Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, attended today, Saturday, the 2nd of November 2024, the opening session of the Youth Visions Salon in its fifth edition at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina. The salon was held under the title "Egyptian Youth... Egypt's Support: Effectiveness and Influence in Light of Current Challenges.” The event was attended by Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, Lieutenant General Ahmed Khaled, Governor of Alexandria, Dr. Jacqueline Azer, Governor of Beheira, Ambassador Nabila Makram, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of “Fahem Foundation for Psychological Support”, Dr. Ahmed Zayed, Director of Bibliotheca Alexandrina, Dr. Ali Abdelmohsen, Acting Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs, Representative Dina El-Hilali, Member of the Senate and Founder of the Youth Visions Salon, and a group of members of the House of Representatives and the Senate, civil society institutions and youth entities from various Egyptian governorates.
In his speech, Dr. Ashraf Sobhi thanked MP Dina El-Hilali for establishing the idea of the Youth Visions Salon, stressing that the salon aims to achieve rapprochement between youth and executives in the state, and is one of the real opportunities to enable youth to participate in discussing contemporary societal issues and presenting their visions for addressing them through discussions with officials and specialized experts and addressing all the challenges facing the Egyptian state. He noted that the Ministry of Youth and Sports is the big house for Egyptian youth to listen to their ideas and creativity, in addition to organizing the global youth forums held by the Egyptian state over the past ten years and establishing the Youth Coordination of Parties and Politicians, which enabled many young people to hold many political and important positions in the Egyptian state.

Dr. Sobhi stressed that the ministry is working under the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, to put all its capabilities to achieve comprehensive empowerment of youth in various economic, social, cultural, political, sports and developmental aspects through implementing many youth meetings.

Lieutenant General Ahmed Khaled stressed that Egyptian youth represent the strength of Egyptian society and are considered the main pillar in the progress and construction of every society, because they carry within them potential and creativity, noting that when Egyptian youth take an opportunity in any field, they can express themselves and give a wonderful model for their country. He added that Alexandria Governorate has many challenges, stressing that the Egyptian state is working to integrate efforts between various institutions as this is the basic criterion for success. He also stressed the need for coordination between Alexandria Governorate and Alexandria University to adopt youth ideas to serve the Alexandrian community.

Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa stressed that youth are the present and all the future, and that the youth stage is characterized by creation, creativity and innovation, so these energies must be optimally exploited, stressing that the new republic, led by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, aims to build a knowledge society by launching the "Beginning to Build the Egyptian Person" initiative and establishing a knowledge economy by building a competitive educational system and encouraging scientific research, innovation and creativity and creating the appropriate environment of legislation to adopt emerging and creative ideas for youth. In this context, Dr. Konsowa launched an initiative to embrace emerging research and creative ideas of Alexandria University students and researchers and fund it with 30 million Egyptian pounds through the Technology Park at Alexandria University to adopt these ideas and bring them to light.
 
 
 
While Dr. Ahmed Zayed, Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, confirmed that the Bibliotheca always places youth at the centre of attention, because Egyptian youth have tremendous capabilities for innovation and creativity, and they represent the largest population bloc in Egyptian society. He added that youth are a real storehouse of capabilities in many fields, and we must believe in their capabilities and aspirations, pointing out that Egyptian youth inspire hope and the gap between different generations must be bridged.
 
 
 
 
 
While Parliament Member Dina Hilali confirmed that the Youth Visions Salon is an important dialogue platform for Egyptian youth, because youth are one of the main poles of the new republic to contribute to correcting the image and enhancing awareness among Egyptian youth of the current situation, in addition to that it contributes to building bridges of dialogue with youth in various governorates, enhancing opportunities to listen to their visions and ideas that support the development process.
 
 
 
 
The salon witnessed a video presentation of youth empowerment opportunities during the era of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, and a presentation segment on the outcomes of the Youth Visions Salon in previous editions, which included presenting different visions and ideas, correcting some misconceptions, educating youth and enhancing their capabilities, and removing barriers between youth and decision-makers.

