Dr. Ali Abdelmohsen, Acting Vice President of Alexandria University for Education and Student Affairs, on behalf of Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of the University, received Dr. Abed Diab Al-Ujaili, former Minister of Higher Education in Iraq, and his accompanying delegation with the aim of discussing ways to enhance academic and cultural cooperation between the two sides on topics of common interest, and to explore the possibility of concluding joint agreements and opening a branch of Alexandria University in Iraq.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Sameh Shehata, Supervisor of the International Relations Office at Alexandria University, Dr. Boshra Salem, Assistant President of the University for International Ranking, and Dr. Hala Maklad, Director of the University's International Students Department.
In his speech, Dr. Ali Abdelmohsen welcomed the guests, stressing the university's keenness to strengthen cooperation ties with academic institutions in the sisterly state of Iraq in various scientific and cultural fields, and to provide distinguished educational and research care and services to Iraqi students studying at Alexandria University, referring to Alexandria University's strategy aimed at internationalizing education through dual and joint degrees with highly ranked international universities, and establishing branches of international universities in cooperation with Alexandria University in Borg El Arab, in addition to the regional and international role of Alexandria University through its branches in Chad and South Sudan to support scientific, cultural and humanitarian ties with African countries.
Dr. Ali Abdelmohsen added that the continuous progress in the university's ranking according to international classifications is due to the interest in scientific research, international cooperation, innovation and achieving sustainable development goals.
For his part, Dr. Abed Diab Al-Ujaili praised the distinguished scientific status of Alexandria University and Egypt's historical role in the Arab world, pointing out Iraq's desire to cooperate with Egyptian academic institutions in general and Alexandria University in particular in the fields of joint scientific research, exchange of faculty members, students, scientific journals and research projects in various academic fields and specializations to benefit from their extensive experience in the field of education and scientific research and support the education development plan undertaken by Iraq, stressing the desire to open branches of Egyptian universities in general and Alexandria University in particular in Iraq to contribute to the renaissance of Iraq and its return to practicing its role as a centre of civilization in the Arab world.
