The Graduate Studies and Research Council of Alexandria University held its meeting on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, chaired by Professor Hisham Saeed, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, to discuss a number of issues related to the development of graduate studies and scientific research, enhancing the quality of scientific publishing, and updating academic regulations and programs in line with national and international standards.

The Council reviewed the monthly report on scientific publications in international journals, emphasizing the importance of adhering to research ethics, promoting the quality of international scientific publishing, and reinforcing the principles of academic integrity to preserve Alexandria University's distinguished academic and research reputation.

The Council also approved the allocation of 50 scholarships for newly enrolled graduate students at the Faculty of Agriculture who are registered in the Professional Master's Program and the Professional Diploma Program in Plant Clinic and Plant Health Technologies. The scholarships provide a 50% reduction in credit-hour tuition fees for the Fall 2026 semester, with the aim of supporting students and encouraging enrollment in distinguished professional programs.

In addition, the Council approved a number of academic amendments to the Professional Master's and Professional Doctorate programs, including updates to several course curricula and revisions to the research paper requirements for the Professional Master's programs in Business Administration and Accounting at the Faculty of Business, in line with academic developments and labor market needs.

 

As part of its efforts to develop academic regulations and programs, the Council approved the Faculty of Medicine's proposal to rename the Master's and Doctoral degrees in the Department of Tropical Medicine to "Endemic and Infectious Diseases," aligning the degree title with that of the Permanent Scientific Committee for the Promotion of Professors and Associate Professors in the same specialty.

The Council further approved the newly developed internal regulations for graduate studies under the credit-hour system at the Faculty of Specific Education, following the completion of all required revisions and observations by the relevant sector committee.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Professor Hisham Saeed expressed his sincere appreciation to the members of the Graduate Studies and Research Council for their dedication and constructive cooperation in advancing the University's graduate studies and research system. He emphasized that the achievements accomplished during the past period were the result of teamwork and continuous coordination across the University's various sectors.

The Council members, in turn, honored Professor Hisham Saeed in recognition of his distinguished efforts and outstanding contributions during his tenure as Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research. They praised his pivotal role in advancing graduate studies and scientific research, supporting innovation and research excellence, and strengthening Alexandria University's position in academic and research communities at the local, regional, and international levels.

The meeting concluded with the Council reaffirming Alexandria University's commitment to continuously developing graduate studies and scientific research, modernizing academic regulations and programs, and enhancing the quality of research and scientific publishing to further strengthen the University's competitiveness and academic leadership.
