Dr. Ahmed Adel Abdel Hakim, Acting President of Alexandria University, attended on Thursday evening, May 21, 2026, a ceremony honoring the university’s student athletes who achieved first-place positions in the 53rd edition of the Egyptian Universities Championship “El Shahid El Refaei.” The event was held in recognition of their achievements and athletic excellence, in the presence of faculty deans and officials responsible for student and sports activities at the university.

During his speech, Dr. Ahmed Adel Abdel Hakim expressed his happiness and pride in being among the university’s students, praising the achievements made by both the students and the Youth Welfare Sector over the past fourteen years. He noted that these accomplishments reflect the success of an integrated institutional system and an administrative vision based on continuity and development.

He emphasized that a culture of success has become a defining characteristic among Alexandria University students, as demonstrated by the university’s distinguished accomplishments and achievements across various fields year after year. He highlighted the university’s achievements in this year’s “El Shahid El Refaei” Championship, where it secured 14 first-place positions and 6 second-place positions in various competitions.

He reaffirmed the university’s commitment to supporting sports activities and encouraging students to engage in positive competition, while promoting values of discipline and sportsmanship and confronting any practices that conflict with the spirit of fair play.

He further stressed the university’s belief in the importance of fostering fair competition among students as one of the key pillars of excellence and success. He also revealed the university’s plans to establish a number of affiliated companies, including a specialized sports company aimed at supporting talented and high-achieving athletes. These companies are expected to begin operations and serve as a major supporter of student activities by 2027.

He concluded his remarks by affirming Alexandria University’s continued commitment to providing full support to its students in all areas, driven by its belief in the role of youth as the cornerstone of building the future and achieving further success.

For his part, Ehab El-Kiki, Director of the Sports Activity Department at Alexandria University, stated that the university’s sporting achievements reflect the significant support and attention given by the administration to students and sports activities. He noted that these accomplishments are the result of continuous effort, determination, and the students’ competitive spirit.

Meanwhile, Taher El-Zeiny, former Director of the Sports Activity Department, expressed his appreciation for the university’s ongoing support for its students, emphasizing that Alexandria University has always been a key partner in creating sporting success and nurturing student talents.
