Alexandria University Council in its session held on Tuesday, 24 November 2015 under chairmanship of the Rector Dr.  Rushdi Zahran underlined the importance of encouraging students to participate in student activities and to make use of their efforts in literacy programs in partnership with the concerned bodies and actors to achieve this important national goal.

Alexandria University Council in its session held on Tuesday, 24 November 2015 under chairmanship of the Rector Dr.  Rushdi Zahran decided to standardize all courses completion certificates issued from all the relevant Units of Special Nature and university centers starting from next January.

 

In the context of university keenness of the continuous improvement of competency, the Council stressed the importance of improving the administrative structures of the university. The Council also called the Human resources Committee to set training plans as soon as possible that should improve the performance of the teaching staff and employees leading to raise the competency and achieve better service for the community. The Council also called all faculties and institutes to provide the whole development plan of University facilities in order to be included within the investment plan of the university.

 

The Community Service and Environment Development sector at Faculty of Arts - Alexandria University announces for a workshop about “Egyptian Knowledge Bank” in cooperation with the Digital Library of the Supreme Council of Universities. The workshop will be held on Saturday, 13 August 2016 at 11:00 am where Dr. Khaled Abdel Fattah, Director of the Digital Library will deliver a lecture.

Dr. Ghada Abdel Moneim Moussa stated that this session is designed to know how to benefit from the Egyptian knowledge Bank. She declared that and registration is available through the secretariat office of the Community Service and Environment Development sector at Faculty of Arts.

 

President Alexandria University Dr. Rushdy Zahran inaugurated the solar lighting project in the Faculty of Science buildings in El Shatby and Muharram. The project was funded by the European Union (EU) within the program (ENPI-CBCMED) for joint cooperation across the Mediterranean Sea. The project name is:

"Using of modern technology in non-central solar energy applications in public facilities in the Mediterranean Sea countries".

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Dr. Essam El-Kurdi University Vice-President for Community Service and Environment Development, Dr. Mohamed Abaza, University Vice-President for Matroh Branch, Dr. Hesham Gaber, University Vice-President for Education and Student Affairs and Dr. Mohammed Ismail, Dean of the Faculty of Science in addition to deputies and faculty.

The project installed 120 semi-transparent solar panels (permeability of 16%) with solar shading system on a total of 60 windows in El Shatby building with total capacity of 17.28 kilowatt that will feed the overall network directly using the latest control devices. It is expected to generate electric power at approximately annual rate of 26.35 megawatt/ hour providing about 8% of the total electrical energy used annually in El Shatby building

Also two sunshades were erected in Moharram Bek building, one in the garden and the other one was installed on the roof of Administration building with total capacity of (12.18) kilowatts expected generated

power of (23.27 megawatts/hr) that shall provide about 4% of the electrical energy used annually in the building of Muharram Bek.

 

The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Dr. Ashraf El-Shiehy accompanied by Matroh Governor Mr. Alaa Abu Zaid and AU Rector Dr. Roshdy Zahran visited the first phase constructions of AU buildings in Matroh branch with total cost of 48 Million EGP and implemented by the Armed Forces' Engineering Authority.

The Minister stressed the importance of this expansion to serve the education process and students through providing required facilities to produce graduates at the highest level.

Matroh Governor Mr. Abu Zaid stated that the governorate provides the support to overcome any obstacles that may hinder the work.

Dr. Zahran commended efforts that have been made by the Armed Forces' Engineering Authority to finish the first building in record time only two months. Dr. Mohamed Abaza the University Vice President for Matroh Branch spoke about branch history and thanked all persons who contributed to its establishment and development.

The visit was witnessed by Dr. Essam Kurdy the University Vice President for Community Service and Environment Development, Dr. Hesham Gaber the University Vice President for Education and Students Affairs and Eng. Ashraf Hamed the Director of Watania for Contracts and Supplies in addition to faculty members, students and community leaders in Matroh.