Under the auspices of Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, the sixth conference organized by the Centre for Educational Innovations and Distance Learning - Alexandria University concluded the day before yesterday, under the title "Relations between academia and industry for sustainable educational innovation: The role of technology in breaking barriers and building bridges."
 
 
 
 
Dr. Ghada El-Khayat, Director of the Centre, pointed out that the conference witnessed a large attendance from all segments of the university community from inside and outside Alexandria University, and the industrial community, and was a great opportunity for networking and creating new projects in cooperation between the university and the industrial community. She explained that several training sessions were held on the sidelines of the conference on entrepreneurship in medical specialties and life sciences, creating a digital identity for university students and professors to better access the labour market, and training in learning management systems and the use of artificial intelligence to develop educational content and activities. The conference also included two sessions to present research, one on research in natural sciences and life sciences, and the other on research in the field of humanities and social sciences. The training ended with the launch of a competition among trainees to develop an electronic course with artificial intelligence tools to be implemented and presented to Alexandria University students.
 
 
 
 
The conference sessions witnessed distributing awards for distinguished research, as eleven faculties at the level of Alexandria University and other universities competed with 25 scientific research papers in the sectors of natural sciences and humanities. The Faculty of Agriculture, Saba Pasha, won first place in natural sciences with a research paper entitled “Coffee Waste for Healthier Soils and Stronger Crops: A Sustainable Agricultural Practice” submitted by the students Ahmed Fikry, Radwan Issa, Mohamed Hamdy, and Yostina Fouad and the academic supervisor Dr. Mohamed El Masry. The Faculty of Nursing won second place for a research paper entitled “Perception of Nursing Students Towards the Profession and their Future Career Motive.” Submitted by Alia Mohamed, Sama Mounir and academic supervisor Dr. Ayman Fawzy.
 
 
 
 
 
The Faculty of Agriculture, Shatby, won third place for a research paper entitled “Smart Irrigation System” submitted by Mohamed El-Sayed, Mohamed Hussein, Karim Emad, Marwan Abdellatif, and Abeer Osama, and academic supervisor Prof. Dr. Abdallah Masoud Zein El-Din.
 
 
 
 
As for the Humanities and Social Sciences sector, the Faculty of Agriculture won first place for a research paper entitled “Ways to Achieve Gender Equality in Education in Rural and Urban Egypt” submitted by Ebtisam Hesham, Sohaila Sami, Menatallah Wael and academic supervisor Prof. Dr. Doaa Hussein Ibrahim.
 
 
 
 
The Faculty of Business came in second place with a research paper entitled “An Ontological Model for Training Teaching Staff Using MetaVerse”, submitted by student Gehad Elwy and her academic supervisor Prof. Dr. Ghada El-Khayat.
 
 
 
The Faculty of Economics and Political Science won third place for a research entitled “The Role of Egyptian Universities in Political Socialization” by the students Basmala Ihab, Farah Ashraf, Wardshan Wagih, and Yosra Ashraf

Dr. Abdel Aziz Qansouh, President of Alexandria University, participated in the World Cities Day celebration organized by Alexandria Governorate, as part of Egypt's hosting of the 12th session of the World Urban Forum in Cairo during the period from November 4 to 8, 2024, at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina.
 
 
 
The celebration was inaugurated by Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, and was attended by a number of ministers, the Governor of Alexandria, the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Egypt, the Director of the Egypt Office in the United Nations Human Settlements Program, the Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, the Vice Presidents of Alexandria University, and a number of consuls and ambassadors of Arab and foreign countries.

The World Cities Day activities discuss the issue of urban development under the slogan "A Better City for a Better Life", to enhance successful urbanization experiences and share them, and expand the establishment of smart urban cities in order to contribute to sustainable urban development and address the challenges facing urbanization around the world, and achieve the eleventh goal of the 2030 Sustainable Development Plan, which aims to make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable.

Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, reviewed during the University Council meeting in its session held today, Tuesday, October 29, 2024, what was presented during the workshop held on the sidelines of the meeting of the Supreme Council of Universities, hosted by Alexandria University last Saturday, on investment in higher education and scientific research
 
 
 
Dr. Konsowa explained the university's experience in supporting these efforts by improving the quality of the educational and research process at the university and providing special modern and advanced study programs that keep pace with the requirements of the local, regional and international labour market. He added that the university’s development efforts contribute to attracting students to join the university, by providing dual and joint programs and degrees in cooperation with major prestigious universities. He highlighted the new projects such as the international branch of the university under construction in New Smouha, Alexandria International University, and the 5 branches of international universities on the university's land in Borg El Arab, starting with the branch of the University of Tampere in Finland, which will be followed by four other international branches in Borg El Arab, in addition to the three international branches outside Egypt in South Sudan and Chad, and the Malaysian branch in the Far East, which will contribute to attracting more foreign students to study at Alexandria University and its branches. Dr. Konsowa pointed to the cooperation and integration with various academic, research and industrial institutions in line with achieving the goals of the National Strategy for Higher Education and Scientific Research and Egypt's Vision 2030.
 
 
 
 
 
The University President stressed that the deans of the faculties should take the necessary measures to prepare for the winter season in all faculties and units of the university, and to emphasize the completion of all arrangements for the mid-term exams of the first semester.
 
 
 
 
 
 The Council honoured both Professor Dr. Ibrahim Abdelhadi, Associate Professor of Psychology at the Faculty of Education, Alexandria University, and Dr. Maha Louay Hatem, Lecturer at the Department of Libraries, Faculty of Arts, Alexandria University, for winning first place - Best Research Category - in the 24th session of the award organized by the Sharjah Public Libraries Administration affiliated with the Authority under the slogan "Libraries to Empower Cultural and Creative Industries". The winning research was entitled: "A Proposed Strategic Approach to Activate the Role of Public Libraries in Enabling the Concept of Green Sustainability and Promoting Sustainable Behaviour among Beneficiaries: Bibliotheca Alexandrina as a Model".
 
 
 
 
 
As part of the university's keenness to care for its students with disabilities, the council approved the launch of various activities next week to integrate students with disabilities with their peers, with the participation of universities in the northern region and including various cultural, artistic, social and sports activities.
 
 
 
 
 
 The council approved the scientific and research cooperation protocol between Alexandria University (Faculty of Engineering) and the National Water Research Centre, and its institutes affiliated with the Ministry of Water Resources, the memorandum of understanding between Alexandria University and Al-Balqa Applied University in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and the framework cooperation agreement between Alexandria University and Poitiers University in France.
 
 
 
 
 
 The council approved the donation submitted by Mrs. Hoda Saad Youssef to the university students' hospital, consisting of two devices to operate the regular X-ray machine, worth 1.2 million Egyptian pounds, and the donations submitted to the Medical Research Institute Hospital from each of the Mohamed Ragab Foundation for Social Development, consisting of surgical endoscope devices worth 1.9 million Egyptian pounds, and from Mr. Awad bin Issa Ahmed Saleh, which are medical devices worth 1.2 million Egyptian pounds.
 
 
 
 
 
 The Council approved the promotion of 35 faculty members, 16 to the position of professor, 19 to the position of associate professor, the appointment of 26 lecturers, and the granting of 126 doctoral degrees and 248 master’s degrees in various academic disciplines.

In his speech, Dr. Hisham Saeed with the Chinese delegation at Alexandria University, a presentation was given about Alexandria University, its history, the various colleges and institutes at the university, as well as the university's publishing statistics over the past years and Alexandria University's global ranking according to various international rankings. A presentation was also given about the international branches of Alexandria University and the extent of expansion and internationalization in the various programs at Alexandria University, a presentation about the Faculty of Pharmacy and its available programs, and a review of some projects of common interest with the Chinese Academy, including the production of natural silk as a joint project between the two sides. The Chinese delegation gave a presentation about the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the projects it provides in various fields.
