
In line with Alexandria University’s academic and research role in supporting national efforts to preserve cultural heritage, Dr. Ahmed Adel Abdel Hakim, Acting President of Alexandria University, participated in the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding for the project of documenting and managing the heritage of Rosetta (Rashid) City in Beheira Governorate, held during the visit of Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly to the governorate today.
The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Beheira Governorate, Bibliotheca Alexandrina, and Arab Contractors Company, in the presence of Dr. Manal Awad, Minister of Local Development and Environment.
The project aims to unify efforts among academic, cultural, and executive institutions to document the architectural, cultural, and archaeological heritage of Rosetta City, and to establish an integrated scientific framework for its management and preservation, thereby enhancing the safeguarding of the city’s historical identity and supporting sustainable development efforts.
Alexandria University, in cooperation with Bibliotheca Alexandrina, will prepare the necessary studies, scientific visions, and planning schemes for the development of heritage areas and historical buildings in Rosetta City, and will develop documentation methodologies in accordance with the latest scientific standards, contributing to the preservation and revitalization of this cultural legacy.
Arab Contractors Company will provide specialized technical support in documenting and registering heritage buildings and assessing their current condition, supporting preservation and development plans in line with the regulations approved by the relevant authorities. Beheira Governorate will also allocate a suitable premises to host the project activities within Rosetta City.
The participating parties emphasized that the MoU represents a model of integration among state institutions, reflecting a balance between preserving the historical character of Rosetta City and meeting the requirements of modern urban and cultural development.
