"Milestones in Cancer from Genomics Research to Practice Action in Challenging Times " at the Medical Research Institute
Under the auspices of Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, and Dr. Ashraf El-Ghandour, Vice President of the University for Postgraduate Studies and Research, the Institute of Medical Research organized this afternoon its nineteenth scientific conference (and the seventh internationally) entitled “Milestones in Cancer from Genomics Research to Practice Action in Challenging Times” to discuss the problem of cancer and its impact on society, from genetic research to clinical application, in the presence of a large number of deans and vice-deans of faculties, Dr. Saria Hawam, Director of the Medical Complex at Mustafa Kamel Military Hospital, representatives of the Japanese International Cooperation Agency, the World Health Organization (WHO), researchers, specialists, faculty members, and Egyptian and foreign students.

Dr. Amal Ghanem, Dean of the Medical Research Institute, confirmed that the conference aims to cooperate with various research and scientific centres to follow up on the latest scientific developments at the international research level in the field of cancer. She added that this conference encourages young researchers to study cancer and its impact on society, to keep pace with the state’s strategy in early detection of the disease and how to reach the best ways to treat it and mitigate its effects. The conference participants will discuss modern strategies in diagnosing and treating possible tumours, through 12 scientific sessions including 45 research papers on the latest strategies in diagnosis and treatment and modern methods for predicting cancerous tumours, and their importance in early intervention to reduce the incidence of the disease. The discussions will also include genetic and pre-clinical studies using nanotechnologies and artificial intelligence. Dr. Ghanem expressed her wishes for the success of the conference through research, discussions, and exchange of experiences to reach recommendations for the benefit of patients' health and scientific research.

Dr. Amani Youssef, Vice-Dean of the Institute for Postgraduate Studies and Research, pointed out the importance of the conference that it links young researchers with experts to cooperate and pursue the process of scientific research in the field of cancer treatment.

Dr. Khaled Matarawi, the Institute’s Vice-Dean for Environmental Development and Community Service added that it is of great importance to expand the circle of discussions to achieve maximum benefit from the published research.
The conference includes an introductory session on the Japanese International Cooperation Authority, in which representatives of the Egyptian and Japanese sides of the authority lecture on opportunities for joint cooperation and the Egyptian-Japanese partnership in the field of scientific research. The conference also reviews, in cooperation with representatives of the World Health Organization (WHO), the latest recommendations in the field of economics and technology in the health care industry, and developments in the national clinical guidelines program.
The conference witnessed a presentation on the role of the Medical Research Institute in education, scientific research, community service and its vision for the future, followed by honouring the winners of scientific awards and the former deans and vice-deans of the Institute and the experts who helped in the development of scientific research throughout the Institute’s history.





Faculty of Tourism and Hotels Organizes Educational Seminar Celebrating the Golden Jubilee of Glorious October War
Under the auspices of Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels organized on Tuesday the 3rd of October, an educational and awareness seminar on the Glorious October War, as part of a series of activities and events organized by the university to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of the victories of the Glorious October War. Participants included Major General Hashem Abul-Fadl, Operations Commander of one of the Air Defense Brigades - Air Defense Force, Major General Staff Ahmed Khairy El-Shiwi, Commander of the Tank Company of the 21st Armored Division, and Major General Mohamed El-Sayed Ahmed Taha, Assistant Head of the Reconnaissance Branch at the Command of the Parachute Unit - Parachute Corps. The seminar took place in the presence of Dr. Abeer Attia, Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Dina Ezz El-Din, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, Colonel Ahmed El-Geziri, Head of the Recruitment and Mobilization Department and Director of the Military Communications Department at Alexandria University, and an elite group of leaders who lived through the October War, as well as faculty members and students of the faculty.
Major General Hashem Abul-Fadl, head of operations of one of the Air Defense Brigades - the Air Defense Force, confirmed in his speech that Egypt will live forever strong and solid, and he advised the youth to preserve their homeland and continue the march to advance our homeland, Egypt. He provided a detailed explanation of the preparations that the army made before the start of the war, and the strategic deception plan, that gave an element of surprise to the enemy to recover the beloved land of Egypt.
Major General Staff Ahmed Khairy El-Shiwi, Commander of the Tank Company of the 21st Armored Division, also confirmed that Egypt’s plans for the October War are currently being studied in war academies around the world, and during his speech he explained that the Arab countries’ solidarity with Egypt during the war helped in its success.
Major General Mohamed El-Sayed Ahmed Taha, Assistant Head of the Reconnaissance Branch at the Parachute Unit Command - Parachute Corps, clarified the reconnaissance plan in North and South Sinai to prepare for the war. He also explained the role of the commandos forces and paratroopers during the war.
In her speech, Dr. Abeer Attia, Dean of the Faculty, welcomed the attendees, the heroes of the October War, and thanked them for the sacrifices they made for the sake of our nation. She stressed that the aim of this seminar is to introduce students and new generations to the history of their fathers and grandfathers who participated in the war, and to remind them of the heroism of the great Egyptian people, the owner of civilization and history who presented an epic with the best soldiers on earth in order to restore dignity. She also emphasized that love of the homeland is inherited in the genes of the Egyptian youth, who are aware and enthusiastic about building and defending their homeland at any time.
Dr. Dina Ezz El-Din, vice dean for community service and environmental development, congratulated the students on the occasion of the anniversary of the October War and also on the start of the new academic year. She stressed that each of us is a fighter on our front and in our workplace, and added that the love of Egypt and the spirit of October exist within us forever.
At the end of the meeting, Dr. Abeer Attia honored the heroes of the armed forces in attendance.

