
Prof. Ahmed Adel Abdel Hakim, Acting President of Alexandria University, inaugurated on Thursday, 9 July 2026, the comprehensive renovation of the Faculty Members Club and its attached Documentation Office, as part of the University's ongoing efforts to enhance the services provided to faculty members and their families, while strengthening the Club's role as a social and cultural hub that reflects Alexandria University's distinguished standing and serves its academic community.
The inauguration was attended by Prof. Mohamed El-Gohary, President of Borg El Arab Technological University; Prof. Affaf Al-Oufy, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development; in addition to a distinguished group of current and former university leaders, former Presidents of Alexandria University, members of the Board of Trustees of Alexandria National University, deans and vice deans of the University's faculties and institutes, and faculty members.
In his remarks, Prof. Ahmed Adel Abdel Hakim emphasized that Alexandria University places great importance on providing an integrated and supportive environment for its faculty members, recognizing their pivotal role in advancing education and scientific research. He reaffirmed the University's continued commitment to supporting the Club to further improve its services and maximize the utilization of its facilities for the benefit of faculty members and their families.
He also expressed his appreciation to Prof. Abdel Aziz Konsowa, former President of Alexandria University, for laying the foundation and supporting the Club's renovation project during his tenure. He further commended the efforts of Prof. Magda El-Shazly and the Club's Board of Directors, whose dedication resulted in the successful completion of the renovation and the Club's distinguished new appearance.
For her part, Prof. Magda El-Shazly, Chair of the Faculty Members Club, stated that the Club serves as a hub for academic, social, and cultural interaction among faculty members and as a bridge connecting different generations of academics. She noted that the renovation included the mosque, meeting hall, restaurant, recreational lounge, elevator upgrades, and the expansion and modernization of the Real Estate Registration and Documentation Office, contributing to a higher standard of services for the Club's members.
The inauguration program included the screening of a documentary highlighting the history of the Faculty Members Club and the major stages of its renovation. The event concluded with honoring the university leaders who contributed to the successful implementation of the renovation project in recognition of their efforts in supporting this important social and service facility.
