Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, announced the issuance of republican decisions yesterday, Saturday, to appoint university leaders. These decisions included the appointment of Dr. Mohamed Anwar Farrag, Dean of the Faculty of Education, and Dr. Hani Khamis, Dean of the Faculty of Arts.
The President of the University congratulated the new deans, wishing them success in their duties and advancing their faculties scientifically and practically.

Under the auspices of Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Health and Population, Dr. Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, and Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, the Higher Institute of Public Health will commence the activities of its tenth international conference next Sunday morning, the 27th of November. This conference is organized in collaboration with the World Health Organization (Eastern Mediterranean Office), and Save the Children International UN organization. It will be held under the title "Telehealth", and its activities will last for two days.
 
Dr. Heba El-Kady, Dean of the Institute and President of the Conference, indicated that the conference is attended by a group of college professors from universities in Egypt and the Arab world who are interested in the field of public health, as well as several speakers from Africa, Europe, and America, in addition to some online participations. She added that the conference is presenting through its sessions new visions of public health in the third millennium, as well as many aspects of the concept of telehealth, its present and future, the role it plays in emergencies and its advantages and disadvantages. She pointed out that the international conference will devote several sessions to discuss the recommendations of the Climate Summit (COP 27), where the most important of these recommendations will be discussed, and the various theses adopted by Egypt and the world will be presented. Panel discussions will be held to discuss the latest advances in the field, as well as a special session on heart diseases and their prevention, and what is new in cardiology.

Under the auspices of Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, the Faculty of Agriculture in El-Shatby organized on Saturday the 30th of December 2023, the second workshop for farmers, producers, and those interested in the tomato value chain project, in the presence of Mr. Saso Podlesnik, Ambassador of Slovenia to the Arab Republic of Egypt, Dr. Mohamed Bahey El-Din, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, vice-deans, a number of faculty members, and representatives of UNIDO in Cairo.

In his speech, Dr. Mohamed Bahey El-Din conveyed the greetings of the University President to His Excellency the Ambassador, and thanked him for participating in supporting the service center for the tomato value chain to be established in the faculty in cooperation with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), with the full support of the university and with the participation of experts from the Faculty of Engineering, Alexandria University, the Department of Food Science and Technology, and the Vegetables Department at the faculty. He pointed out that the life of the project so far is about 30 months and it is expected to be inaugurated in the coming months. Dr. Bahey El-Din also explained that the project aims to establish a service center for the tomato value chain within Alexandria University for training in tomato manufacturing processes and to increase the amount of tomatoes manufactured in Egypt, which so far does not exceed 3-4% of the production amount, which amounts to about 8-9 million tons annually.

In his speech, the Ambassador of Slovenia expressed his pride in supporting the comprehensive and sustainable development of the tomato value chain in Egypt, explaining that his country’s participation in establishing an education and service center for the tomato value chain comes within the framework of their previous commitment to establishing a technologically advanced nursery in the Nubaria region. The Ambassador pointed out that development cooperation is an important part of Slovenia's foreign policy, as it contributes to achieving more balanced and just global development, and his country also focuses on gender equality and environmental protection as the cross-cutting issues of their projects, including this project, which aims, inter alia, to increase the economic and sustainable participation of women in the tomato value chain, explaining that tomato is considered one of the most important vegetable crops in Egypt, and the same is true in Slovenia.

At the end of the meeting, the Dean presented the Faculty of Agriculture Shield to His Excellency the Ambassador, and then Dr. Heba Sabry, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Community Service and Environmental Development, accompanied His Excellency the Ambassador on an inspection tour of the manufacturing hall (service center) in the Department of Food Science and Technology and some of the various departments of the faculty, to learn about their various activities.

The joint collaboration between #HBMSU in Dubai UAE & Alexandria University in Egypt is the first of its kind in the Arab world, resulting in an academic program that earned accreditation from the concerned ministries of education in both countries; “Master of Science in Innovation and Change Management”.

This will contribute to opening a new level of education and support the Arab youth to adopt a modern vision for learning.

Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, congratulated the students of the Faculty of Pharmacy who won first place in the competition for the best graduation project, at the DUPHAT International Exhibition for Pharmaceutical and Technology in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, among 400 projects from 72 different countries.
Dr. Mervat Qassem, Dean of the College of Pharmacy, said that the project was attended by 15 students, and it is an electronic application that demonstrates how to deal with the side effects of medicines, especially kidney transplant patients, and that it adjusts the dates of different doses, and was designed with the help of a programmer, who founded it According to their instructions, the program is characterized by the possibility of using it without the Internet, and it is also available for free without paying any costs.
The Dubai International Exhibition for Pharmaceuticals and Technology honored the winning students of Alexandria University, in the presence of a group of the best international companies and leading names in the fields of pharmacy and medical technology, in addition to the participation of doctors, project owners, pharmaceutical manufacturing and distribution companies.
