Dr. Ashraf El-Ghandour Attends Opening of "Welcome Ramadan and Siwa Products" Bazaar at Faculty of Education
Under the auspices of Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, Dr. Ashraf El-Ghandour, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research and Acting Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, opened today, Sunday the 19th of March 2023, the “Welcome Ramadan and Siwa Products” bazaar at the Faculty of Education, Alexandria University, in the presence of Dr. Mohamed Anwar, Dean of the Faculty of Education, Dr. Mohamed El-Feki, Dean of the Faculty of Law, Dr. Hani Khamis, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, and Dr. Salem Abdelrazek, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Education for Environmental Affairs and Community Service.
In his speech, Dr. Ashraf El-Ghandour emphasized that the Welcome Ramadan bazaar comes on the occasion of the blessed month of Ramadan, as an initiative of the community service sector at the university to reduce the financial burden on citizens and university workers, indicating that the initiative aims to provide basic and strategic commodities at reduced prices and with high quality in preparation for the holy month. El-Ghandour emphasized the effective and significant role of the participating parties in organizing that bazaar, which offers all commodities at reasonable prices for all.
While Dr. Mohamed Anwar confirmed that this bazaar provides all the goods, needs and requirements of Ramadan, including dates, honey, olive oil, nuts, herbs, spices and Siwa products. Anwar stressed the importance of holding such events at this time in order to reduce the burden on the employees of Alexandria University, as the products are distinguished by their high quality and low prices.

In a related context, Dr. Ashraf El-Ghandour inaugurated the flower nursery at the Faculty of Education, Alexandria University, coinciding with the spring holidays. He also inspected the Academic Advising Unit. El-Ghandour thanked the Dean of the Faculty, faculty members, and faculty staff for their efforts in developing and improving the educational process at the faculty.







President of Alexandria University Meets High-Level Delegation of American Universities to Discuss Academic and Research Cooperation
On Thursday the 16th of March, Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, received a high-level delegation of representatives of a number of American universities, AMIDEAST and the American Embassy in Cairo to discuss ways of academic and research cooperation between Alexandria University and American universities in many academic fields, and research of common interest, as well as the possibility of signing protocols and cooperation agreements in the undergraduate and graduate studies, exchanging professors and students, and hosting visiting professors.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Ashraf El-Ghandour, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, and Dr. Wael Nabil, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, a number of deans and vice deans of faculties at Alexandria University, the Office of International Relations, and representatives of AMIDEAST Egypt.
The meeting featured a presentation on Alexandria University, its various faculties and institutes, the distinguished study programs that are unique to the university, the proposed research cooperation aspects, the proposed double degrees, the ranking of Alexandria University in the various international classifications, and the cooperation protocols and double degrees signed by Alexandria University with American universities and other international universities.
This was presented by the deans of the Faculties of Medicine, Pharmacy, Engineering, Science, Dentistry, Arts, Commerce, Economic Studies and Political Science, agriculture in Saba Basha.
In his speech, Dr. Konsowa welcomed the American delegation, which included representatives from 12 American universities, namely the University of New Jersey, the University of North Carolina, the University of Colorado, the University of Pennsylvania, the University of Massachusetts in Boston, the University of Alabama, the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, Tufts University, Wellesley College in Massachusetts,
George Washington University, Michigan State University, and the University of California at Santa Cruz.
Dr. Konsowa indicated that Alexandria University adopts an ambitious strategy, aspiring to internationalize education and forge many partnerships and alliances with prestigious international universities, and establish dual academic degrees, especially with distinguished American universities and research institutes, and attract foreign students. He pointed out that there is great cooperation with the American side in many different scientific and research fields through partnership between American universities, professional development centers at Alexandria University, and the Center of Excellence for Water at Alexandria University, which are funded by the US Agency for International Development. Dr. Konsowa also indicated the possibility of cooperation in establishing joint programs at Alexandria University branch in South Sudan, as well as the Alexandria International University to be established, where the study will be on the basis of joint programs and degrees in cooperation with international universities, and the formation of partnerships with prestigious international institutions and companies. He referred to the participation of Alexandria University during the activities of the COP27 climate conference, with projects related to "transforming the Kima company into a green company through the use of green hydrogen as an energy source", as well as the signing of a cooperation agreement between the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the International Labor Organization, and the establishment of interactive platforms in seven public universities, including Alexandria University, which will head the universities of the Northern Alliance.
For its part, the American delegation expressed their desire to create more cooperation with the prestigious Alexandria University at all research and academic levels, the desire and direction of international universities to cooperate and exchange research experiences with them.







