Alexandria University honors a number of community figures in its Diamond Jubilee
Alexandria University honored on Thursday, 21/12/2017 at the end of the events of the jubilee diamond a number of public figures, ministers, pioneers of science and art and a number of ambassadors and consuls of the countries and included the honor Sheikh Al-Azhar and Pope Twadros Baba Alexandria Ministers of Higher Education and Endowments and Commander of the North Military Region and a number of former ministers The governor of Alexandria and Matrouh, the president of the pharmaceutical company Farco and a number of university professors.
Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, congratulated the Alexandria University's administration, professors, students and employees for their continued academic and societal excellence. He also stressed the role of universities in the lighthouse and the radiology center for knowledge and culture and achieving the aspirations of the Egyptian society in progress and development. And able to act and lead to others in all fields, referring to the role of the University of Enlightenment and culture, and stressed that the universities of Egypt able to achieve progress, including the strengths of the various components of their academic, technical and training He explained the importance of collaboration and coordination in efforts and the exchange of expertise, experience and openness to the corresponding academic institutions in developed countries and the importance of achieving progress in the development of Egypt.
The President of the University, Dr. Essam Al-Kordi, thanked the President of the Republic, Dr. Abdel-Fattah Al-Sisi, for his patronage of this celebration and his constant patronage of science and scientists. In addition to the role of the civil society in all fields, and referred to its leading national role in the revival of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, thanks to Dr. Mustafa Al-Abbadi, professor at the Faculty of Arts and Dr. Lutfi Dawidar, former president of the University. The Minister of Awqaf, Dr. Mohammed Mukhtar Jumaa, stressed the importance of the role of universities in spreading culture and awareness, correcting misconceptions and building countries, and praised the interest of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi in attracting young researchers and innovators to establish a special fund for the care of young innovators in recognition of the importance of science, scientists and scientific research.
Pope Twadros also delivered a speech in which he expressed his pride that he is a graduate of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Alexandria University, where he learned the keys to success in life - accuracy, order and the art of dealing with others.
Dr. Mohamed Sultan, governor of Alexandria, praised the work of Alexandria University to serve the society not only for Alexandria but for all of Egypt. He pointed out that it is the first expert house and the consulting office which provides all the assistance to the governorate in all projects carried out in the governorate.
On the sidelines of the celebration, the exhibition "Alexandria University in Tire" included a number of historical pictures about the University of Alexandria since its inception and so far and the most important activities and a number of innovations and projects of university students
The ceremony was attended by Dr. Essam Khamis, Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Major General Bassem Ezzat, Deputy Commander of the Northern Region, Major General Mustafa Al Nimr, Director of Alexandria Security, representatives of the armed forces and police, former presidents and vice presidents, deans and faculty members.

Alexandria University of continued its celebrations of the Diamond Jubilee at the Grand Hall of Alexandria Bibliotheca. At the beginning of the ceremony, Dr. Essam El-Kurdi, President of the University, addressed tribute to the President of Egypt Mr. Abdel Fattah El Sisi who said that investment in human and the minds of this young nation is the best investment and that reaching youth in all ways is the goal that we should work for. Dr. Kurdi saluted the brave army of Egypt and its national police, asking God to honor the martyrs with his mercy. He pointed out that Alexandria University is consistently and purposefully seeks to achieve its mission to promote higher education and research and provide the community with specialists in all fields in addition to participation in the development projects that are carried out in Egypt.
Dr. Kurdi pointed out that AU appreciates all the efforts exerted through the giant projects in Egypt which proved to be moving towards the future to reach our normal position among developed countries. He also explained that the university has achieved a lot of achievements in the field of education and scientific research, where it initiated new disciplines according to the latest educational systems, especially in the fields of medicine, engineering and agriculture sciences through scientific agreements with European, American, Chinese and Japanese universities. He indicated that the joint research with world universities enhanced AU rank according to international indexes.
The Rector emphasized that AU aims to consolidate its relations with the Euro-Mediterranean universities by exchanging students and faculty members and carrying out joint research in many important fields, especially those related to the environment, energy and water. He also stated that 12 faculties and institutes have obtained accreditation from the National Authority of Quality Assurance and Accreditation Education.
A conference at the Faculty of Engineering discusses bridging the gap between scientific research, government and industry
Dr. Essam Al-Kurdi, President of Alexandria University inaugurated the 11th International Conference of "Role of Engineering towards better environment". The conference will be under title of "Bridging the gap between scientific research, government and industry", and will be organized by the Faculty of Engineering. The conference activities will continue for three days under the chairmanship of Dr. Abdel Aziz Qansoah.
The conference will discuss 83 researches on the use of traditional water sources to fill the gap in demand for water, keep surface water and groundwater quality, reduce water pollution, rationalize consumption, and reduce lakes pollutants to optimize the water usage.
The conference will also address issues like protection of beaches and marine facilities from the impact of erosion and sedimentation, environmental integration inside Nuclear energy stations, green roads to preserve heritage, urban planning of cities in accordance with the environment, using of new eco friendly materials in the construction of bridges and high buildings, desalination systems with recent environmental methods, and finding technological solutions to the challenges of energy, oil and gas to achieve the desired environmental integration.
The conference will also define a session on the issue of "Energy and Water Management"
The launching of the ICT Conference at the Faculty of Commerce
Minister of Manpower, Mohamed Saafan emphasized the Ministry's keenness to spread the culture of self-employment and entrepreneurship among university students and young graduates, and to develop their abilities and potentials to create job opportunities in the professions needed by the labor market. He emphasized the cooperation between the ministry and the university to eliminate unemployment.
This came through the participation of the Minister of Manpower at the opening of "ICT in our lives" conference organized by the Department of Information and Computer Systems at the Faculty of Commerce annually. The conference is held this year in cooperation with the Computer Department of the Faculty of Engineering in the period from 16 to 18 December 2017 under title of "Information Systems for Sustainability".
The minister added that according to the recently signed protocol with Dr. Essam El-Kurdi, AU graduates will be trained on various careers for periods 2 or 4 months in the training centers of the Ministry of Manpower in Alexandria, then the trainee will be supported by a loan to start his own business.
AU President meets the students who achieved the second place in the flying competition in USA
The President of Alexandria University, Dr. Essam El-Kurdy met Alex Eagles Team who occupied the second place in Flying Competition in USA. This came during his tour in the Faculty of Engineering with the Dean, Dr. Abdel Aziz Konswa, Dr. Said Allam, the Faculty Deputy for Education and Student Affairs and the former AU President Dr. Roshdy Zahran.
