The Alexandria University Council, chaired by Acting President Prof. Ahmed Adel Abdel Hakim, discussed a number of academic, administrative, and research matters.

The Council congratulated members on the signing of the final agreement to establish Alexandria University's branch in Malaysia, confirming that the final operating license is expected to be received in November, marking another milestone in the university's internationalization strategy.

The Council also reviewed the university's plan to join the Smart Universities system, along with its vision for establishing a Smart University City in Borg El Arab, which will include international universities, a new student residence, and a university hospital. In addition, members reviewed plans to complete the development of the Abis campus into smart colleges and approved upgrading the Saba Pasha student residence to provide three-star accommodation for international students.

During the meeting, Prof. Hisham Saeed, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, presented the role of the Research Integrity Office in promoting research ethics and improving the quality of international scientific publications. The Council also reviewed the "Alexandria Heritage Trails – Every Step Tells a Story" initiative, proposed by the Faculty of Tourism and Hotels to promote the city's cultural heritage and support local tourism.

The Council approved a number of postgraduate scholarships, endorsed new faculty development programs, reviewed international student exchange activities, renewed several international cooperation agreements, accepted a medical equipment donation for the university hospitals, and approved academic promotions, appointments, and postgraduate degrees.

The meeting concluded with honoring Prof. Hisham Saeed, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, and Prof. Mohamed El Feky, former Dean of the Faculty of Law, in recognition of their valuable contributions to the university.
