President of Alexandria University Attends Ceremony Honoring Students Who Received Dr. Mounir Konsowa Award
Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, attended today, Tuesday, May 13, 2025, a ceremony honoring students who received the Late Prof. Mounir Konsowa Award, Professor of Hydraulics and former Head of the Department of Irrigation and Hydraulic Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering, Alexandria University. The ceremony was attended by Dr. Walid Abdel Azim, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering; Dr. Essam Wahba, Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Research; Dr. Wael El-Maghlani, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs; Dr. Hossam El-Maghazi, Acting Head of the Department of Irrigation and Hydraulic Engineering and former Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation; and the family of the late Prof. Mounir Konsowa, including Dr. Rawya Mounir Konsowa, Dr. Mohamed Mounir Konsowa, and Ms. Mona Mounir Konsowa, as well as a number of faculty members and students.

In his speech, Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa emphasized that today's celebration aims to instill the values of loyalty to all Alexandria University affiliates. He noted that the late Dr. Mounir Konsowa was one of the faculty's first generation and left behind a significant academic legacy at Alexandria University, whose influence continues to this day. Dr. Konsowa added that a university professor may depart, but his impact will remain through the values, morals, and knowledge he instilled in his students. He emphasized that Alexandria University is keen to commemorate all university professors who left a scholarly legacy that will benefit those who come after them. He addressed the students with the need to uphold good values and morals and to arm themselves with knowledge, leaving behind a legacy that will be remembered by those who come after them, as a person departs, but their impact remains.

Dr. Walid Abdel Azim emphasized that the celebration is in appreciation of Dr. Mounir Konsowa's efforts and contributions in his field of specialization. He noted that the university president's presence reflects the Alexandria University administration's commitment to commemorating scientists who have left a tangible scientific mark for future generations.

Dr. Hossam Moghazy indicated that today's celebration is a tribute to the important and vital role played by Dr. Mounir Konsowa and his lasting scientific contributions. He noted that the celebration is a message to students to reinforce the values of giving and loyalty. He added that the Department of Irrigation and Hydraulic Engineering holds this celebration annually for the department's outstanding students. He also thanked Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, for his keenness to be present at this celebration, emphasizing the Alexandria University administration's commitment to honoring its distinguished scientists and researchers who have enriched the academic and ethical lives of students.

Dr. Rawya Mounir Konsowa gave a brief biography of her late father, explaining that he was born in January 1916, excelled in his studies and ranked first in the Faculty of Engineering at Cairo University (formerly Fuad I University). He worked in the Ministry of Municipalities and participated in the design of the Khayreya Barrages, and established the Hydraulics Department laboratory at the Faculty of Engineering at Alexandria University. He had an artistic touch characterized by extreme precision in engineering drawings, Arabic calligraphy, and painting. She pointed out that the late Dr. Mounir Konsowa Award was established for top students in the Hydraulics subject in the Civil Engineering Department since 1983.


Alexandria University Wins 12 Various Awards During Its Participation in 13th Creativity Festival for Universities and Higher Institutes
Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, congratulated Alexandria University students for their outstanding results during their participation in the 13th Creativity Festival for Universities and Higher Institutes.
The festival was held under the auspices of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and concluded yesterday, Sunday, in the presence of Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, a number of university presidents and leaders from Egyptian universities, and a host of artists, intellectuals, and media professionals. The event was held in the Grand Celebration Hall at Cairo University.
Dr. Konsowa emphasized the importance of cultural and artistic activities in shaping the character of university students.
Dr. Ali Abdelmohsen, Acting Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, emphasized that creative spaces are no less important than classrooms, but rather represent an essential complement to the educational system. He emphasized that the Creativity Festival, in its thirteenth season, provides an opportunity for university students to showcase their talents and receive recognition and support through awards and honours at the closing ceremony.

