The internal excellence awards management team at Alexandria University participates in the activities of training work teams at the Institute of National Planning
Within the framework of Alexandria University’s keenness to develop and raise the efficiency of the performance of its employees, Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, directed the importance of motivating its employees to apply for the awards of the third session 2023 for government excellence, because of its important role in stimulating the spirit of positive competition and excellence and raising the level of performance in the university’s faculties In line with Egypt's Vision 2030.
In this context, Dr. Ali Musallam, a professor at the Faculty of Commerce, referred to his participation with the internal excellence awards management team at Alexandria University, who are Dr. Heba Saad - Faculty of Tourism and Hotels, Dr. Donia Adel - Faculty of Physical Education for Girls, Dr. Muhammad Hakam - Faculty of Engineering, and Dr. Muhammad Abdel Moneim The Faculty of Commerce, in the activities of training work teams with representatives of other universities, during the period from 4-6 June 2023 at the Institute of National Planning, in coordination with the Ministry of Higher Education and the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, explaining that the administration of the Egypt Award for Government Excellence has organized an introductory training workshop on Over the course of the two days, the internal awards work teams, to manage the internal excellence system, with the aim of reviewing the internal awards management mechanisms and the tasks of the work team from the universities, which will serve as a direct link with the Egypt Award for Government Excellence management team in coordination with the Supreme Council of Universities to manage the internal awards operations, he added. The Egypt Award for Government Excellence team reviewed, during the workshop, the tasks and responsibilities of the internal awards management team, to include a technical structure specialized in managing evaluation, operations, logistics and operation, communication and public relations, and technical support, in addition to the general plan for internal awards management, starting from the announcement of the awards. , training ambassadors of excellence, and then opening the door for candidacy, which is followed by evaluation processes and field visits leading to arbitration, approval of the results and honoring the winners, in addition to disseminating best practices with the aim of developing development plans and initiatives as a tool for improvement in the upcoming sessions.
Dr. El-Ghandour Attends Meeting of Training & Testing Centres Directors on Basics of Digital Transformation Certificate at Egyptian Universities
Under the auspices of Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, and in coordination with the Central Unit for Information Technology Training at the Supreme Council of Universities, Dr. Ashraf El-Ghandour, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research, witnessed the periodic meeting of the directors of training and testing centers and units on the Basics of Digital Transformation certificate in Egyptian universities and other institutions nationwide as members of the Executive Committee for Information Technology Training at the Center for Electronic and Knowledge Services of the Supreme Council of Universities.
This meeting comes with the aim of discussing issues that would ensure the implementation of training and exams on the Certificate of Fundamentals of Digital Transformation in a professional manner, especially since it has become a requirement for awarding scientific degrees for studies.
In his speech, Dr. El-Ghandour stressed the importance of this meeting in the constant pursuit of developing the Certificate of Fundamentals of Digital Transformation as it is a national certificate. He indicated that Alexandria University aspires to optimal investment in human resources as one of the strategic goals that the university seeks to achieve, by supporting and developing the capabilities of the Centre for Developing the Capacity of Faculty Members and Leaders, as the centre is entrusted with monitoring needs and developing human resources at Alexandria University, as well as training and exams for the Certificate of Fundamentals of Digital Transformation in cooperation with the Central Unit for Information Technology Training at the Supreme Council of Universities.
While Dr. Abdelaziz Emara, Executive Director of the Centre, gave a presentation on the capabilities of Alexandria University, the role and achievements of the Centre for Developing the Capacity of Faculty Members and Leaders at the University, and its role in the development of human resources.
The meeting was attended by Dr. John Fayez, Deputy Director of the Centre for Electronic and Knowledge Services, Dr. Mohamed Hassan Gadallah, Director of the Central Unit for Training in Information Technology at the Supreme Council of Universities, Dr. Saeed Abdelaziz, former Dean of the Faculty of Commerce and former Governor of Sharkia, Dr. Abdallah Mosaad Zein El-Din, Former Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Professor Mohamed Abul-Nasr, who is in charge of the work of the Secretary General of the University, and a group of trainers accredited by the Center and by the Supreme Council of Universities from Alexandria University affiliates.
