The Alexandria University Council, headed by Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of the University, honoured on its meeting, the team of students of the Faculty of Law at Alexandria University, who won the second place in the “Arab Moot Court” competition in its ninth edition, which was recently held in the State of Kuwait, under the auspices of Kuwait International Law School.
 
 
In his speech, Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa extended his thanks and appreciation to the Kuwait International Law School for the distinguished efforts it made during this competition. He also thanked the administration of the Faculty of Law, Alexandria University, indicating that Alexandria University always seeks to develop educational curricula, use modern technologies, and focus on continuous training to have highly efficient alumni with creativity and innovation.

While Dr. Mohamed El-Feky explained that the Arab Moot Court is a scientific legal competition that brings together students of law schools in the Arab world annually for scientific competition on a hypothetical case, through which students are trained on how to write legal notes and plead before a committee of arbitrators with the aim of honing legal talents and work on the excellence of the participating students through the exchange of experiences and different cultures. He pointed out that the team of the Faculty of Law, Alexandria University, started the national qualifiers stage since last December, which ended with winning the first place, and then went through several stages of the qualifiers, in which 23 universities representing 13 Arab countries participated in the competition. This competition, which is one of the most prominent legal competitions in the Arabic language, ended with the Alexandria University team winning the second place after a strong match.

Recently, the first activities of the second cultural season of the Institute of Mediterranean Studies at the Faculty of Arts began, under the auspices of Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, and under the supervision of Dr. Hani Khamis, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Dr. Sahar Sharif, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, and Dr. Mohamed Omar, Director of the Institute of Mediterranean Studies, where a lecture was held under the title "Alexandria Port between Reality and Hope", in which Mr. Naval General A.H. gave a lecture. Abdel Qader Darwish, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Egyptian Group for Multi-Purpose Stations, reviewed the history of the establishment of the Alexandria Port since ancient times, the importance and centrality of the port to Egypt and the Mediterranean basin, and stressed the need to develop the port in light of the increasing demand for maritime transport services and the steady population increase and the need to keep pace with The latest maritime transport strategies and services in light of the comprehensive development plan for the Egyptian economy. He also reviewed the achievements that have already been achieved, including linking Alexandria and Dekheila ports to the reconstruction axis, as well as the construction of a multi-storey garage and others that have already been implemented. He also talked about the medium-term plan for developing the port, including the container terminal and the center. Logistic and industrial.
The lecture was followed by an open discussion with the attendees, in which the speaker touched on various topics related to the port of Alexandria, as well as maritime transport in Egypt and the eastern Mediterranean in general, pointing to the job and economic opportunities that transport projects will provide for Alexandrian youth and Egyptians.
The symposium was moderated by Dr. Amani Suleiman, assistant professor at the Institute of Mediterranean Studies. At the end of the symposium, Dr. Hani Khamis Ahmed, Dean of the Faculty honored the honorable guest and handed him the faculty’s shield, a certificate of appreciation and the Diamond Jubilee Book of Alexandria University in honor of his efforts and his distinguished national career in the military and civil fields alike.

Under the auspices of Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, the Centre for Economic Research and Studies at the Faculty of Economic Studies and Political Sciences organized an educational symposium entitled “Research Applications of Artificial Intelligence and Ethical Controls,” in which Dr. Nabil Salah El-Arabi, Professor of Digital Economics at the Faculty, and former advisor to one of the United Nations Development Program projects, lectured.
 
 
Dr. Ahmed Wahban, Dean of the Faculty, indicated that the symposium was attended by a group of faculty members, supporting staff, researchers, specialists, and students from the Departments of Economics and Political Science. He pointed out in his speech the importance of adhering to ethical controls and academic standards in scientific research, stressing that the development of artificial intelligence electronic and digital tools in academic research is not a substitute for serious, thorough scientific research, and the researchers must strive to benefit from contemporary technologies, including the potential of artificial intelligence, without falling into the trap of plagiarism or claiming intellectual property that is not their own creation.

Dr. Abeer Shaaban Abdo, Executive Director of the Centre for Economic Research and Studies, pointed out the accelerating pace of artificial intelligence innovations that cast a shadow on academic research, which necessitates the need to discuss them and learn about the advantages and risks of using these technologies in the research and academic field.
 
 
Dr. Nabil El-Arabi reviewed artificial intelligence technologies and their expected impact on human lives and scientific research. He also reviewed the latest developments in this field, pointing to several topics, most notably:
- Introduction to the chatbot using artificial intelligence.
- How does the LLM work within artificial intelligence techniques?
- A comparison between the ChatGPT application and the Bard application in terms of specifications and performance standards.
- Effective use of artificial intelligence dialogue robots in research activities.
- Ethics of using artificial intelligence applications in academic research.
The symposium included numerous interventions from the audience, including faculty members, supporting staff members, and young researchers, during which they asked various questions, and ended with an emphasis on continuing the series of symposiums on the subject of artificial intelligence and its developments, based on its great importance in the field of contemporary scientific research.

Under the auspices of Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, the Faculty of Fine Arts organized on Sunday an art exhibition of a group of artworks on the October War, designed by faculty members and the faculty's assistant staff, as part of the activities of the community service and environmental development sector at the faculty.

The organization of the exhibition coincides with Alexandria University’s celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the victories of the glorious October War, in the presence of Dr. Dina Mandour, Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Mohamed Keshk, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, and a group of faculty members, supporting staff, visual artists, and students.

In this context, Dr. Dina Mandour indicated that the exhibition includes a selection of artworks depicting the Sixth of October Victory. She pointed out that the artworks vary between painting, photography, collage, mosaic art, and specialized projects in interior design and paintings, as well as contemporary designs and interior architecture inspired by the victories of the October War, and the environmental balance in the design of public services in the city of Alexandria, in addition to a group of graphic and sculptural works about the October War.
 
 
 
 
Meanwhile, Dr. Mohamed Keshk confirmed that the Faculty of Fine Arts is in the process of issuing a booklet to document artistic works that were specially designed for the victories of the glorious October War, in addition to holding a cultural competition including national songs, painting, photography, poetry, literary texts, illustrated short stories, musical performance, composing music, and journalistic writing. He added that in conjunction with the faculty’s celebrations of the October Victory and within the framework of implementing the presidential initiative “100 Million Health,” the Faculty of Fine Arts will start organizing an event on early detection of chronic diseases, kidney disease, cancerous tumors, blood pressure diseases, diabetes, and vaccination against Covid-19, in the period from the 3rd until the 4th of October at the clinic of the main faculty building, and the clinic at the decor department building.

He stressed the faculty's readiness to organize any activities that would support and qualify students and provide a real addition to their skills and knowledge.
 
 
Mr. Ahmed Helal - Chairman of the Board of Trustees of ESDP Foundation, pointed out the role of his foundation as a youth organization belonging to civil society and has a prominent role in adopting creative ideas and turning them into reality that works to develop the quality of life of community members, and add new values ​​that raise the standard of living by empowering every creative individual, through providing them with tools and means of knowledge that qualify them to develop their ideas.
 
 
 
The opening ceremony was attended by several members of the House of Representatives, members of the Senate, faculty members, the cooperative body, and elite representatives of civil society in Alexandria from various walks of life.
