Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, inaugurated the Cultural Communities Day for International Students on Sunday evening, April 27, 2025, at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina. The event was attended by Dr. Saeed Allam, Vice President for Community Service and Development; Dr. Hisham Saeed, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research; Dr. Ali Abdelmohsen, Acting Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, Dr. Hala Maklad, Executive Director of the International Students Department at Alexandria University, in addition to ambassadors, consuls, and cultural attachés from various countries, deans and vice deans of faculties and institutes at Alexandria University, as well as faculty members and students.

In his speech, Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa expressed his pleasure to be among his students from around the world, noting the uniqueness of this meeting, which brings together students of various nationalities studying at Alexandria University. Dr. Konsowa stated that Alexandria University is working according to a strategic plan to prepare students to be globally competitive, and is continuing to create advanced educational programs that keep pace with the rapid development of labour market needs. He also reviewed the new international degrees that Alexandria University recently signed with international universities, noting that the university has more than 80 double degrees with major international universities for the benefit of Alexandria University students of all nationalities. Regarding international expansion, Dr. Konsowa confirmed that studies will begin this year at Alexandria University's branches in Abu Dhabi and Malaysia. He also announced that Alexandria University is in the process of establishing new branches in Saudi Arabia, Iraq, and Greece. He noted that this all comes within the framework of Alexandria University's commitment to increasing the global competitiveness of its graduates. In concluding his speech, Dr. Konsowa thanked the students for their solidarity and cooperation in making this celebration a success, wishing them continued success.
Dr. Hisham Saeed emphasized that the Community Day, organized by Alexandria University, reflects the civilized and humane face of the prestigious Alexandria University and emphasizes the noble values in which Alexandria University believes: diversity, coexistence, and shared belonging, and it also affirms that knowledge knows no borders and that universities are bridges that connect diverse peoples, cultures, and languages within a framework of mutual respect and profound understanding. He added that Egypt is a land of knowledge, tolerance, and hospitality, and embraces thousands of students of various nationalities who come to it bearing their dreams, cultures, and hopes for a better future. He noted that Alexandria University is proud of these students and exerts all its efforts to provide an educational and humane environment that meets their aspirations, respects their privacy, and supports them in their academic and life journeys. He praised the role played by student communities in providing moral support to their students and in building bridges of cooperation with Alexandria University.
In his speech, Dr. Ali Abdelmohsen thanked Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, for his directives to provide all forms of support to international students at Alexandria University, and his keenness to be present at all events related to international students. He emphasized that caring for international students is one of Alexandria University's strategic objectives, explaining that the number of international students at Alexandria University has reached 16,500 male and female students. He noted that the university offers international students a range of distinguished academic programs in various scientific fields and specializations, in addition to several joint and dual programs with several highly ranked international universities, enabling students to obtain degrees from Alexandria University and other international partner universities. He noted that Alexandria University is committed to the participation of international students in student activities at the university, in cooperation with their Egyptian colleagues. Alexandria University also values the student activities offered by international students, which reflect their culture and heritage. He added that Alexandria University is organizing this day to listen to them and see their creativity and art, which expresses the cultures of their countries.
Dr. Hala Maklad welcomed all international students, both undergraduate and graduate, to the second International Communities Day, a day when cultures and civilizations blend, and Alexandria University is adorned with the colours of flags from around the world. She emphasized that this day is an ideal opportunity to learn about new civilizations and cultures, emphasizing that it is a day of loyalty to one's homeland, as each community is keen to highlight their cultures and introduce them to the world. It is also a day of loyalty to Alexandria University, which includes 71 different nationalities among its international students.
Student Huthaifa Alawi Al-Eissawi, head of the International Students Committee at Alexandria University, thanked the Alexandria University administration for organizing this celebration, which confirms Alexandria University's commitment to its international students. He emphasized that Alexandria University is a prestigious university that welcomes diverse cultures across the ages, which underscores the university's cultural diversity and richness. He emphasized that International Cultures Day is an opportunity to exchange cultures and present distinguished performances from various nationalities, creating an enjoyable journey that takes us around the world in one day.
