Under the auspices of Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, the activities of launching the national strategy for higher education and scientific research, which was launched by Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and on the sidelines of the events, a session was held on the internationalization of higher education, chaired by Dr. Abdulaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, and came out with a number of recommendations, the most important of which are: developing study programs in universities and linking them to the labor market, improving the quality of education in all regions In order to reach international accreditation, working to make Egyptian universities attractive institutions for international students, and working to issue (Student Visa) in a way that helps reach global competitiveness, establishing a mechanism for coordination between the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and faculty members, especially in interdisciplinary sciences granted from abroad, establishing a mechanism For approvals of dual and joint degrees and certificates with international universities, supporting international partnerships and coordinating with international financing agencies to support students to study abroad by creating a local channel for funding through scholarships, supporting academic and student exchange and cooperation in the field of joint scientific research, and providing scholarships to obtain master’s degrees and Ph.D.

During the activities of the National Strategy for Higher Education and Scientific Research held yesterday under the auspices of Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, and in the presence of Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, their excellencies ministers, presidents of public, private and national universities, and Mr. Gareth Bayley, British Ambassador to Cairo, Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, signed a cooperation agreement between Alexandria University and the British University of East London with the aim of cooperation through a set of double degrees and joint degrees that support Egypt’s vision 2030. These degrees are mainly concerned with industry-related programs and innovation programs that will provide opportunities for students in the labour market, in the fields of health sciences, sports, business administration and entrepreneurship, hospitality and tourism, law and justice. Cooperation will also include joint research projects, joint scientific supervision, exchange of faculty professors between the two universities, receiving visiting professors, exchange of scientific and academic materials, and live broadcasting of classes in related disciplines of common interest, as well as developing short-term language study programmes.

Under the auspices of Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, witnessed, Tuesday the 7th of March, the launch of the national strategy for higher education and scientific research in the presence of their excellencies Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and the ministers of planning and economic development, health and population, communications and information technology, finance, education and technical education, youth and sports, agriculture and land reclamation, manpower, trade and industry, as well as the presidents of public, private and national universities, and Mr. Gareth Bayley, the British ambassador to Cairo.

In his speech, Dr. Ayman Ashour gave a detailed presentation on the national strategy for higher education and scientific research, noting that the strategy is based on three main axes:
• First: The sustainable development strategy (Egypt's Vision 2030), which is based on achieving sustainable development goals (Egypt's Vision 2030) to support the geographical regions nationwide, as well as the stakeholders towards achieving a comprehensive development goal for a sustainable and successful educational sector covering all the regions of the republic, by providing a stimulating climate for the localization and production of knowledge, and linking the outputs of knowledge and innovation with the priorities of the state.
• Second: The shift towards fourth-generation universities, to keep pace with global trends by supporting the leadership of Egyptian universities in the education industry and strengthening their role as influential and decision-making bodies in meeting the needs of the labour market.
 
 
 
• Third: The relationship between the higher education structure, scientific research, and the comprehensive development plan for Egypt, as the higher education and scientific research sector is one of the pillars on which the measurement and evaluation of the economy’s performance depends, by supporting the economic development plan through promoting investment in the education and scientific research sectors, and building the digital infrastructure to bridge gaps and benefit from research and innovation outputs.
 
 
During the day's activities, Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, signed a cooperation protocols with partners from higher education institutions and industrial institutions as the nucleus of the Northern Region Alliance, consisting of: (Alexandria University - Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport - Matrouh University - El Alamein University - City of Scientific Research and Applications Technology - Alexandria Mineral Oils Company (AMOC) - Abu Qir Fertilizers Company - Board of Trustees of the New Borg El Arab City - Alexandria Businessmen Association), with the aim of strengthening academic cooperation with industry and the business community, qualifying students for the labour market, expanding business incubators in cooperation with industry within universities and developing them into a "Technology Park".
 
 
The events were witnessed by a group of leaders of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

Under the auspices of Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, the Alexandria University Cultural Salon organized an educational and awareness symposium entitled "Women's Issues between Reality and Aspirations", in which a group of faculty members and intellectuals of Alexandria participated, in the Conference Hall of the Faculty of Nursing in Smouha.

In his speech, Counselor Mohamed Samir, Deputy Head of the Administrative Prosecution Authority, spoke about the most important modern legislations that confirm the state's endeavours towards achieving the protective dimension in the national strategy and Egypt's 2030 strategy.

