Alexandria University President Attends International Students Cultural Day Celebration at Bibliotheca Alexandrina

Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, witnessed this evening the celebration of the International Students Cultural Day, which is organized by the University’s International Students Department, with the participation of students from 16 different nationalities studying at Alexandria University. The celebration took place at the Great Hall of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina.

In his speech, the University President expressed his pleasure with the solidarity of students of different nationalities, and the messages expressed by this scene that we are all one. He thanked the students for showing human values in their best forms such as tolerance, brotherhood, and respect for civilizations among peoples, wishing them continued success. In the same context, Dr. Konsowa confirmed that Alexandria University seeks, through a clear and specific strategy, to achieve educational competitiveness and graduate distinguished students whether locally, regionally or globally, explaining that the university is cooperating for this purpose with international universities of prestigious classification, and is preparing in the coming days to sign several double degrees with several British universities. He also pointed out to study programs at Alexandria National University that keep pace with the contemporary development in education programs at the international level and the needs of the labour market.
Dr. Wael Nabil, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, expressed his happiness with this gathering of different communities in Egypt, stressing Alexandria University’s support for its international students, not only academically, but extends this support to all student, cultural, recreational and sports activities.
Dr. Hala Maklad, Executive Director of the International Students Department at the University, said that today's event represents a celebration in which various cultures decorate the grounds of Alexandria University. She praised the impressive cultural and artistic performances that reflect the civilizations of countries, stressing that the International Students Department will continue to provide all services to students throughout their studies at the university.
The celebration began with the recitation of the Holy Qur’an, followed by a screening of a documentary film about Alexandria University, a parade of the flags of the participating countries, and speeches by the President of the Alexandria University Student Union, the General Coordinator of the Communities, and the representative of postgraduate studies for the international students. In addition, artistic performances were presented by the Alexandria University Choir, including both Egyptian and international students, as well as 16 artistic performances presenting the heritage and civilization of the participating communities.
The ceremony was attended by Dr. Ahmed Zayed, Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, Major General Khaled Gomaa, Secretary General of Alexandria Governorate, in addition to several consuls, advisors and cultural attachés of the participating countries, and deans and vice deans of the various faculties.



Alexandria University President Inaugurates Cultural Heritage Exhibition for Expatriate Communities and International Students Including Participants from 16 Countries

Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, inaugurated the activities of the Cultural Day for expatriate communities and international students, which is organized by the Department of Foreign Student Affairs and Welfare at the university in cooperation with the General Administration of Youth Welfare, in the presence of several consuls and diplomats of the participating countries. The event was also attended by foreign counsellors, cultural attachés, international students at Alexandria University, and a group of university guests from 16 Arab, African, and Asian countries.
During the activities of the cultural day, Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa inspected the booths that were set up in the five-a-side court at the university stadium, including heritage artifacts that express the history of each country, as well as food, drinks and traditional clothes that characterize each of the communities. He praised the outstanding efforts exerted in organizing this carnival day. He also stressed that this day is a good opportunity for brotherhood among peoples, especially foreign students studying at Alexandria University, as it is among the strategic goals of Alexandria University to achieve an ideal atmosphere for these students in their second country, Egypt.






















Dr. El-Ghandour: International Scientific Publishing Centre an Important Step to Raise Alexandria University International Ranking

The Postgraduate Studies and Research Council of Alexandria University met on the morning of Tuesday the 23rd of May 2023 headed by Dr. Ashraf El-Ghandour, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research. The council discussed the tasks of the International Scientific Publishing Centre, which was inaugurated yesterday, as El-Ghandour stressed that the opening of the centre is an important step towards the globalization that Alexandria University seeks to reach, and to contribute to raising the ranking of Alexandria University in all international classifications, as well as supporting and honouring researchers with distinguished research. He added that three workshops will be held in the field of international publishing over three Consecutive days, starting from Sunday the 11th of June 2023. They are directed to the medical, science, engineering, agricultural, and humanities sectors. El-Ghandour said that the centre will also hold training courses for researchers, pointing to the update of the scientific publishing site on the university's website. He called on all researchers to enter the scientific publishing site to get acquainted with everything new regarding the rules of scientific publishing.
- The Council also approved the memorandum of understanding between the University of South Ural in Russia and the Faculty of Agriculture, Alexandria University, in the field of functional foods and nutrition. The council approved the renewal of the memorandum of understanding between Northern Illinois University in the USA and Faculty of Engineering, Alexandria University, the renewal of the memorandum of understanding between Alexandria University and Moi University in Kenya, and the memorandum of understanding between Alexandria University and the Faculty of Nursing at University of Mosul in Iraq. The council also approved the student exchange agreement between Alexandria University and Shanghai University for International Studies, and the proposed agreement to establish and operate the King Sunjong Institute between Alexandria University and the Korean Cultural Centre in Egypt.
Alexandria University Students Participate in "Decent Life" Initiative Training Program

