Within the framework of consolidating ways of cooperation between Alexandria University and African countries, and in implementation of the directives of Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of the University, the Centre for Capacity Development of Faculty Members at the University presented a training course for 7 faculty members of the University of N'Djamena in Chad, during the period from the 15th until the 22nd of March 2023.
 
 
 
Dr. Ashraf El-Ghandour, Vice President of the University for Postgraduate Studies and Research, received the members of the Chadian delegation on Wednesday after the end of their training program, in the presence of Dr. Mohamed Abdallah Zaki, Coordinator of Alexandria University Branch in Chad.
 
 
 
During the visit, Dr. El-Ghandour asserted the university’s full support for brothers from African countries, extending bridges of communication with them and supporting them in all fields, especially education and scientific research, as it is the most important component of progress and development. He stressed the university’s readiness to repeat these training programs to achieve maximum benefit for all faculty members and researchers in African countries.
For their part, the members of the delegation expressed their thanks and great appreciation to Alexandria University and its leaders for providing such distinguished training programs, and their review of the distinguished and purposeful content provided by Alexandria University, which helps them develop the educational process at their university.
The training program included developing their skills in several areas: "institutional excellence, leadership and strategic thinking, developing executive leadership skills, quality standards in the educational process, innovative problem-solving and decision-making, preparing and managing projects, and intellectual property."

The Community Service and Environmental Development Council at Alexandria University, in its session chaired by Dr. Ashraf El-Ghandour, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research and Acting Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, approved the proposal submitted by the Faculty of Physical Education for Men to organize a community initiative under the title “Our Faculty is Without Bullying” with the intention of spreading the of this initiative at the university level to be a university without bullying, in order to shed light on this phenomenon that threatens Egyptian society, and the formation of a specialized committee to present its vision and recommendations in this regard.

 The Council approved several cooperation protocols between each of Alexandria University represented by the Faculty of Education and Salah El-Din International School, the cooperation protocol between the Faculty of Agriculture at Saba Pasha and the General Authority for Cotton Arbitration and Testing, and the cooperation protocol between Alexandria University and “Fahem” Foundation for Psychological Support regarding the exchange of experiences and studies in the field of mental illness.
 
 
 The Council was informed of the activities of the university faculties, and various seminars dealing with a number of important issues such as the Faculty of Law symposium entitled "Egypt's Role - the Future", the Mental Health Symposium, the organization of Welcome Ramadan bazaars to provide commodities and foodstuffs at reduced prices, as well as agricultural and industrial exhibitions, seminars on religious awareness and how to face extremism and harassment, and seminars on dealing with disasters and earthquakes, in addition to various workshops for the development of handicrafts.
• The Council was also informed of other activities such as the literacy convoy organized by the Faculty of Education to the first village of El-Amriya, the second recruitment forum, the ”100 million health campaign” organized by the Faculty of Science, English language and computer courses, and other various community service activities to serve the university students and employees.

Alexandria University students succeeded in eradicating the illiteracy of 1,065 male and female citizens in the January 2023 session, according to the educational process database records.
 
 
Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, praised this important achievement, stressing the university's keenness to play its role in community service within the framework of the university's social and national responsibility, and in implementation of the state's plan to achieve the goals of sustainable development until 2030, including addressing the dangers of illiteracy. He also indicated that Alexandria University established its Centre for the Eradication of Illiteracy to implement an integrated strategy to support this national project at the university level.
 
 
 
Dr. Mohamed Anwar, Dean of the Faculty of Education, indicated that this achievement is the culmination of the efforts of all the participants in this project from the university staff, and the efforts of its students participating in eradicating illiteracy. He sincerely thanked the students of the educational sector at the university as the main partners in the success of reaching this achievement.

Dr. Ashraf El-Ghandour, Vice President of Alexandria University for Postgraduate Studies and Research, stressed the necessity of completing the registration of postgraduate students’ files, explaining that the registration deadline for these files is the 1st of April 2023. This came during the session of the Graduate Studies and Research Council on the 20th of March, at the university's great hall.

* The council took note of University Council Decision No. 9 of 2015 regarding exempting master's and doctoral students from submitting a dissertation in the traditional form, as well as from a public discussion session, on the condition that their thesis research is published in distinguished international publication, and the role of the digital library in that.
 
 
* The Council was informed of the decision of the University Council to obtain the degree through academic publication and digital library reviews, as well as equivalent certificates and their supplementary materials and conditions.
 
 
 
* The council reviewed the report submitted by Dr. Perihan Salem about the university’s graduate studies and research sector organizing a workshop at the Institute of Graduate Studies and Research, on university ranking and scientific publishing under the title: “Research Planning & its Reflection on Global Ranking”, in cooperation with the International Relations Office and the Elsevier Office in Cairo. The workshop was attended by 52 participants including vice deans, researchers, and vice-deans’ assistants for postgraduate studies from several faculties and institutes of the university.
* The Council approved cooperation protocols between the Faculty of Business at Alexandria University and each of the Trade Union Committee of the Egyptian Tax Authority, the Trade Union Committee of the Egyptian Customs Authority, the Trade Union Committee of the Real Estate Tax Authority in Alexandria, and Ashrakat Charity Foundation.
* The Council also approved a number of memorandums of understanding for academic cooperation between the University of Alexandria and each of the University of Jordan, the University of Zintan in Libya, and the University of Mostar in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
