Dr. Ahmed Adel Abdel Hakim, Acting President of Alexandria University, announced that the university has achieved a new milestone in the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings 2026, after being placed within the 201–300 global band. The university also attained advanced positions across several of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), reflecting its excellence in education, scientific research, community service, and sustainability.

Dr. Abdel Hakim stated that Alexandria University achieved remarkable global recognition by ranking 8th worldwide in Affordable and Clean Energy (SDG 7), 16th worldwide in Clean Water and Sanitation (SDG 6), and 93rd worldwide in Climate Action (SDG 13). These achievements underscore the university’s success in leveraging its academic and research capabilities to address key sustainability and development challenges at both the national and international levels.

The Acting President emphasized that these results are the outcome of the continuous efforts of the university’s faculties, institutes, and research centers to advance education and scientific research, foster innovation, strengthen community engagement, and expand international partnerships. He also highlighted the university’s commitment to implementing initiatives and projects that contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and enhancing quality of life.

He further noted that Alexandria University is dedicated to integrating sustainability principles across its academic, research, and service activities in alignment with Egypt Vision 2030, reinforcing its role as a leading educational and research institution that contributes to addressing developmental and environmental challenges through knowledge and innovation.

The Times Higher Education Impact Rankings are among the most prominent international rankings that assess universities’ contributions to the achievement of the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The ranking methodology evaluates universities based on their performance in research, teaching, community engagement, governance, and responsible resource management.

The 2026 edition assessed 1,646 universities from 116 countries and territories worldwide, reflecting the intensity of global competition and highlighting the significance of Alexandria University’s achievements. The results further confirm the university’s continued progress in international rankings and its growing reputation among leading universities regionally and globally.
