Alexandria University Hosts 6th Annual Summit of Egyptian Universities Student Unions' Heads and Vice-presidents at Bagoush Camp

Under the auspices of Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, and Dr. Wael Nabil, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, Alexandria University hosted, for the sixth year in a row, representatives of 21 public universities, including presidents and vice presidents of Egyptian universities' student unions, at the university camp in Bagoush, where the activities of the annual camp were held, to prepare student cadres at the university level.

Dr. Mohamed Bahey El-Din, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture and supervisor of the events, indicated that this camp is one of the most important activities that are implemented at this top level in universities. The Alexandria University Student Union participated in the preparation for it, headed by the student Omar Afifi, president of the union, over a period of several months, and it included several workshops in addition to sports and cultural competitions.

Dr. Gamal El-Amrawi, emeritus professor at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, participated in supervising the leadership of the camp, as well as Mr. Shehab Mahrous, acting director general of the General Administration of Youth Welfare, and Mr. Mohamed Fawzi, the student union official in the administration.
Alexandria University Participates in “Productive Student Initiative” Training Workshops

Under the auspices of Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, and Dr. Nevine El Kabbaj, Minister of Social Solidarity, the Social Solidarity Unit at the university has launched a package of training programs for students wishing to establish productive projects during their studies at the university, as part of the Productive Student Initiative launched by the Ministry of Social Solidarity. The training workshops include handicrafts, crochet, wax crafts, macrame, decorations, flowers arrangement, accessories, arabesque woodwork, drawing and shaping sand, hoop work, embroidery and detailing, designing clothes, making cosmetics and perfumes, ceramics, carpets, kilims and pottery, recycling, and resin. These workshops will continue in cooperation with the Taha Hussein Centre for Students with Disabilities at the university until the 20th of September.
The Productive Student Initiative aims to refine the students’ character, support their financial and social independence, develop the spirit of innovation and creativity, and encourage them to invest in their skills and abilities. These courses represent an opportunity for students to obtain the necessary knowledge and expertise to implement productive projects that generate continuous income.
Dr. Salah Hashem, General Coordinator of Social Solidarity Units in Egyptian Universities, indicated that the initiative aims to train 10,000 students during the summer vacation. Training courses are being implemented in the fields of feasibility study, marketing, financial inclusion, as well as traditional arts and handicrafts. The Ministry of Social Solidarity offers grants ranging between 10 thousand to 15 thousand pounds per project, with a total of 5,000 productive projects. The activities of the initiative will be concluded by holding a bazaar to display to students the output of these productive projects, in cooperation with the products of fraternities within each university. This will take place at the end of the summer vacation and the beginning of the new academic year. The participating students will be granted a certificate for passing the training courses, grant-winning projects are also selected through committees formed by the Ministry of Solidarity in cooperation with environmental affairs sectors in various universities. Applications of students wishing to participate in training grants will be received at the headquarters of the social solidarity units in universities.
Alexandria University Launches Medical Convoy to Serve People of Ezbet El-Shaheed village in Montaza

Under the auspices of Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, and the supervision of the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector, Alexandria University, represented by the Faculties of Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Nursing, and the Medical Research Institute, organized a comprehensive medical convoy to serve the people of Ezbet El-Shaheed village in the Maraghi area in Montaza. The convoy was organised in cooperation with the National Council for Women in Alexandria. In addition, “Doctor for You” fraternity at the Faculty of Medicine, Alexandria University, participated in organising the convoy.
Dr. Wafaa El-Sehli, professor at the Faculty of Medicine and member of the convoy committee at Alexandria University, stated that the total number of cases that were detected during the convoy work amounted to 342 cases in various medical specialties, including 81 dermatology cases, 70 internal medicine cases, 67 paediatric cases, 30 gynaecology cases, 45 orthopaedics cases, and 49 dental cases. In addition, several x-rays were performed, and 41 cases were transferred to Alexandria University Hospitals.
Faculty of Tourism and Hotels Students Participate in Training Camp Organized by National Council for Women in Alexandria

Within the framework of the project to support and create a safe work environment for women in the tourism sector in Egypt, and under the auspices of Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, students of the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels participated in the training camp organized by the National Council for Women, in cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, the Spanish Cooperation Agency in Egypt, in collaboration with the Wellspring Foundation.
The conference targeted male and female students of the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels at the Universities of Alexandria and Matrouh, with the aim of training and educating them on how to support and promote a safe work environment for women working in the tourism sector, and it lasted for 3 days in Alexandria.
Dr. Abeer Attia, Dean of the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels, indicated that the camp included many activities and topics, the most important of which are how to manage time, planning, personal skills to get a job, work values and ethics, communication skills and teamwork, in addition to topics of social intelligence and the equation of change.



New Vice Deans at Faculties of Medicine and Engineering

Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, issued the following decrees:
• Appointment of Dr. Iman Youssef Morsi Ahmed - Professor and Head of the Department of Internal Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine as Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs.

• Appointment of Dr. Wael Mohamed Mustafa El-Maghlani, Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering, as Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs for a period of three years.
