On behalf of Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, Dr. Saeed Allam, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, received Mr. Kim Yonghyon, Ambassador of the Republic of South Korea in Cairo, and his accompanying delegation, with the aim of developing ways of academic and cultural cooperation between the two sides on topics of common interest, and discussing the possibility of establishing the Sejong Institute for teaching South Korean language and culture in coordination with Alexandria University.

The meeting that took place at the university’s headquarters, was attended by Dr. Ali Abdelmohsen, Acting Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs, Dr. Hesham Saeed, Acting Vice President of the University for Graduate Studies and Research, Dr. Ahmed Abdelhakim, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, Dr. Sameh Shehata, Supervisor of the University’s Office of International Relations, Dr. Boshra Salem, Officer in Charge for the University’s International Relations Office, Dr. Gihan Gewaifel, Assistant to the University President for International Universities Branch Affairs, and Dr. Naglaa Abou-Agag, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Arts for Postgraduate Studies and Research.

During the meeting, Dr. Saeed Allam welcomed the Korean ambassador and the accompanying delegation, stressing Alexandria University’s keenness to cooperate with universities in South Korea in various scientific and cultural fields, pointing to Alexandria University’s international relations with highly ranked international universities. He also stressed the university’s keenness to activate the memorandum of understanding signed between the two sides. He expressed his aspiration to increase this cooperation in the areas of exchange of faculty members and students and joint scientific research.

Mr. Kim Yonghyon expressed his pleasure for being at the prestigious Alexandria University, pointing to the distinguished relations between the Republic of South Korea and Egypt in various fields, and the Korean side’s appreciation for the great cultural heritage in Egypt, stressing the keenness of the Korean academic and cultural bodies for joint cooperation with Alexandria University in the areas of educational programs and joint research projects, and the establishment of the Sejong Institute for Teaching South Korean Language and Culture in cooperation and coordination with Alexandria University.
