Alexandria University Council approved during its meeting held on Sunday, February 28, 2016, headed by Dr. Rushdi Zahran, head of the university to start preparing to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee of the University through a major celebration include versions of documenting the history of the university and the establishment of museum hall, also the university president called all faculties to prepare their proposals for ceremonial events at its next meeting of the higher committee for the development of an integrated program to celebrate. 

 

Prof. Dr. Seddik Abdul Salam, Vice President of Alexandria University for graduate Studies and Research and Prof. Dr. Essam Kurdi, Vice President of the University for the Community Service and Environment Development and Prof. Dr. Hisham Gaber, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs received Dr. Masaaki Suzuki, Vice President of Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology for Regional and International Affairs and Dr. Mona Gamal Eldin, the Acting Deputy of the Egypt-Japan university for Education and Academic Affairs. 

During the meeting Alexandria University Deputies stressed the university keen to benefit from the Japanese experience in the area of education and scientific research and technological applications and underlined the development cooperation between the two countries, in particular Egypt-Japan university of Science and Technology.

They also stressed the need to make use of the distinguished possibilities of the two sides and to conduct common scientific activities in modern and advanced fields as well as releasing common scientific magazines and publications. 

Dr. Suzuki indicated that the study for Bachelor degrees will began from 2017 while the study was limited to graduate studies since its inception in 2009 until now for both Masters and PhD degree. He added that the construction works of the new university campus in Burj Al Arab began on the area of 200 Acres in order to present a scientific and research contribution through collaboration between Egyptian minds and the scientific progress of Japan.

At the end of the visit, Prof. Dr. Seddik Abdul Salam presented the University Shield to Dr. Suzuki in recognition of the role of the Japanese University in the service of human development in Egypt, the Arab region and Africa.

 

During the session of Community Service and of Environment Development Council held on Sunday 21 February 2016, Prof. Dr. Essam Kurdi, Vice President of Alexandria University for Community Service and of Environment Development stressed on using the common logo of Alexandria University for all internal and external transmittals in faculties and institutes of the university and also for training certificates issued by the University starting from March 2016. He stated that this decision was taken to unify university identity and prevent document fraud by others using the name of Alexandria University.

Prof. Dr. Essam Kurdi, Vice President of Alexandria University for Community Service and of Environment Development and Prof. Dr. Hisham Gaber, Vice President of the University for Education and Students Affairs participated the workshop organized by the university in cooperation with the American Cultural Center. The workshop held on the morning of Tuesday, 23 February 2016 and hosted Dr. John Cavanaugh the President and the CEO of the Consortium of Universities of the Washington Metropolitan Area which consists of 14 American universities.

Dr. Cavanaugh delivered a lecture titled "Higher Education in 2016: to achieve excellence in global framework" where he discussed with the audience the of global educational developments, and how to be linked with the university, the global challenges facing higher education quality, the impact of the international classifications on the quality of higher education and challenges facing higher education, management and finance.

The Graduate Studies and Research Council of Alexandria University headed by Dr. Seddik Abdul Salam, Vice President of the university adopted the establishment of a professional diploma in computer science for non-specialists in the Faculty of Science for graduates from the Egyptian universities and equivalents.
