On 10th of April 2017, an esteemed delegation from Fulbright Commission in Egypt, headed by Dr. Maggie Nassif, Executive Director of the Fulbright paid a visit to Alexandria University

The delegation was welcomed by AU President, Dr. Essam El-Kurd. An information session was held introducing details of the programs and scholarships offered by the Fulbright commission to Egyptian students to obtain Master's degree as 30 scholarships are offered in addition to research opportunities in USA universities in engineering, agriculture, renewable energy and technological fields

Dr. Kurdi emphasized university keenness to collaborate with prestigious scientific associations to develop faculty members through offered scientific programs

Dr  Maggie Nassif stated that  the available scholarships varies from 6 months to 2 years while the deadline to apply is 4th of  May 2017

 

 

Alexandria University international conference II will be held during the period from 27 to 29 September 2017, under the title "Knowledge Integration and Innovation Pathways To Progress", within the framework of university celebrations of its diamond jubilee (1942-2017).

A selection of researchers and professors from Egyptian, Arab and foreignuniversities willparticipate in the conference.The conference will discussfollowing topics; the concept of human knowledge and its components, cognitive integration and scientific research, language and information: integration or contradiction, knowledge integration and communication technology, knowledge integration in the service of society, knowledge integration and current challenges, Egypt personality: knowledge and the challenges of progress, knowledgeintegrationand innovation after the globalization, and finally knowledge integration in the field of biotechnology.

The university will receive the contributions of faculty members on conference topicswith abstractfor each research not more than 250 words. The abstractson a CD to be sentto the office of AU vice-president for community Service Environment Development (Department of Communications and Conferences)and another soft copy to be sent via the email address This email address is being protected from spambots. The directorate of the Euro-mediternean Universities Union has recently agreed to choose Alexandria University as a representative of Egyptian universities in the permanent agency.

Prof. Dr. Mohamed Tawfik Rewiny the manager of French Section in the Faculty of Medicine participated in in the meeting on behalf of AU president. Dr. Essam El-Kurdi. During the meeting where participants presented research plans and other activities prepared by the network in collaboration with various universities in addition to suggested proposal for future plans and researches that shall be funded by international bodies like Erasmus Plus.

Dr. Rewiny stated that AU called the members to hold the next meeting in Alexandria in March 2018. Also an invitation was delivered to the Rector of Cyprus to visit Alexandria University as it intends to open a program to teach medicine in English and will inaugurate an institute to teach Arabic language.

Dr. Rewiny also contacted with universities presidents and representatives to strengthen cooperation via scientific agreements and joint research projects

Alexandria University President Dr. Essam el-Kurdi has recently received Mr. Jean-Paul de Gaudemar the President of Francophone University Association (AUF). Mr. Guademar was accompanied by Mr. Hervé Sabourin the regional director of Middle East Agency of AUF, Dr. Roshdy Zahran President of the Conference of francophone universities in Middle East, and AU former Presidents Dr. Hassan Nadir and Dr. Hend Hanafy. The attendants discussed AUF activities and proposals for the Rectangular Strategy 2018-2022 for improvement and development. Mr. Jean-Paul de Gaudemar highlighted the importance of paying attention to quality in French language education  in early stages of education and encouraging students for distinction and creativity to be in the forefront of qualified students for the labor market and capable of community service.

He add that the power of AUF consists in solidarity, partnership and good relations between countries. He stressed the need to benefit from the francophone experiences existing in colleges in order to identify the needs and solve problems. He also pointed out that the next period will see more openness to Francophone universities in the Middle East and partnership between universities to implement joint projects in a non-traditional manner.

Mr. Hervé Sabourin called for more communication between universities in the Middle East in accordance with the vision of new president Dr. Gaudemar. He also called to make use of AUF programs and grants.

The heads Francophone departments in AU faculties discussed the difficulties facing the Francophone programs in their colleges and the proposed solution for these problems through more support from AUF.

Ms and Ph.D. Scholarships

Alexandria University is announcing Master & Doctoral degree scholarships for students from the Nile Basin Countries to study in Alexandria University starting the fall semester of 2017/2018 on a competitive basis. The scholarship includes waving of tuition fees only for the duration of study (maximum 3 years for master degree and 5 years for doctoral degree).

The deadline to submit is May 31, 2017

Preference will be for students with B.Sc. with accumulated grade point average of “B” (65-74%) or above or hold a higher degree in area of his/her specialty            or related areas. Fluency in the language of study (Arabic or English) is a must.

Applicant from non speaking Arabic and English countries should submit              a certificate of fluency in either Arabic or English language.
