Alexandria University Council resolved, at its meeting held on Monday, March 14th, 2016, headed by Dr. Rushdi Zahran, the University President, to form a committee to study foreign students’ conditions and ways to facilitate residency and all other administrative procedures. That is based on the keenness of the University to provide opportunities to attract foreign students to study at the University faculties.

Prof. Dr. Rushdi Zahran, President of Alexandria University, stressed the importance of encouraging faculty members and their assistants to increase scientific publication rates in the classified world scientific magazines along with emphasizing on the development of scientific and specialized magazines issued by the university faculties.

Alexandria University Council approved, during its meeting on Monday, March 14th, 2016 to update the criteria for university awards, and adopted the new formation of the awards committee. Furthermore, Prof. Dr. Rushdi Zahran, the University President, approved the proposal of introducing an Award for Innovation in the field of teaching and the development of education using modern technological means and another to be rewarded to students who receive awards at international, regional and local competitions.

Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Rushdi Zahran, head of the University of Alexandria began on Saturday, March 5, 2016 the first weekly courses organized by the community service sector and development environment to raise the efficiency of the executive departments of the units of a special nature and how to prepare the annual budget and explain the financial regulations, administrative, legal and marketing aspects and marketing activity of the units as well as the procurement aspects. Prof. Dr. Essam Kurdi, vice president for community service and development confirmed in his speech on this occasion the role of the university in the service of society by providing excellent services, which is what we seek to achieve through activating the role of a special units, Dr. Kurdi, director of the units called for preparing ambitious plans for the operation of these units, adding that the sector will overcome all obstacles until we turn at the university and community service perfectly.

Prof. Dr. Rushdi Zahran, head of the University of Alexandria received Dr. Chidi Ebi, professor of geochemistry and petroleum at the University of Port Harcourt & technical expert of the United Nations and Dr. Mahmoud Hassan Ahmed, deputy chairman of the Egyptian Authority for Remote Sensing and Space Sciences.
During the meeting, they discussed the establishment of a joint degree between the Universities of Alexandria and the Nigerian Port Harcourt for training in the field of remote sensing and space science, and the possibility of establishing a joint professional diploma in cooperation with the General Authority for Remote Sensing at the University of Alexandria.