Under the auspices of Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, and Dr. Wael Nabil, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, 30 students from Alexandria University are participating in the first training program launched by the Foundation for a Decent Life "Hayah Karima" for university students in cooperation with the National Presidential Academy for Training. The program will be held from 20-20 May, with the aim of training university students on voluntary work and introducing them to the activities of the Decent Life Foundation as a national project to support youth initiatives and implement them on the ground, through the efforts of university students.
The program aims to encourage cooperation between all state institutions and civil society organizations, to meet the needs of the people of the targeted villages, and educate young people about the efforts made by the state to raise the standard of living and overcome challenges to reach a better future.
During the program, students are trained on life and volunteering skills, and the training enrich their information with knowledge of public interest.
The students expressed their pleasure to participate in this program, to help members of society in various humanitarian, medical and awareness fields. They stressed the need to encourage a larger number of their fellow students to participate in the initiative.
Training Program on "Developing Rumi Cheese Industry to Compete in International Markets”

On Sunday the 21st of May 2023, Dr. Ashraf El-Ghandour, Vice President of Alexandria University for Postgraduate Studies and Research Affairs, inaugurated the program of the training course organized by the Faculty of Agriculture, under the title “Developing the Rumi Cheese Industry to Compete in Global Markets”, in the presence of Dr. Mohamed Bahey El-Din, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Dr. Heba Sabri Salama, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, Dr. Aisha Abdelmaqsoud, Head of the Department of Dairy Science and Technology, Dr. Morsi Abulseoud El-Souda, Emeritus Professor of the Department of Dairy Science and Technology, and a group of industrialists, experts, faculty members and graduates.
In his speech, Dr. Ashraf El-Ghandour stressed that this program is one of the most important strategic goals of Alexandria University headed by Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of the University, which is to enhance cooperation between scientific research and industry, with the aim of achieving economic growth, assisting the state in reducing the import bill, enhancing the competitiveness of the national industry, and supporting local manufacturing. El-Ghandour indicated that this training course emphasizes the importance of integration and cooperation between the university’s research centres and bodies and industrialists, in order to achieve the country’s sustainable development goals (Egypt’s Vision 2030). He also expressed his hope that the training course will come out with recommendations that help provide a competitive local product In global markets, and contribute to transforming the innovative research produced by Alexandria University into industrial products that meet current and future needs.

While Dr. Mohamed Bahey El-Din confirmed that Alexandria University spares no effort in supporting applicable scientific research, indicating that this practical training course will be conducted at the biochemistry laboratories of dairy microbes under the supervision of Dr. Morsi El-Souda, former dean of the Faculty of Agriculture and a global expert in the production and processing of Dairy. Dr. Bahey El-Din thanked the Department of Dairy Science and Technology for its efforts in providing applicable scientific research, and obtaining a number of research projects capable of achieving global competitiveness.

Dr. Heba Salama indicated that this training course aims to link scientific research with the industrial community, to benefit from the results of research and studies produced by the dairy department at the faculty, and provide all scientific services and advice to the industrial community, noting that this course will follow up and evaluate the best research proposals that provide practical and applied solutions to the challenges in the cheese and dairy industry.

Dr. Aisha Abdelmaksoud confirmed that holding this training course was due to the large consumption of different types of cheese, as data issued by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development indicate that the volume of cheese consumed in Egypt will reach 734 thousand tons by 2028, as the demand for cheese increases, which It is one of the most popular foods all over the world, in addition to the announcement by the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology to open the door to receiving proposals for applied research projects and economic technological solutions to meet the challenges facing the local industry (Apple 2 initiative), which was launched in July 2022. She announced that the dairy department has obtained four research projects with this initiative in cooperation between the Academy of Scientific Research and Alexandria University, and they are: a project to produce starter cultures for the Rumi cheese industry (white cheese, Damietta cheese, and speeding up the maturity of Rumi cheese), a project to manufacture Rumi cheese with a starter with the best salting method, and a project to produce a natural preservative for milk and study its effect on the components of milk, and a project to fortify yogurt with sweet potatoes for patients with diabetes and high cholesterol.
