The Higher Council for Students with Disabilities at Alexandria University convened under the chairmanship of Prof. Ahmed Adel Abdel Hakim, Acting President of Alexandria University, to discuss ways of enhancing the educational and support services provided to students with disabilities. The meeting reflects the University's ongoing commitment to promoting inclusion and ensuring equal opportunities for all students.

Prof. Ahmed Adel Abdel Hakim reaffirmed Alexandria University's commitment to providing comprehensive support and care for students with disabilities as part of its strategy to foster an inclusive learning environment that accommodates their diverse needs and enables their active participation in academic, student, cultural, and sports activities, thereby supporting their personal development and full integration into university life.

The Council reviewed the University's ongoing efforts to provide the necessary academic accommodations and support services, while also encouraging students' participation in extracurricular activities, reflecting the University's social responsibility and commitment to empowering its students with disabilities.

The Council also discussed a proposal for the formation of the Board of Directors of the Taha Hussein Center for Students with Disabilities, including its organizational and administrative structure, with the aim of clearly defining roles and responsibilities, enhancing the efficiency of services provided, and strengthening monitoring and governance mechanisms in accordance with university regulations.

In addition, the Council examined proposals to establish applied educational pathways tailored to the needs of students with intellectual and hearing disabilities, thereby expanding their opportunities for academic and vocational education and training. Discussions also covered examination procedures to ensure the provision of appropriate accommodations while maintaining fairness and equal opportunities for all students.

The meeting concluded with an affirmation of the University's commitment to implementing fair admission standards and selection mechanisms across all academic departments and faculties, further promoting equal opportunities and reinforcing the University's efforts to empower and integrate students with disabilities within the university community.
