Ministry of Communications chose Alexandria University to apply this project that aims at creating academic common file for teaching staff compatible with international standards and this file will include (Teaching Staff CV- projects- researches).
Alexandria University receives the committee of the consultancy conference of the Shanghai government
The President of Alexandria University Dr. Essam El Kurdi has recently received a delegation from the committee of the political consultancy conference of Shanghai government headed by Mr. Hon Dung Yun. The meeting was attended by Mrs. Gao Lee Ying the General Consul of China in Alexandria in presence of Alexandria University deputies Dr. Hisham Gaber and Dr. Mukhtar Youssef. The attendants discussed available cooperation chances and possibility of exchanging expertise in academic and scientific fields.
Dr. Essam El Kurdi stated that Alexandria University is keen on cooperation with Shanghai University to establish Confucius Institute for teaching Chinese language to respond to the great demand of Egyptian students to study Chinese. He also underlined starting a new program to study Chinese in the Faculty of Arts.
The Rector also declared that the university has received 100 Chinese students this year to study in Arabic Teaching Center and hailed exchanging faculty members between the two sides.
The president of the Chinese delegation emphasized the intention of Shanghai University to cooperate with Alexandra University as the Chinese university has 64 faculties and already cooperates with 150 universities around the world as well it receives Arab students.
The magazine of the Faculty of Engineering joins the SCIE data base
The President of Alexandria University Dr. Essam El Kordy announced that the Faculty of Engineering carried out a new achievement in the international scholarly publishing by joining of its periodical magazine to Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE).
SCIE is one of the most widespread institutions which affiliated to Clarefit Company.
The periodical magazine of Alexandria Engineering was ranked second in the Middle East according to Scimago Journal Ranking and in the first quarter in 2016, 2017 classified as ISI -list.
Dr. Kordi added that Dr. Tarek Galal Shawky, The Minister of Education and the Executive President of Egyptian Knowledge Bank awarded number of distinguished researchers in different disciplines and universities during the ceremony of Clarefit Company. The cermony was held in cooperation with Ministry of Higher Education & Scientific Research, Ministry of Education, Egyptian Knowledge Bank (EKB) and EL SEVIER Institution in the presence of representatives from Egyptian university and research institutions.
Dr. Kordi said that Alexandria University was honored because of obtaining high ranking among the Egyptian universities according to US news Ranking.
On the sideline of Higher Education Summit in India…. The President of Alexandria University visits "Amity"
On the sideline of Higher Education Summit 2018 which was held in New Delhi on 30th of October to 1st of November, Dr. Essam Elkordi; The President of Alexandria University visited Amity University in India with high level delegation.
Amity University includes many scientific, engineering and technological disciplines and centers of excellence. The Delegation met the faculties staff and discussed joint cooperation between the Egyptian universities and Amity University like students and faculty members exchange, scholarships, scientific research and mutual education programs.
Alexandria University is 12th within QS Arab Region ranking.
The President of Alexandria University Dr. Essam El Kurdi declared that Alexandria University occupied the 12th place within QS University Ranking: Arab Region 2018.
Dr. Kurdi stated that the university ranking was upgraded 3 places than the last year, as the university moved from the 15th in 2017 to 12th place 2018. He added the Alexandria University came 7th within the Arab universities according to surveying employers' opinions regarding the quality of graduates.
Dr. Kurdi emphasized that this progress is an indication on the success of university strategy to enhance the scientific research as one of the prerequisites for world rankings, in addition to encouraging international publishing. He also declared that the university ranking was 745 within the best 1200 universities in the world according to US-News Ranking.