* First place: Yasmine Mahmoud Mohamed, in the colloquial poetry category.
* Third place: Yasmine Khairy El-Sayed, in the colloquial poetry category.
* First place: Alexandria University musical band, in the ensemble performance category.
* Second place: Alexandria University choir, in the choir category.
* Second place: Karim Mahmoud Khalaf, in theatrical writing category.
* Best Musical Composition by Ahmed Nasr Hassan, in the instrumental category.
* Second place: Jana Ayman Mohamed, in the instrumental category.
* Second Place: Mennatallah Mohamed Ibrahim, in the singing category.
* Jury Award for Outstanding Performance: Alexandria University Team in the Folk Arts category.
* Third Actor Award: Student Mohamed Samir Saber in the Theatrical Performance category.

Closing ceremony of the 14th Student Theatre Arts Festival- Alexandria University
Under the auspices of Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, Dr. Ali Abdel Mohsen, Acting Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, witnessed the closing ceremony of the 14th annual Alexandria University Student Theatre Festival on Sunday evening, May 11, 2025, at the Anfoushi Cultural Palace Theatre. The ceremony was attended by deans and vice deans of faculties, faculty members, numerous writers, intellectuals, prominent figures in the arts and academia, and a large number of students and theatre enthusiasts.
The festival was organized by the University Student Union, represented by the "Supreme Technical Committee" and the General Administration of Youth Welfare.

In his speech, Dr. Ali Abdel Mohsen expressed his pride in the university’s outstanding students, both academically and creatively, in various activities. He paid tribute to the pioneers and sons of the theater among the students, praising their skillful performance, their well-known enthusiasm, and their active participation during the festival. He thanked the deans and vice deans of the faculties who were keen to attend the closing events to support their students and overcome all obstacles to the success of this prominent artistic event. He also expressed his happiness with the participation of Alexandria National University, praising its students and their first participation, which he described as “promising.” Dr. Abdel Mohsen briefly reviewed the history of Alexandria University in the field of theater, stressing that it is “the oldest and most prestigious Egyptian university that hosts an academic department specialized in the study of theater art.” He reiterated the university’s commitment to providing all possible forms of support to its talented students, with the aim of continuing their excellence and distinction in various fields. Dr. Manal Fouda, Head of the Theater Department and Chair of the Jury, expressed her pride in judging this exceptional edition, which witnessed remarkable diversity and a qualitative addition to Alexandria University's talents. She praised the theatrical performances of the university's graduates, who enriched the festival with mature and innovative directorial visions for their faculties' performances. She also noted with appreciation the "new birth" of a promising theater team representing National University, participating for the first time in this prestigious artistic event, emphasizing that this participation represents a rich addition to the theatrical movement within the university.

Student Hazem Badr, President of the University Student Union, emphasized that student activities represent a fundamental right of all university students, noting that this edition of the festival witnessed the largest number of participating teams in its history. He expressed his hope for a significant increase in the number of students and teams participating in future editions.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, the festival results were announced and awards were distributed as follows:
* First place: Faculty of Agriculture for the play "Shortness of Breath," directed by Ahmed Alaa Ali (Faculty of Agriculture graduate).
* Second place: Faculty of Education for the play "Yellow Air," directed by Mohamed Bahgat.
* Third place: Faculty of Medicine for the play "Nagaa Asfit," directed by Ahmed Amin.
Acting performance awards were also announced:
* Best Actor in a Leading Role Award (shared): Khaled Ali (Faculty of Veterinary Medicine) and Ahmed Kamal Gedo (Faculty of Agriculture).
* Best Actress in a Leading Role Award: Malak Yasser (Faculty of Education).











Alexandria University Receives Delegation of National Council for Women
As part of a series of educational seminars and lectures organized by Alexandria University to raise student awareness of various societal issues, Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, received a delegation from the National Council for Women, headed by Major General Refaat Komsan, Advisor to the former Prime Minister and Deputy Chairman of the Executive Authority of the National Elections Authority, and his accompanying delegation, at the university headquarters.

