Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, received Dr. Cyril Clark, Executive Vice President and Academic Director of Virginia Tech University, and his accompanying delegation, to discuss means of cooperation and the implementation of joint academic and research projects, especially in the fields related to modern technology and innovation, and the establishment of an international branch of Virginia Tech University on the university grounds in Borg El Arab.
 
 
 
 
 
In his speech, Dr. Konsowa welcomed the Virginia Tech University delegation to Alexandria University, referring to the university's plan and orientations towards internationalization and international expansion and the establishment of partnerships with highly-ranked distinguished international universities to raise the competitiveness and efficiency of Alexandria University graduates, appreciating the excellence of Virginia Tech University and the joint cooperation between the two sides over the past years in engineering and technical sciences programs. Dr. Konsowa stressed that Alexandria University is witnessing a wide diversity in the establishment of joint programs and degrees and international branches outside Egypt, as well as the establishment of branches of international universities onthe university grounds in Borg El Arab, within the framework of the university's plan to internationalize education and make it an attractive platform for educational services in Africa, the Arab region and Asia, and provide educational opportunities for students in modern scientific specializations and advanced technologies. He also pointed out that the Technology Park facilities are nearing completion to be the nucleus for enhancing the concept of knowledge-based industry and linking the outputs of scientific research to industry and transforming them into products of economic value and establishing companies based on the outputs of ideas and scientific research owned by Alexandria University, achieving competitiveness in economic development, in addition to its role in supporting innovation and entrepreneurship at the university, in line with the state's strategy to achieve sustainable development goals and Egypt's future vision.
 
 
 
 
 
For his part, Dr. Cyril Clark expressed pleasure to cooperate with Alexandria University as one of the well-established Egyptian universities, appreciating its efforts in implementing projects related to industry and finding solutions to societal issues by employing scientific research for this purpose, establishing international partnerships and expanding it's international branches, which makes it an attractive platform for higher education at the international level. He also stressed his university's keenness to build bridges of joint cooperation in the fields of scientific research, knowledge transfer and exchange of expertise, especially in topics related to climate issues and reducing carbon emissions, and he stressed the possibility of implementing mutual visits to enhance joint cooperation further.
 
 
 
 
 
The Alexandria University delegation gave presentations and an introduction to Alexandria University, its various institutes and educational programs, its strategic plan towards internationalization, the university's ranking in various international classifications, dual degrees and cooperation protocols signed by Alexandria University with various international universities, centres of excellence, and features of establishing the Technology Park at Alexandria University, which is scheduled to open soon with the aim of localizing and transferring technology.
 
 
 
 
 
The meeting was attended by Dr. Roshdi Zahran, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of El Alamein International University and former President of Alexandria University, Dr. Saeed Allam, Vice President of Alexandria University for Community Service Affairs, Dr. Hisham Saeed, Vice President of the University for Graduate Studies and Research, Dr. Ali Abdelmohsen, Acting Vice President of the University for Education and Students Affairs, Dr. Sameh Shehata, Supervisor of the International Relations Office at Alexandria University, Dr. Gihan Gewaifel, Assistant President of the University for Internationalization and International Branch Campuses, Dr. Boshra Salem, Assistant President of the University for University Classification, Dr. Walid Abdelazim, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Dr. Essam Wahba, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Engineering for Graduate Studies and Research, and Dr. Ziad El-Sayyad, Professor at the Faculty of Engineering. From the American side, the meeting was attended by Dr. Guru Ghosh, Vice President of the University for International Affairs, Dr. Juan Espinoza, Student Registration Officer at the University, Dr. Khaled Hassouna, Associate President for Middle East and North Africa Projects, and Dr. Mohamed Siam, Associate Professor at the Department of Computer Science.