Opening of the Sixth Scientific Conference of the Faculty of Economic Studies and Political Science
Under the auspices of Dr. Abdel Aziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, the work of the Sixth Scientific Conference organized by the Faculty of Economic Studies and Political Science began yesterday, in the presence of a group of deans of faculties, members of parliament, faculty members, representatives of many civil society organizations, and a large number of researchers and students. His work will last for two days.
In his speech, Dr. Ahmed Wahban, Dean of the Faculty of Economic Studies and Political Science, stressed the importance of the economic and political axes of the conference, which discuss the current global crises and the Arab world - effects and policies, and the political effects of the Corona crisis and the Russian-Ukrainian war, explaining that the two axes deal with the number of crises that have ravaged international politics and the economy recently. On top of which is the Corona pandemic, climate changes, and the Russian-Ukrainian war, stressing that scientific research in the fields of politics and economics thrives in times of crisis, as researchers and scientists strive to present theses and proposals related to how to deal with the crisis and mitigate its effects.
In the same context, the words of Dr. Osama Al-Adly, Dr. Sherine Naseer, the vice-presidents of the college and the conference's vice presidents, and Dr. Ahmed Sayed Hussein, the conference rapporteur, came.
In terms of the conference work, four sessions were held yesterday, in the economic axis and the political axis, during which ten research papers were presented, and the researchers participating in the conference were honored on its first day, and the conference work will continue today with two sessions that include eleven new research.


Dr. Mahmoud El Maghraby appointed as Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary

Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, congratulated Dr. Mahmoud El Maghraby, on the occasion of the issuance of the presidential decree to appoint him as Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary, wishing him success and continuous efforts to maintain the achievements of the faculty, stressing that all support and assistance will be provided to him for his success in performing his mission.
Faculty of Tourism and Hotels, Alexandria University, Organizes Employment Forum for its Students and Alumni, Including 16 Companies and Hotels
Under the auspices of Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, and the supervision of the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector, headed by Dr. Saeed Allam, Vice President of the University, the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels organized an employment forum for its senior students and alumni. The forum took place on Wednesday, March 6 at the faculty headquarters, with the participation of 16 tourism and hotels companies in various sectors, including 3 restaurants, 7 tourism companies, and 6 international hotels.
Dr. Abeer Attia, Dean of the Faculty, stated that the forum aims to provide job opportunities for faculty graduates, as the faculty is keen to build partnerships with major companies and entities working in the field of tourism. The forum also works to familiarize students with the type of skills and capabilities required in the labour market.
Dr. Dina Ezz El-Din, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, indicated that the forum provides job and training opportunities for fourth-year students, and also provides summer training opportunities for third-year students, especially the (Tourism, Hospitality and Heritage Management) program, in preparation for selecting a number of them for employment.
The forum activities were supervised by Dr. Samar El-Qasrawy, Acting Head of the Department of Tourism Studies and Executive Director of the Faculty’s Special Programs, faculty members, a large number of students and graduates, and representatives of major tourism companies and international hotel and restaurant chains.
