Next Wednesday.. Inauguration of Faculty of Pharmacy’s Second International Conference PHS 2022
Under the auspices of Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, the activities of the second international conference organized by the Faculty of Pharmacy, Alexandria University, and the accompanying exhibition, will commence next Wednesday morning, the 23rd of November, and will last for two days.
Dr. Mervat Qassem, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy and President of the Conference, said that this year's conference adopts "Egypt's Vision for Health Care 2030". The Egyptian Medicine Authority and more than 21 Arab and foreign countries are participating in this year’s edition of the conference, and it hosts nearly 60 scholars of pharmaceutical and medical sciences from various Egyptian and international universities, and more than 1,000 participants from Egypt and around the world. In addition, 20 medical institutions and Egyptian and international companies in the field of manufacturing and marketing medicine, devices, equipment, and public pharmacies will participate in the conference, which is considered one of the largest international conferences for pharmaceutical and health sciences held in Egypt and the Middle East.
The Dean added that the conference will also organize 18 sessions that include 53 scientific lectures, dialogues, and workshops, to be delivered by 21 scientists from international universities and 32 Egyptian scientists, and it also includes an exhibition of 118 research posters to get acquainted with the latest findings in the fields of pharmaceutical sciences, clinical pharmacy, therapeutics and pharmacoeconomics.
Alexandria University Organizes Online Webinar for Global Entrepreneurship Week
As part of the activities of the Alexandria University Incubator for Educational Innovations and Educational Technology PILOT, in collaboration with the Enterprise Development Agency, and on the occasion of the Global Entrepreneurship Week, the Centre for Educational Innovations and Distance Learning at the university organizes an online webinar on Sunday, the 20th of November, at exactly seven o’clock in the evening.
Alexandria University Participates in Anti-Corruption Training Course
As Alexandria University is keen to spread the values of integrity and transparency, in cooperation with the National Anti-Corruption Academy, 20 employees from the administrative structure of Alexandria University participated in the training course prepared by the Academy in the field of governance and anti-corruption in Alexandria Governorate, from 13 to 16 November 2022.
Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, indicated that the university is keen to cooperate with the Administrative Control Authority to achieve sustainable development goals, by launching Egypt’s Vision 2030 and raising economic growth rates, noting that the university participates in this session with the aim of activating the values of integrity and transparency for university employees, as well as raising the efficiency of administrators at Alexandria University and spreading awareness of the dangers of corruption and ways to prevent it, and highlighting the state's efforts and strong will to fight it, through implementing the principles of the national strategy launched by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to combat corruption and spreading awareness of its negative effects and risks. He valued the great efforts exerted by the Administrative Control Authority in raising awareness of corruption issues and spreading the values of integrity and transparency, through training courses and various communication activities held by the Authority in all institutions to reduce the risks of corruption.
Mr. Mohamed Fathi Abul-Nasr, Acting Secretary-General of the University, indicated that the university leadership was keen on the participation of its employees in the training course that was held for the first time in Alexandria to raise the level of performance of the administrative structure at Alexandria University, and to establish the values of justice, responsibility, and accountability. He explained that the training program included an introduction to corruption, its causes and negative effects on Egyptian society and national security, anti-corruption frameworks in Egypt, international anti-corruption agreements, the national anti-corruption strategy, digital transformation and the information structure of the Egyptian state, governance and preventive oversight, Egypt's strategy for sustainable development, and how to disseminate the values of integrity and transparency in society.
Distinguished Participation of Alexandria University in COP27 Activities
Within the activities of the COP27 Summit for Climate Change, the Alexandria University exhibition in the Green Innovation Pavilion in Sharm El-Sheikh, witnessed the influx of a number of dignitaries, led by ministers, officials, presidents of Egyptian universities, foreign delegations participating in the conference, in addition to students from Arab and foreign countries, to learn about the contributions of the University of Alexandria in climate issues and how to confront the negative effects of climate change.
Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, indicated that the university participated in the COP27 Climate Conference, through its professors and specialized centres in the field of environmental sustainability, in cooperation with several universities and scientific bodies. He highlighted the selection of the project “Producing Green Fertilizers” to participate in COP27 and “Transforming Kima Company to a green company using green hydrogen as an energy source.” Professor Konsowa pointed out that the green hydrogen production project at Alexandria University was admired by visitors to the pavilion, as it is considered one of the main pillars of industrial development, being used in many industries, including petrochemicals, fertilizers, and major industries, as well as the solutions it presents through technologies that do not cause any environmental harm during the production and operation stages, which contributes to the reduction of harmful emissions.
He added that Alexandria University gave a presentation entitled (Alexandria University Initiatives) on various projects that aim at sustainability, and a presentation was made on the project of producing green hydrogen and green ammonia through activities where energy is stored in chemical form, which helps to reduce carbon emissions and provide a way of storing and saving energy. The conference was attended by Professor Dr. Essam Wahba, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Engineering for Postgraduate Studies and Research as a representative of the University of Alexandria, and Professor Dr. Dina El-Gayar, coordinator of the participating project of the Ministry of Higher Education.
President of Alexandria University Inaugurates Faculty of Dentistry’s 22nd International Conference
Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, inaugurated Tuesday evening the twenty-second international conference of the Faculty of Dentistry, and witnessed the signing of a letter of intent for cooperation between Alexandria University and the British University of Manchester to establish a joint bachelor's degree in dental medicine and oral surgery.
The opening session of the conference was attended by Dr. Zahi Hawass, the famous archaeologist and former Minister of Antiquities, Dr. Jacqueline Azer, Deputy Governor of Alexandria, Nihal Balbaa, Deputy Governor of Beheira, Dr. Ahmed Adel Abdel Hakim, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, in addition the presidents of the Universities of El Alamein, Pharos, and the Arab Academy for Science, Technology & Maritime Transport, the former governor of Sharkia, the Head of Dentists’ Syndicate, and the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health in Alexandria, as well as a group of faculty members and representatives of major medical companies.
At the beginning of his speech, Dr. Konsowa conveyed the greetings and appreciation of Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, to all participants in the conference, and confirmed that Alexandria University is proud to organize this conference, which is full of tremendous scientific content in the field of dentistry, where many dental affiliates around the world are keen to participate. He also emphasized the university's support for scientific conferences, as part of its vision, which includes creating an atmosphere for exchanging scientific development in all fields of knowledge and disseminating it among its members. He pointed out that Alexandria University is committed to the charter of freedom of thought and unlimited knowledge exchange and is open to historic and distinguished international universities through cooperation protocols in academic and research fields and through joint programs and degrees.
In her speech, Dr. Jacqueline Azer, Deputy Governor of Alexandria, thanked Alexandria University for organizing this conference and appreciated its scientific status and the participation of many dental professors from different countries of the world to exchange experiences, visions and research, which confirms that Egypt occupies a distinguished scientific rank.
Dr. Ahmed Adel Abdel-Hakim, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, said that it is celebrating the 46th anniversary of the first international scientific conference of dentistry in the Middle East, where the golden generation of dentistry professors set a road map to put the Faculty in its proper position. He stressed that the Faculty is keen to continue organizing this international conference with the participation of leading scientists and technology innovators in the field of dentistry to exchange experiences, research and training, which results in the advantage of attracting major companies of medical devices, equipment and tools to sponsor the conference. He also thanked everyone who took part in organizing the conference to help it come out in this brilliant way.
Dr. Mohamed Moataz Khamis, Secretary General of the Conference, confirmed that it includes more than 150 participants, professors and researchers from 20 countries, and enjoys cooperation with prominent scientific entities inside and outside Egypt, such as the Egyptian Society of Orthodontics, the Egyptian Society of Paediatric Dentistry and the International Society for Dental Research, as well as the faculties of dentistry at the Arab Academy and Pharos University. He also said that the conference is accompanied by a selection of lectures and workshops to present all that is new in the field of dentistry, and an exhibition of the latest equipment and supplies from major medical companies.
Dr. Zahi Hawass presented a documentary about recent discoveries in the Pyramids and the Valley of the Kings. He reviewed the new discoveries related to King Tutankhamun and the history of the king’s dynasty on the Western Bank of the Nile, and the relationship of the different dynasties of Pharaonic Egypt to the stage of 2500 BC.
