The second meeting of the Board of Trustees of Alexandria National University was held yesterday, Tuesday, May 20, 2025, in the presence of Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University and Acting President of Alexandria National University, Dr. Mohamed Nasr El-Din Demir, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Alexandria National University and former President of Alexandria University, and members of the Board of Trustees.

During the meeting, the Board reviewed the duties and responsibilities of the Board of Trustees, the formation of the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees, and the definition of its duties and responsibilities. The Board also reviewed the follow-up report on the activities of the National University.

  • The Board approved the inclusion of Dr. Roshdi Zahran, former President of Alexandria University and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of El Alamein International University, as a member of the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees of Alexandria National University.
  • The Board also approved the appointment of Dr. Yosry Taha, Dean of Registration and Admissions at Alexandria Private University, as Secretary of the Board.
  • The Board approved the general bylaws of Alexandria National University.
  • The Council approved the university's budgets for the previous fiscal years (2022/2023 and 2023/2024).
  • The Council discussed the proposed number of students to be enrolled in the various programs at Alexandria National University and the university's scholarship policy for the next academic year 2025/2026 .
  • Dr. Mohamed Nasr, Professor at the Faculty of Engineering, gave a presentation on the construction phases of Alexandria National University, including classrooms, lecture halls, specialized laboratories, auditoriums, administrative offices, and an electronic research library. He explained that the second phase of the facilities is scheduled to be completed in August 2025, bringing the university's campus and facilities' capacity to 12,000 students.
  • Dr. Sameh Nakhla, Director of the Academic Governance Centre at Alexandria National University, gave a presentation on the centre’s objectives in human resources capacity building, and managing institutional performance through the committees of teaching and learning, measurement and evaluation, and academic performance development.
  • The Council offered its condolences to the family of Engineer Abed Ezz El Regal, Chairman and Managing Director of Abu Qir Fertilizers and Chemical Industries Company, former Chairman of the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation, and member of the Board of Trustees of Alexandria National University, who passed away after a distinguished career in Egypt's industrial and energy sectors, praying to God Almighty to bestow His mercy upon him and to grant him a place in His spacious heavens. Mr. Ezz El Regal played a tangible role in facilitating communication between the university and the industrial sector to serve and develop the industry and contributed to numerous successes and achievements.
  • Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, emphasized the role of national universities, which emerged from public universities, in meeting labour market needs, expanding new programs, providing greater opportunities for interdisciplinary programs, and keeping pace with the development of education programs at the international level, based on international partnerships in cooperation with prestigious international universities

Dr. Konsowa explained that Alexandria National University, despite its recent establishment, has three international agreements with Virginia Tech in the US, the University of Essex in the UK, and soon with the University of East London in the UK. He also emphasized that an integrated system exists to serve students at Alexandria University and Alexandria National University, allowing them to benefit from the educational and non-educational facilities and services currently being established at the two universities, in addition to international branches in Egypt and abroad. Some of these facilities will be inaugurated at the beginning of the 2025-2026 academic year, including the specialized laboratories of the Faculty of Dentistry and the specialized electronic laboratories complex building. Other facilities will be inaugurated the following academic year, such as the large conference hall and its annexes, the central playground area and its services, the entertainment area, and the open-air theatre

For his part, Dr. Mohamed Nasr El-Din Demir expressed his thanks and appreciation to the administration of Alexandria University and Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, for the completion of this great edifice, which emerged from the prestigious Alexandria University, and for the unlimited support and achievements made during the past period at Alexandria National University. He emphasized the importance of cooperation and integration between public and national universities and the provision of modern academic programs that keep pace with the needs of future jobs