Dr. Magda El-Shazly, rapporteur of the National Council for Women, Alexandria branch, explained the pioneering role of the National Council for Women in serving civil society, especially in poor areas.

As for the medical aspect, Dr. Wafaa El-Sehli, Professor of Forensic Medicine and former Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine for Community Service and Environmental Development, gave a full explanation by presenting the most important forms of violence that girls and women are exposed to in poor and developing societies and ways to eliminate them.

Dr. Manal Fouda, Executive Director of the Unit for Combating Violence against Women at the university, introduced university students to the pioneering role of the Unit, stressing that its main role is awareness. She pointed out that university youth have a fundamental role as ambassadors for spreading peace, and she also showed a short film on violence provided by volunteers of the unit.

Dr. Sahar Sherif, former vice dean of the Faculty of Arts for Community Service and Environmental Development, expressed her pleasure at the success of the symposium, being the first activity of the Alexandria University Cultural Salon for the academic year 2023.

The symposium was attended by Dr. Baheya Galal, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Specific Education, Dr. Salah Suleiman, University Coordinator for the Community Issues Course, Coordinators of the Unit for Combating Violence, in addition to a group of faculty members, the Faculty of Arts Students Union team under the supervision of Dr. Nadia Abdelqader, as well as a number of civil society and media leaders.

On Monday the 6th of March 2023, Professor Dr. Abdelziz Konsowa President of Alexandria University, received a delegation from the American Fulbright Commission, headed by Dr. Maggie Nassif, Director of the Fulbright Commission in Cairo, to discuss ways of cooperation, introduce Fulbright grants for research and study in the United States of America, and contribute to promoting and developing the skills of graduates and researchers at Alexandria University, as well as creating opportunities for the exchange of cultures, information and experiences between professors and students of Alexandria University and American universities.

The meeting was attended by vice-presidents of the university, the deans and vice-deans of the faculties of medicine, engineering, science, arts and pharmacy, as well as the directors of the International Relations Office and the Office of Innovation Support and Technology Transfer and Marketing (TICO) at Alexandria University.

During the meeting, Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa welcomed the delegation of the Fulbright Commission, pointing out that the university is keen to open fields of academic and research cooperation with international bodies and advanced international universities. He added that it is expected that there will be great cooperation with the Fulbright Commission by bringing visiting professors to the University of Alexandria to benefit from their expertise in the various departments and specializations needed by the university, and also to cooperate with American universities that have double degrees with Alexandria University through research, scholarships and study for a period of one or two semesters. Alexandria University President pointed out that he hopes that the aspects of research cooperation will serve the Alexandrian community, especially in the medical field and surgical operations to benefit from the expertise of American doctors in this field, and environmental projects that can find solutions to environmental and societal problems in Alexandria.
For her part, Dr. Maggie Nassif, Director of the Fulbright Commission office in Cairo, praised the role of Alexandria University in developing scientific research, advancing the quality of the educational process, and constantly striving to develop the human element and keep abreast of global scientific developments in various disciplines.
She announced that the Fulbright commission will organize an online introductory seminar within the coming period, to explain the Fulbright programs to postgraduate students, faculty members, and alumni, and share all the required information on how to apply.

During the meeting, the programs and opportunities offered by the Commission to Egyptian students were reviewed. These scholarships are now open for post-graduate students to develop their skills at all levels, fully funded by the Fulbright Commission and meet all the needs of those who want to develop themselves at different levels. These programs include the Master’s program and post-doctoral research, in addition to the existence of a new program for doctoral students at the University of Alexandria for joint supervision work with professors of American universities, and a program for those interested in developing their artistic skills such as drawing, photography, design and cinema by enrolling in courses at the master’s level. Other programs include the MBA 4 program, which aims to build administrative cadres and develop administrative performance within the university by enrolling in specialized academic programs in the United States of America, and a program for graduates of the faculties of Dar Al Uloom, Islamic Studies, Law and Translation, in addition to the Foreign Language Teacher program, which is an opportunity for English language teachers in Egyptian universities and schools to travel to the United States of America in order to develop themselves in their field of specialization and they can also teach the Arabic language for the American community.
 
 
 
 
The meeting also reviewed grants for post-doctoral research and online lectures that students can benefit from by listening to information that helps them develop their skills in their fields of specialization.
