Under the auspices of Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, the sixth conference organized by the Centre for Educational Innovations and Distance Learning - Alexandria University concluded the day before yesterday, under the title "Relations between academia and industry for sustainable educational innovation: The role of technology in breaking barriers and building bridges."
Dr. Ghada El-Khayat, Director of the Centre, pointed out that the conference witnessed a large attendance from all segments of the university community from inside and outside Alexandria University, and the industrial community, and was a great opportunity for networking and creating new projects in cooperation between the university and the industrial community. She explained that several training sessions were held on the sidelines of the conference on entrepreneurship in medical specialties and life sciences, creating a digital identity for university students and professors to better access the labour market, and training in learning management systems and the use of artificial intelligence to develop educational content and activities. The conference also included two sessions to present research, one on research in natural sciences and life sciences, and the other on research in the field of humanities and social sciences. The training ended with the launch of a competition among trainees to develop an electronic course with artificial intelligence tools to be implemented and presented to Alexandria University students.
The conference sessions witnessed distributing awards for distinguished research, as eleven faculties at the level of Alexandria University and other universities competed with 25 scientific research papers in the sectors of natural sciences and humanities. The Faculty of Agriculture, Saba Pasha, won first place in natural sciences with a research paper entitled “Coffee Waste for Healthier Soils and Stronger Crops: A Sustainable Agricultural Practice” submitted by the students Ahmed Fikry, Radwan Issa, Mohamed Hamdy, and Yostina Fouad and the academic supervisor Dr. Mohamed El Masry. The Faculty of Nursing won second place for a research paper entitled “Perception of Nursing Students Towards the Profession and their Future Career Motive.” Submitted by Alia Mohamed, Sama Mounir and academic supervisor Dr. Ayman Fawzy.
The Faculty of Agriculture, Shatby, won third place for a research paper entitled “Smart Irrigation System” submitted by Mohamed El-Sayed, Mohamed Hussein, Karim Emad, Marwan Abdellatif, and Abeer Osama, and academic supervisor Prof. Dr. Abdallah Masoud Zein El-Din.
As for the Humanities and Social Sciences sector, the Faculty of Agriculture won first place for a research paper entitled “Ways to Achieve Gender Equality in Education in Rural and Urban Egypt” submitted by Ebtisam Hesham, Sohaila Sami, Menatallah Wael and academic supervisor Prof. Dr. Doaa Hussein Ibrahim.
The Faculty of Business came in second place with a research paper entitled “An Ontological Model for Training Teaching Staff Using MetaVerse”, submitted by student Gehad Elwy and her academic supervisor Prof. Dr. Ghada El-Khayat.
The Faculty of Economics and Political Science won third place for a research entitled “The Role of Egyptian Universities in Political Socialization” by the students Basmala Ihab, Farah Ashraf, Wardshan Wagih, and Yosra Ashraf
