In response to the invitation of Dr. Ammar Al-Houry, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Endowment for Righteousness and Charity, and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Beirut Arab University, Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, visited the sister country of Lebanon, to participate in the ceremony celebrating Dr. Wael Nabil Abdelsalam assuming the duties of his new position as President of Beirut Arab University, as of the beginning of September, and celebrating the graduation of the university’s sixtieth batch, in the Debbieh area. The ceremony took place in the presence of several political, diplomatic and academic leaders in Lebanon and the Arab countries, Dr. Ahmed Zayed, Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, Dr. Saeed Allam, Acting Vice President of Alexandria University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, as well as the new deans of the faculties of Beirut Arab University.

Dr. Konsowa indicated that the visit also included a field tour of the university’s faculties and facilities in the Beirut and Debbieh regions, and discussions on the ways to activate academic cooperation between the two universities, in light of the cooperation agreement that the two sides signed last March in Cairo in the presence of Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research. Dr. Konsowa stressed that Alexandria University is ready to provide all aspects of support to Beirut Arab University to serve the Arab nation with a new and distinct vision, which comes as a reflection of the Egyptian state’s keenness to support scientific and academic cooperation with the sister country of Lebanon, considering that Beirut Arab University is the crown jewel in these relations, and a reflection of the unique historical and academic ties that combine the two universities, which have deepened since the establishment of Beirut Arab University in 1960, as one of the institutions of the Endowment for Righteousness and Charity, with the support of Alexandria University.