Faculty of Economic Studies and Political Science Celebrates Egyptian Diplomacy Day
As part of the Faculty of Economic Studies and Political Science at Alexandria University celebration of the Egyptian Diplomacy Day on the 15th of March each year, and under the auspices of Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of the University, the Faculty organized a symposium entitled "Egyptian Foreign Policy and the Current Transformations in International Politics". The guest speaker of the symposium was Ambassador Mohamed El-Orabi, former Minister of Foreign Affairs, and it was moderated by Dr. Mamdouh Mansour, Head of the Department of Political Science at the faculty, in the presence of a group of professors, faculty members, assistant staff, and students from the Departments of Economics and Political Science.

In his speech, Dr. Ahmed Wahban, Dean of the Faculty, welcomed the guest speaker, pointing out the goal of the meeting, which is to introduce new generations of students to the national and historical role of its loyal men, and the pivotal role played by Egyptian diplomacy since the re-establishment of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Egypt on March 15, 1922 at the two levels; Regional and international, emphasizing the high efficiency of Egyptian diplomacy with all its authentic national cadres. Dr. Wahban emphasized that Egyptian diplomacy has succeeded over the past decades in overcoming many challenges, adapting to international changes, and establishing balanced relations with all countries of the world. He pointed out that the basics that Egyptian diplomacy enjoys in its policy, being always based on a balance between principles and interests.

In his lecture, Ambassador Mohamed El-Orabi began his speech by expressing his pleasure for visiting the Faculty of Economic Studies and Political Sciences, Alexandria University, where seven of its graduates joined the Egyptian diplomatic corps at the beginning of this year, which is considered a sign of success for the faculty and conclusive evidence of the quality and efficiency of its education. The ambassador gave a number of advice to students to pass the Ministry of Foreign Affairs exams, foremost of which is the need to master at least two foreign languages, in addition to full proficiency in the Arabic language, and good knowledge of international law and history, stressing that diligence and competence are the only criteria for passing the exams of the diplomatic corps. He gave a definition of foreign policy and diplomacy, referring to the pivotal role that diplomacy plays in our daily lives and its direct impact on the internal affairs of states. Ambassador Mohamed El-Orabi stressed that the Egyptian state is walking on a very delicate balance between principles and interests, which requires a very great deal of accuracy and professionalism. He stressed that Egypt's geographical location is primarily a strategic location and that the Suez Canal is a strategic added value, especially with the increasing geo-strategic importance of the Red Sea. As for the Egyptian foreign policy towards the strategic neighbourhood, the ambassador pointed out that Egypt's foreign policy with the strategic neighbouring countries depends on the policy of peace, building stability and development.

Ambassador El-Orabi emphasized that Egyptian diplomacy is certainly capable of keeping pace with all changes taking place in the international arena with efficiency, perfection, and a calm and balanced manner.
The symposium ended with an open discussion and questions from the students and faculty members who were answered by the guest of the meeting.

President of Alexandria University congratulates the Alexandria University team for passing the training program on digital teaching and learning

During the meeting, the University President also congratulated Dr. Dina Wahiba, Executive Director of the Educational Innovations and Distance Learning Unit at the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels, on the success of the event organized by the unit under the title "In Love with Alexandria", which worked on developing students' innovative skills in the field of tourism, in cooperation with the Tourism Promotion Authority.







Dr. Wael Nabil Presides Beirut Arab University as of September 2023
Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, congratulated Dr. Wael Nabil, Vice President of Alexandria University for Education and Student Affairs, on the occasion of the Board of Trustees’ decision to appoint him as President of Beirut Arab University, starting from the beginning of next September, for a period of four years, wishing him success in his new position.
This announcement came today during the signing ceremony of the cooperation protocol between Alexandria and Beirut Arab Universities at the headquarters of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, in the presence of Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Kamel Galal, Minister Plenipotentiary, representing the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Ammar Al-Houri, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Endowment of Righteousness and Benevolence Association (Waqf Al-Birr-wal-Ihsan), and his accompanying delegation, and Dr. Mohamed Samir Hamza, Acting Head of the Cultural Affairs and Scholarships Sector.
Dr. Wael Nabil is the thirteenth president of Beirut Arab University since its establishment in 1960. He is a professor of general surgery at the Faculty of Medicine since 2015. He held the position of head of the university hospital sector for two years from 2017 to 2019, and then he was appointed dean of the Faculty of Medicine and chairman of the university hospital board from 2019 until January 2022. Dr. Nabil was appointed as Vice President of Alexandria University for Education and Student Affairs from January 2022 until now, and he obtained the shield of the Egyptian Medical Syndicate and the ideal doctor award of the Republic in 2015. He is a member of several scientific societies specialized in laparoscopic surgeries, and a member of many coordination and technical committees at Alexandria University.
