President of Alexandria University Participates in Inauguration of Bibliotheca Alexandrina International Book Fair
Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, participated this afternoon in the inauguration of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina International Book Fair 19th edition, which will be held from July 15 to 28, 2024, in the presence of Dr. Ahmed Hanno, Minister of Culture, Lieutenant General Ahmed Khaled, Governor of Alexandria, Dr. Ahmed Zayed, Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, Dr. Hesham Abdelaziz, Head of the Religious Sector, on behalf of the Minister of Endowments, Dr. Hind Hanafi, former President of Alexandria University, as well as ambassadors and consuls of Arab and foreign countries, intellectuals and members of the civil society.
During the opening ceremony, Dr. Konsowa explained the keenness of Alexandria University to cooperate with the Bibliotheca Alexandrina in reviving the cultural role of the city of Alexandria, which represents a model of multiculturalism and civilization, pointing out the importance of motivating students and youth to read and learn to build an aware and educated generation capable of effective participation in building the new republic.
In his speech, Dr. Ahmed Hanno praised the role of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina International Book Fair in establishing a distinguished cultural movement between various publishing houses, intellectuals, and Alexandrian youth as an extension of Egypt's enlightening role and consolidating Egypt's cultural leadership, stressing the participation of the Ministry of Culture in the exhibition's activities through the Egyptian General Book Authority.
Lieutenant General Ahmed Khaled stressed Alexandria Governorate's support for all cultural activities in the governorate, believing in the importance of culture in spreading awareness and enhancing the concept of loyalty and belonging among young people, praising the role of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina as a cultural and civilizational meeting place between the East and the West, and its role as an integrated scientific and cultural edifice, stressing President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's support for the Bibliotheca Alexandrina as a forum for intellectuals to communicate and a cultural window for Alexandrian youth.
Dr. Ahmed Zayed announced that the Bibliotheca Alexandrina is launching the Alexandria Reading Award this year to encourage young people to read, in addition to a poetry forum at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina and screening a group of cultural films for young people under the title (Aref) “Knowing”. He added that the 19th edition of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina International Book Fair includes about 160 cultural events with the presence of 600 cultural figures and the participation of 77 publishers. The events vary in their themes between history and literature, Egyptian drama, writing in all its arts, media, youth, women, children, publishing, Egypt between history and literature, artificial intelligence and industrial creative content, awards and creators, Egyptian cultural relations, and meetings with prominent figures.
During the Book Fair period, the Bibliotheca Alexandrina offers a variety of activities and practical workshops that aim to enhance interaction and effective participation from the public, with a focus on contemporary cultural and social issues, and to enhance the role of Alexandria as a leading city in the cultural and artistic fields, in addition to a variety of activities.



President of Alexandria University Receives Delegation of Scientific Research and Technology Academy to Discuss Cooperation in Quantum Computing Field
Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa President of Alexandria University, received Dr. Gina El-Feki, Acting President of the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology, the deputies of the Academy, and a delegation from the Military Technical College, as part of their visit to the Centre of Excellence in Quantum Computing at the Faculty of Science, and the Alexandria Group in Quantum Computing, which is one of the largest research groups in this field in Egypt, the Middle East and Africa, to discuss ways of joint cooperation in the field of quantum computing.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Sherine Khattab, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Science, and Dr. Ahmed Younes, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Science for Education and Student Affairs.
In his speech during the meeting, Dr. Konsowa welcomed the guests to Alexandria University, stressing the university's keenness to cooperate with the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology and the Military Technical College in various scientific and research fields in general, and the field of quantum computing in particular, pointing out the importance of combining the efforts of various academic bodies to develop technology for this important field.
It is worth noting that quantum computing is an interdisciplinary field that includes aspects of computer science, physics, and mathematics that use quantum mechanics to solve complex problems faster than conventional computers. This field includes research on hardware and application development.
President of Alexandria University Inaugurates Faculty of Business 21st International Conference
Under the auspices of Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, inaugurated today, Saturday, 13th of July 2024, the activities of the 21st International Scientific Conference of the Faculty of Business, which is held under the title "Global Challenges and Achieving Business Sustainability", in the presence of Dr. El Sayed El-Seifi, Dean of the Faculty of Business, Dr. Alaa El-Gharbawi, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Business for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, Mr. Ahmed El-Wakil, President of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce, Mr. Mohamed Hanno, President of the Alexandria Businessmen Association, and a group of faculty members of the Faculty of Business, as well as businessmen, civil society organizations, and members of the financial and business community in Alexandria.
In his speech, Dr. Konsowa stressed the need to work scientifically to overcome various challenges, noting that these challenges may represent promising opportunities, and explained that Alexandria Governorate is a first-class industrial governorate as it owns 58% of the gas and petrochemicals industries in Egypt, pointing out the need to achieve sustainability in all fields to build the new republic, which relies primarily on a knowledge-based economy in the true sense of sustainability.

