The Community Service and Environment Development Council began its session with observing a minute of silence in memory of Dr. Ahmed Zewail
The Community Service and Environment Development Council during its session held under chairmanship of Dr. Essam El-Kurdi, mourned the great scientist Dr. Ahmed Zewail as one of Egypt sons and one notable graduate from the Faculty of Science, Alexandria University. Dr. Zewil was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1999 for his researches on the femtosecond chemistry. He enriched the scientific life and the whole world by his researches. The Council observed a minute of silence in memory of the late Dr. Zewil.
The Council reviewed the medical convoys organized by the sector during this period inside and outside Alexandria with participation of the faculties of Medicine, Veterinary Medicine and Dentistry and the Institute of Medical Research and the Higher Institute of Public Health. The convoys shall provide medical services and examinations to raise the medical level and preparing a young and effective staff aware of their community role.
"Veterinary Medicine" obtained accreditation from NAQAAE
Dr. Rushdy Zahran, President of Alexandria University declared that the total number of faculties and institutes of Alexandria University, which was accredited by the National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Education became 11 faculty and institute.
This came after the meeting held in the Faculty of Engineering with Prof. Dr. Johansen Eid, the Manager of NAQAAE on the occasion of opening of a branch of the authority in AU. During the meeting, it was announced that the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine obtained the accreditation.
The meeting was attended by Prof. Dr. Essam El-Kurdi the University Vice President for Community Service and Environment Development, Prof. Dr. Abdel Aziz Konswa; Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Dr. Ashraf Nazem; Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Prof. Dr. Kamal Metwalli, Director of Quality Assurance Center of AU and a group of teaching staff members.
Application is now open scholarships in England till 8th of November
Prof. Dr. Seddik Abdul Salam, Alexandria University vice president for Higher Studies and Research, declared that the 2017/2018 scholarship program in England is open to study for one year in one of British universities for Master Degree in any discipline. The registration would be online with a deadline of 8th of November 2016.

"El-Kurdi" launches Alexandria University initiative to stimulate the internal tourism
Dr. Essam El-Kurdi AU Vice President for Community Service and Environment Development, urged faculty deputies to call faculty members, students and employees to participate in stimulating the internal tourism and visiting monuments and tourist attractions of Sinai, Nuweiba' and Taba.
The Community Service and Environment Development Council congratulated the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and the Higher Institute of Public Health on the occasion of obtaining accreditation from the National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Education.
The Council also approved the draft research submitted by Dr. Mustafa El-Neanay from the Faculty of Engineering, entitled ”Implementation of a cooperative environment for the researches of communications and wireless networks". The project is funded by the National Telecom Regulatory Authority to implement cooperative environment to be available via the Internet for all Egyptian researchers in the field of communications and
wireless networks as well as providing educational environment to be used in teaching courses of communications and wireless networks.
The Council adopted 2016/2017 Activity Plan of community service and environment development in the Faculty of Arts.