In his speech, Dr. Konsowa welcomed the guests, emphasizing the university's keenness to host national figures capable of raising awareness among university students regarding various economic, social, and cultural issues. He emphasized the importance of developing youth awareness in building the new republic. Dr. Konsowa highlighted the role of Alexandria University in preparing youth capable of competing in local, regional, and international labour markets by providing distinguished educational services that achieve international competitiveness.

Major General Refaat Komsan praised the outstanding level of Alexandria University, emphasizing the importance of continuing to organize educational seminars for students, as youth represent a true investment in the nation's future and a source of protection against internal and external risks.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Hisham Saeed, Vice President of Alexandria University for Graduate Studies and Research, Dr. Manal Fouda, Head of the Theatre Department at the Faculty of Arts and Executive Director of the Anti-Violence Against Women Unit at the University, Dr. Mayada Abdelqader, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Law and member of the National Council for Women, Dr. Magda El Shazly, Rapporteur of the National Council for Women's Alexandria Branch, Dr. Rasha Mahdi and Ms. Soha Saeed, Members of the Senate, and Dr. Osama El Badrashini and Ms. Dina El Gendy, members of the Political Participation Committee of the National Council for Women.
The meeting was followed by a seminar organized by the National Council for Women in coordination with the Anti-Violence Against Women Unit at the University, entitled "Together We Protect It... Know Your Country and Preserve It" at the Student Activities Centre. During the seminar, speeches were delivered urging students to raise awareness of national issues to unite the people under one banner.

During the seminar, Major General Refaat Komsan reviewed the state's achievements and successes in internal and external control, and in confronting all forms of infiltration, especially those targeting youth. He praised the university's youth and expressed his confidence in their creative abilities to support the political leadership, as they are the nation's conscious ambassadors and the link between education and the labour market.
In his speech, Dr. Osama El-Badrashini emphasized the need to counter rumours that seek to undermine the strength of the people, especially the youth.
Major General Refaat Komsan was keen to engage in dialogue with the students and answer their questions after the seminar concluded.


President of Alexandria University Participates in the 12th Conference of the Egyptian Society of Paediatric Chest Diseases
Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, participated in the 12th Conference of the Egyptian Society of Paediatric Chest Diseases, held from May 6 to 9 at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina. Among the participants are also Dr. Ashraf Hatem, former Minister of Health and Chairman of the Health Committee in the House of Representatives, Dr. Abla El-Alfy, Deputy Minister of Health and Population, Dr. Hend Hanafi, former President of Alexandria University, member of the Senate, and Vice President of the Board of Trustees of Alexandria National University, and Dr. Ghada Nada, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health in Alexandria, in addition to a large number of professors specializing in paediatric chest diseases.

In his speech, Dr. Konsowa emphasized the commitment of Alexandria University Hospitals to providing an integrated healthcare system capable of delivering high-quality medical services to citizens. He noted that university hospitals are witnessing significant developments to enhance efficiency, invest in modern medical equipment, and support and develop the capabilities of their human resources. This is intended to enhance the level of medical and therapeutic services provided to citizens, and to support their essential educational and training role in preparing highly qualified and competitive doctors at both the local and international levels. At the end of his speech, he expressed his hope for the success of the conference and the emergence of implementable recommendations that will enhance the level of healthcare in Alexandria.
Dr. Nader Fasih, Professor of Paediatrics at Alexandria University and Conference Chair, indicated that the conference is being held under the auspices of the European Respiratory Society and the American Thoracic Society. It includes discussions of more than 350 scientific papers on topics related to chronic respiratory diseases, recurrent pneumonia, respiratory infections, inhaled foreign bodies in the respiratory system, and the relationship between endocrine glands and the respiratory system. This will be done through several sessions and workshops with the participation of doctors and researchers from Egypt, Libya, Kuwait, Iraq, and Palestine.
