 Dr. Essam El-Kurdi, the President of the Alexandria University, Dr. Mohammed Sultan, the Governor of Alexandria and Dr. Abdel Aziz Konswa the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering attended the faculty celebration of the graduation of the 71st batch 2016/02017. The celebration held of Friday evening, October 6, 2017. 1640 students has graduated. The distinguished students were honored.

In his speech, Dr. El-Kurdi congratulated the graduates, assuring that the university to fulfill its role in the graduation of a generation capable of competition in local, regional, and international labor markets and well qualified to deal with modern technology to serve our beloved country. He praised the role of the Faculty of Engineering in upgrading the educational process in disciplines needed by the labor market and the establishment of joint programs with international universities in postgraduate studies. He called the graduates always to keep in mind the keys to success, which is the sincerity, strive, struggle and perseverance. He stressed their important role in the development of the prosperity of our beloved Egypt.

Alexandria University Vice President for Education and Students Affairs Dr. Hisham Gaber participated in the closing of the training program "Steps Toward Work," held on Wednesday 4 October 2017. The training program was held over a period of two months in the presence of the deans of the faculties of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine as well as faculty members who participated in the training of the students.


 In his speech, Prof. Dr. Hisham Gaber thanked the students who are the owners of project idea and the executive committees of the project and all of faculty members who participated voluntarily to train the students. The students were trained on productive projects in the field of livestock, poultry, fisheries, biotechnology and rabbits production. The training also covered the quality systems and certification procedures of agricultural products.

Dr. Gaber praised the fruitful cooperation between the students of the three colleges and the integration between agricultural sector and veterinary sector, with its output of the first training project of its kind at the level of Alexandria University and the Egyptian universities.

Alexandria University President Dr. Essam El Kurdi recieved a delegation from Pearson Publishing Ltd. from UK headed by Mrs Anna Burton, the director of learning publishing in North and West Africa. The meeting discussed how to promote cooperation between the twi sides and to establish joint programs to award scientific degrees in the medical field and sustainable development. The visit came as a preparation for signing the agreement of international activities between AU and the World Academy of Advanced Studies and Research Ltd. UK. The agreement aims to provide high quality education and training to meet labor market requirements and producing a graduate with internationally recognized certificate.
The two sides discussed the initiative of Alexandria University to establish the medical council of the university and to increase the cooperation to include engineering and business administration fields.


The meeting was attended by Dr. Hisham Gaber the university vice president and Dr. Ahmed Ismail the Director of Pearson in Egypt in addition to deans of the Faculty of Nursing and the Institute of Medical Researches and Dr. Mahmoud Sakr the Professor at the Faculty of Medicine

Alexandria University President Dr. Essam El-Kurdi opened the 2nd international Conference of Alexandria University under title of "Knowledge integration and innovation: Pathways to Progress" within the celebrations of the diamond Jubilee of AU. The conference activities will last for three days in the conferences Hall of the Faculty of Medicine.

In his speech, Prof. Essam El-Kurdi said that this conference is a continuation of the approach of knowledge integration between all the scientific, humanities, basic and practical disciplines. He also referred to the role of the university in Egypt that extended to the Arab and African countries through its branches in South of Sudan and Chad as well as cooperation relations with many international universities, that reflected on the position of the university in the world rankings of universities such as the Times Higher Education Ranking and Shanghai Ranking.

AU vice President for Education and Student Affairs Prof. Hisham Gaber, said that the conference comes in a transition period in Egypt where we need to apply the integrated scientific approach to face the problems of the community. He stressed on the necessity to work on the investment in education outputs for the benefit of the country and citizen to achieve a better future for current and future generations.

Prof. Dr. Fathi Abu Ayana, the Professor in the Faculty of Arts and the Rapporteur of the conference said that the Arab and Islamic civilization had a leading role in the integration of knowledge and the establishment of a lot of sciences, the humanity bears the fruit today as many Arab intellectuals were masters in basic science and most of them applyed the principle of knowledge integration, which became the hallmark of developed societies that adopted an integrated system in the scientific knowledge to take the advantage of modern science for society development and upgrading.

Prof. Mohammad Rafiq Khalil, the Professor in the Faculty of Medicine underlined the role of the university as an entity in which all the disciplines are existing and cooperating as one system.

Prof. Dr. Ahmed Othman the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine in his speech said that Egypt throughout the ages had many scientists who represented a form of knowledge integration like Imhotep, who was a doctor, philosopher architect and artists, in addition to Aristotle, Ibn Sina and Ibn Rushd, while in modern times there is Einstein and Mustafa Musharafa.

The opening ceremony was attended by the AU former presidents and vice presidents as well as faculties deans and deputies and faculty members. The ceremony included a documentary film about the university on the occasion of the 75th anniversary since establishment.

 

Alexandria University President Dr. Essam El-Kurdi emphasized the importance of improving the personal skills of university students to build personality capable of dealing with the labor market. He indicated that AU has established career development center and entrepreneurship "CDCE" in the university for this purpose and organized several courses for personal skills development in partnership with a number of international companies and the businessmen associations.

This came during an observation in the faculties of Engineering, Agriculture and Science, in the second day of the academic year 2017/2018. Dr. Kurdi was accompanied by Dr. Hisham Gaber, AU vice president for Education and Student Affairs and faculties Deans in his meeting with the students.

Dr. Hisham Gaber emphasized importance of student's activities of cultural, social and sports activities. He said that the university had increased the number of scholarships provided for the Nile Basin countries to promote research and innovations to offer them its full support.
