As part of Alexandria University’s commitment to promoting cultural diversity and supporting international student activities in a way that fosters belonging and coexistence, Dr. Ahmed Abdel Hakim, Acting President of Alexandria University, attended yesterday the activities of the “Cultural Communities Day for International Students,” held at the University Stadium, with wide participation from students of various nationalities.

The event was attended by Dr. Hisham Saeed, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research; Dr. Afaf El-Ofi, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development; Ambassador Saqr Al-Ghanem, Ambassador of the State of Kuwait in Cairo; Dr. Khaled Al-Muhareb, Head of the Cultural Office at the Embassy of Kuwait in Cairo; Counselor Mohamed Shokora, Consul General of Palestine in Alexandria; Ambassador Deniz Cankaya, Consul General of Türkiye; Ambassador Xu Min, Consul General of China; Consul Ghanem Ahmed Yahya, Consul General of Sudan; Dr. Khulood Rashid Mattar, Head of the Cultural Office of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Bahrain; Mr. Mubarak Al-Subaie, Head of Saudi Affairs at the Saudi Consulate, in addition to ambassadors, consuls, and cultural attachés from various Arab, African, and Asian countries, as well as deans, vice deans, faculty members, and students.

During the event, Dr. Ahmed Abdel Hakim emphasized that Alexandria University places great importance on international students, considering them ambassadors of their countries and bridges for cultural communication among peoples. He noted that organizing the “Cultural Communities Day” aligns with the university’s strategy to create an international, multicultural educational environment that contributes to preparing graduates capable of competing globally.

He added that the university continues to develop its academic programs and expand its international partnerships to provide distinguished educational opportunities for both Egyptian and international students, alongside supporting student activities that reflect the diversity of civilizations and promote the values of tolerance and coexistence. He also stressed Alexandria University’s civilizational role as a genuine platform for bringing peoples together and embracing students from various nationalities. Dr. Abdel Hakim further encouraged students to make the most of their university years academically and culturally, and to build lasting friendships and human connections that strengthen communication among nations.

For her part, Dr. Hala Mokalled, Executive Director of the International Students Care Department, explained that the university is keen on integrating international students into various student activities and encouraging them to showcase their heritage through artistic performances and cultural exhibitions, contributing to enriching campus life and enhancing cultural exchange among students.

Meanwhile, student Hudhaifa Alawi Al-Issawi, Head of the International Students Committee at Alexandria University, expressed his appreciation for the university administration’s efforts in organizing this celebration, which reflects the university’s care and support for international students. He affirmed that Alexandria University provides a distinguished educational, cultural, and social experience that supports diversity and cultural richness, noting that the “Cultural Communities Day” represents an opportunity for exchanging experiences and learning about different cultures in a joyful festive atmosphere.

The celebration included artistic and cultural performances presented by different communities, in addition to booths featuring traditional food and heritage clothing, allowing attendees to explore diverse cultures in an atmosphere reflecting the spirit of diversity and rapprochement among peoples.