Dr. Konsowa added that Alexandria University has taken it upon itself to adopt an ambitious strategy to ensure sustainability by linking the outputs of scientific research to industry, noting that Alexandria University has many initiatives to achieve sustainability, indicating that the construction work of the Technology Park of Alexandria University has been completed in order to finance applicable scientific research. He called on all members of the business and financial community who have innovative initiatives and ideas that can be applied to join the Technology Park to adopt these ideas and bring them to light. Konsowa pointed out the expansions witnessed by Alexandria University and achieving international competitiveness (internationalization at home) through the partnerships concluded by Alexandria University with major international universities and establishing branches of these international universities on Egyptian soil, such as establishing a branch of the Finnish University in Borg El Arab and signing a joint scientific degree with the University of Manchester in the field of medicine, dentistry and pharmacy, and many other international universities that rely primarily on sustainability.

Dr. El Sayed El-Seifi stressed that the choice of the conference title was not isolated from the reality of life and the challenges we are currently witnessing, noting that the conference topic addresses business sustainability, which is no longer just a trend but has become a basic necessity for the future of business and the nation. Dr. El-Seifi added that sustainability includes three pillars: economic prosperity, social justice, and environmental protection. He stressed that we must move towards many modern strategies in human resources management, making data-based decisions, embracing technology, using artificial intelligence and automation to simplify human resources operations, using marketing policies for business sustainability, using green marketing techniques, participating in environmentally friendly advertising, evaluating environmental, social and governance factors to provide a more complete picture of companies, and supporting resource optimization to assess climate change risks.
Dr. El Seifi stressed the need to pay attention to financing and investment management for business sustainability, which is represented in green financing in sustainable businesses and projects, relying on investments that generate financial returns, and searching for alternative financing sources such as crowdfunding platforms and influential investors, using tax and customs systems, digitization, addressing tax evasion, and eliminating bureaucracy.

Dr. Alaa El-Din El-Gharbawy pointed out that there are many challenges facing the Egyptian economy, such as energy challenges, wars and geopolitical unrest, stressing that the conference will discuss all these challenges to try to find solutions for them, in addition to urging institutions to adopt sustainability to develop their work performance, because there are negative effects resulting from not using sustainability in economic and productive institutions that lead to the inability of these institutions.
While Mr. Ahmed El-Wakil stressed the importance of the conference topic to confront the challenges facing the Egyptian state. El-Wakil presented a set of recommendations to achieve economic growth, including restoring confidence in the banking system, reducing inflation, activating the role of productive sectors, giving absolute priority to manufacturing for export purposes, reviewing the state's administrative structure, adhering to the principle of the unity and comprehensiveness of the budget, respecting investor contracts and attracting foreign investments.
While Mr. Mohamed Hanno stressed the need to raise the efficiency of the state's administrative apparatus, restructuring it and eliminating bureaucracy, and praised the role of Alexandria University and its support for the financial and business sector in Alexandria by establishing business incubators and opening waste recycling plants to support sustainability.






President of Alexandria University Congratulates Lieutenant General Ahmed Khaled on Being Appointed Governor of Alexandria
Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, congratulated Lieutenant General Ahmed Khaled, Governor of Alexandria, on Sunday, July 7, 2024, on assuming his new position as Governor of the Bride of the Mediterranean, at the governorate headquarters in Abis region, wishing him high status and continued success and progress. Dr. Konsowa headed the University delegation that included Dr. Saeed Allam, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, Dr. Hisham Saeed, Vice President of the University for Graduate Studies and Research Affairs, Dr. Ali Abdelmohsen, Acting Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs, and Dr. Walid Abdelazim, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Engineering for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs.
During the meeting, Dr. Konsowa said that Alexandria University will harness all its capabilities, potential and human energy to serve the governorate and help its progress, noting that the university, in cooperation with the governorate, is designing and supervising the implementation of many of its development projects located on the land of Alexandria Governorate. He added that Alexandria University has visions for studies and projects that can be used in development and service projects and future planning for the governorate in order to advance and progress.
For his part, Lieutenant General Ahmed Khaled thanked the President of Alexandria University and the accompanying delegation for their congratulations, stressing the need to enhance cooperation between the governorate and the university in various fields, as it is the scientific arm and the first house of expertise for the governorate through what it does in providing scientific consultations and expertise to the governorate in all fields.

Alexandria University and Sadat City University Sign Cooperation Protocol in Engineering Consultancy
Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, and Dr. Shaden Moawia, Acting President of Sadat City University, signed a cooperation protocol between the two universities in the field of engineering consulting.
The protocol was signed in the presence of Dr. Saeed Allam, Vice President of Alexandria University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, Dr. Sherif Mohamed Ali, Vice President of Sadat City University for Education and Students Affairs, Major General Amr Allam, Permanent Undersecretary of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Representative of Care Contracting Company and Representative of the National Service Authority, Dr. Essam Wahba, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Alexandria University, and Dr. Walid Abdelazim, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Engineering for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs at Alexandria University.
Dr. Konsowa pointed out that the protocol included the Engineering Centre at Alexandria University reviewing the design studies and structural and architectural designs for the works being implemented and preparing design studies for new buildings that Sadat City University may need, and periodically supervising the implementation of the projects, constructions, buildings and infrastructure networks it needs.
Dr. Shaden Moawia stressed that this cooperation is due to the scientific value and technical expertise of Alexandria University, which qualifies it to carry out the tasks assigned to it through this protocol, explaining that it was agreed to form a joint committee from both sides to work on strengthening, developing and advancing cooperation, coordinating between them, and exploring prospects for cooperation in various fields and working to resolve and overcome any obstacles.
