Dr. Gaber receives Karate champion Ahmed El Masry
Alexandria University Vice President for Education and Students Affairs Dr. Hisham Gaber received on Monday 14/5/2018 the student Ahmed El Masry who winned the World Karate Championship and ranked first in the Ranking of the World Karate Federation for April 2018. Dr. Hisham Gaber stated that the university is keen to support these honorable examples and make all the possibilities available to support its students. He also confirmed his support to the student in order to be qualified to the Olympics with all required support for his scientific study.
Ahmed El Masry; the student at the Faculty of Dentistry presented the schedule of the tournaments in which he will represent Egypt starting in next August.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Sahar Al Sheikh, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry for Education and Students Affairs and Dr. Ahmed Khamis, member of the Technical Committee of the Egyptian Union of Universities.
Alexandria University's student is in the first place on the world in Karate
Dr. Issam El-Kordi; President of Alexandria University, Dr. Hisham Gaber; Vice President of the university for Education and Student Affairs, congratulated Ahmed El Masry; student in the Faculty of Dentistry and player in the Egyptian Karate team for winning first place in the international Karate ranking on the website of the World Karate Federation. The annual talent ceremony for foreign students in the Faculty of Arts
Dr. Essam El-Kordi; President of Alexandria University, and Dr. Hisham Gaber; Vice President for Education and Students witnessed the annual talents ceremony for foreign students studying Arabic at the Arabic Language Education Center for Foreigners at the Faculty of Arts. The event was held at the Faculty of Economics and Political Science in Smouha.
The students presented their diaries in Egypt through one year during events and activities organized by the Center.
Students of various programs participated like the students of the Chinese program CCIEE, students of the program of the Chinese University of Nanjing, students of the program of the University of Copenhagen in Denmark, students of Cambridge University in England and students from the University of Political Science in France.
The ceremony also included a theatrical show entitled "Egyptian mantra" with some folk dances as well as a number of documentary videos of students' activities during travels and trips in Egypt.
The ceremony was attended by Dr. Ghada Moussa; Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Dr. Lina Habib who is responsible for the Center of Arabic language Education for Foreigners.
Decisions of the Supreme Council of Alexandria University branch in N'djamena
The Supreme Council of Alexandria University branch in N'djamena-Chad held a meeting on Tuesday 26/4/2018 headed by Dr. Essam El Kurdi and attended by AU Vice President for N'Djamena branch and the Deans of the Faculty of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine. The Council approved assign professors from the two faculties to N'djamena Branch to address intensive courses for Chadian students.
* The Council approved the appointment of Dr. Mohamed Bahi El Din, General Coordinator of N'Djamena Branch and Dr. Ahmed Zein, Director of Research and Cooperation at the University of N'Djamena to develop a vision of establishing a farm for veterinary medicine and agriculture in the branch. .
* The Council discussed the provision of an Internet line by the Chadian side to broadcast the courses from Alexandria University to N'Djamena via video conference.
* The Council agreed to grant a full scholarship to the first and second students of the Faculty of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine in N'Djamena to study for Master degree in Alexandria University campus.
* The Council agreed to supply books and scientific references to the library of N'Djamena branch in cooperation with the project of Ambassadors of Knowledge of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina.
* Dr. Hisham Gaber; AU Vice President for Education and Students Affairs, highlighted the commitment of Alexandria University to train the students of Chad branch and to prepare cultural and educational programs for them.
The international scientific conference on Islamic Economy and Finance
The Minister of Awqaf Dr. Mokhtar Gomaa, Alexandria University President Dr. Essam El-Kordy and Secretary General of the League of Islamic Universities Dr. Gaafar Abdel Salam inaugurated the International Scientific Conference on the Role of Islamic Economics and Finance in Development. The conference was opened on Wednesday 25/4/2018 and organized by AU in cooperation with the League of Islamic Universities. The conference was held under auspices of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the President of the League Dr. Abdullah Al Turki.
The conference activities continued for three days 25-27 April 2018, with the participation of Dr. Sayed Al-Saifi; Dean of the Faculty of Commerce in addition to the presidents and vice presidents of universities, deans, faculty members guests from Islamic countries. The attendants discussed 25 researches from universities around the world to shed light on the tools of the Islamic economy and finance and its role in achieving suitable level of living for all society members and achieving the comprehensive economic development of Islamic countries.
In his speech, Dr. Mokhtar Gomaa praised the conference goal to find practical solutions to our contemporary issues. He stressed the necessity of activating the role of the League of Islamic Universities to confront extremism and radicalism and renew religious discourse through new reading and the realization of reason in our contemporary issues. The minister suggested reconsidering the current name of the League to become the League of Universities and Institutions of Islamic Countries and setting new criteria for accepting universities.
In his speech, Dr. Kordi pointed to the importance of the conference, which comes to express the world need to activate the role of Islamic economy and finance. He described the conference as a scientific event that brings together research and scientific opinions of researchers and professors from Arab and Islamic universities specialized in the fields of Islamic economics and finance. He also stressed the importance of other topics such as the Islamic Awqaf and its role in sustainable human development and supporting small projects to overcome poverty and unemployment and other topics that make this international conference an important addition to the scientific role of the League of Islamic Universities.
Dr. Sayed Al-Saifi; Dean of the Faculty of Commerce and Conference Rapporteur pointed out the policy of financial inclusion that the state is seeking to undertake that requires total financial and economic reforms through the Islamic banking base as the Islamic finance contributes to raising spending and diversifying sources of government revenues. He added that the conference comes in line with the vision of the Egyptian government in 2030. Dr. Al-Saifi thanked Alexandria University Council chaired by Dr. Essam El-Kurdi for adopting the faculty proposal to establish an Islamic Finance Center like the existing centers around the world.
In his speech, Dr. Rashed El-Alewy from Qassim University talked about the importance of the conference to activate the role of the Islamic economy and finance to find funding formulas compatible with the Islamic concept to solve the economic problems.
Dr. Gaafar Abdel Salam; the Secretary General of the League of Islamic Universities explained that the Islamic economy is a refuge for many economic problems as the conference discussed various topics in this regards.