Alexandria University President Receives High-ranking French Delegation to Coordinate the Operation of Fab Lab at Faculty of Engineering
Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, received a French delegation consisting of representatives of the Government of the Southern Province of France, the University of Corsica, and the Horizons Solidarités Foundation, to discuss the last details and coordination to operate the Digital Fab Lab at the Faculty of Engineering, to serve the innovators and creators among all university students.
During the meeting, Dr. Konsowa praised the cooperation with the French side, which is in line with the university's strategy to cooperate with prestigious international universities and scientific institutions. He stressed the importance of this advanced laboratory in providing an innovative educational and empirical environment for students to learn and interact with technology and creativity in the fields of design and digital industry. He added that it will also assist them in designing and manufacturing products themselves using digital and advanced industry technologies, transform their ideas into reality, discover and develop their capabilities in the field of digital design and manufacturing, and encourage their innovation and creativity.
Dr. Ziyad El-Sayyad, associate professor at the Faculty of Engineering, main researcher, and project coordinator, indicated that the Fab Lab project at the Faculty of Engineering is funded by the Government of the Southern Region in France, with the aim of cooperation in establishing an advanced laboratory for digital manufacturing and plastic recycling at the Faculty of Engineering, which is now being equipped.
The French side appreciated the existing cooperation, stressing the possibility of continuing this cooperation in the future to include other projects in the fields of heritage preservation and development, sustainability, and environmental issues.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Ghada El-Khayyat, Director of the Centre for Educational Innovations and Distance Learning at the University, Dr. Walid Abdelazim, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, and Dr. Reem Abdelhamid, Professor at the Higher Institute of Public Health.
Alexandria University Hosts University of Louisville High-Ranking Delegation
Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, received a high-ranking delegation from the American University of Louisville.
The delegation included Dr. Emmanuel G. Collins, Dean of the J. B. Speed School of Engineering, Dr. Mahendra K. Sunkara, Professor of Chemical Engineering, Dr. Guruprasad Giridharan , Professor of Bioengineering, Dr. Ayman El-Baz, Professor of Bioengineering. In his speech, Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa welcomed the American delegation to Alexandria University, stressing that the cooperation agreement with the University of Louisville is a real success story. He indicated that today is a harvest of the fruits of this agreement that was signed in 2020, and he explained that this visit comes within the framework of the academic cooperation agreement between Alexandria University, El Alamein International University, and Louisville University, which includes the establishment of dual degree programs in biomedical engineering, computer science and computer engineering. Konsowa announced the provision of three PhD scholarships at the University of Louisville in the field of renewable energy. He stressed that it is an exceptional opportunity for members of the teaching assistants’ body at Alexandria University to complete their studies at the University of Louisville. This comes within the framework of Alexandria University's strategic plan to establish partnerships and joint degrees with major international universities, as well as discussing admission procedures for the new batch in the joint program with Alexandria University, which allows students to study for two years at Alexandria University, and then travel to the United States of America to complete the rest of the courses required to obtain the dual degree.
Moreover, the admission procedures for the new batch in the dual-degree program were also discussed between Alexandria University and the University of Louisville. The program allows students to study for two years, including a preparatory year at Alexandria University, followed by two years of studying the remaining required courses in the United States to obtain the dual degree. The collaboration in conducting joint research was agreed upon as well in the fields of biomedical engineering, nanotechnology, batteries, green hydrogen, biofuels, and other areas through the establishment of a joint research laboratory and the encouragement of cooperation among faculty members and researchers in research projects. Additionally, the joint enrollment for PhD studies was activated.
While Dr. Roshdy Zahran confirmed that the cooperation agreement between Alexandria University, the American University of Louisville, and the International University of El Alamein is the result of uniting efforts, coordination, direct cooperation, and true partnership between the three universities in order for the dream to become a reality. He pointed out that there are already six students from Alexandria University who have completed their studies at the University of Louisville.
Dr. Saeed Allam confirmed that the Faculty of Engineering, Alexandria University, is one of the most prestigious engineering faculties in Egypt and the Middle East, as it includes 14 scientific departments in various engineering disciplines and has many cooperation agreements with major international universities in Europe, the United States of America, and Africa.
While the University of Louisville delegation affirmed their pride in cooperating with Alexandria University, which occupies a leading position in all scientific and research levels in Egypt and the Middle East.
