In a step that reflects Alexandria University’s ongoing efforts to advance postgraduate programs and keep pace with the latest scientific and academic developments, Dr. Ahmed Adel Abdel Hakim, Acting President of Alexandria University, participated this morning in the discussion of the first two PhD dissertations within the revised Prosthodontics program at the Faculty of Dentistry.

The event was attended by Dr. Mohamed Ayoub, Chairman of the Dentistry Sector Committee; Dr. Hossam El-Mallahi, Secretary of the Dentistry Sector and President of Nahda and Badya Universities; Dr. Reham El-Dibany, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry at Alexandria University; in addition to vice deans, department heads, the Prosthodontics Program Director, and a distinguished group of faculty members, experts, and specialists in the field of dentistry.

The first dissertation, submitted by dentist Sherine Anwar Saad, was entitled: “Reliability of Virtual Replication of Mandibular Movement for Assessing Occlusal Interventions and Adjustments in CAD/CAM-Designed and Milled Zirconia Crowns: A Diagnostic Accuracy Study.”

The research focused on utilizing modern digital technologies to enhance diagnostic efficiency and improve treatment outcomes.

The second dissertation, submitted by dentist Mohamed Fathy Saeed El-Ashry, was entitled: “Effectiveness of Different Gingival Displacement Methods Before Final Digital Impression: A Randomized Controlled Clinical Study.” The study focused on evaluating modern approaches aimed at improving procedural quality and clinical accuracy.

The discussions reflected appreciation for the scientific and research quality of both dissertations and the contemporary research topics they addressed, which contribute to the advancement of clinical practices and digital dentistry applications.

Researcher Sherine Anwar Saad was exempted from the traditional oral defense after publishing two papers derived from her dissertation in internationally recognized journals ranked among the top 50% of ISI-indexed research journals, in accordance with the applicable regulations.

Following the discussions, both dissertations were approved for circulation among Faculties of Dentistry across Egypt, and the PhD degree was awarded to both researchers.

Dr. Ahmed Adel Abdel Hakim expressed that discussing the first PhD dissertations under the revised Prosthodontics program represents an important milestone in the development of postgraduate studies at the Faculty of Dentistry. He emphasized that updating academic programs in line with global scientific advancements is part of the university’s strategy to strengthen educational quality, enhance scientific research, and prepare graduates capable of competing at both national and international levels.
