Under the auspices of Prof. Ahmed Adel Abdel Hakim, Acting President of Alexandria University, the Popular and Military Defense Forces organized a blood donation campaign at the Faculty of Business, with wide participation from students across various faculties. This comes as part of the university’s societal role and its continuous support for the healthcare sector.

The campaign aimed to help meet patients’ needs for blood units and to promote a culture of voluntary blood donation among students, as one of the most important forms of humanitarian work.

The campaign witnessed a remarkable turnout, with 320 male and female students donating blood. Their active participation reflects a strong awareness of the importance of blood donation in saving lives, demonstrating students’ sense of responsibility and embodying the spirit of solidarity and community engagement on campus.

Prof. Ahmed Adel Abdel Hakim emphasized that Alexandria University places great importance on raising students’ societal awareness, noting that such initiatives contribute to preparing a generation that is conscious of community issues and capable of actively serving the nation. He added that the university is keen to support activities that promote the values of giving and volunteerism, in addition to strengthening the healthcare system, especially in light of the ongoing need for a safe blood supply in hospitals.

For his part, Colonel Mohamed Maher, Director of the Military Education Department at Alexandria University, stated that the participation of the Popular and Military Defense Forces in organizing this campaign comes as part of their awareness-raising and community role, as well as their commitment to enhancing a sense of belonging and responsibility among students. He added that such initiatives help instill the values of volunteerism and raise young people’s awareness of the importance of positive community participation, praising the strong turnout, which reflects students’ national awareness and their readiness to help save lives.

Participants also expressed their happiness in taking part in the campaign, affirming their willingness to repeat this meaningful humanitarian experience, given its direct impact on saving lives and strengthening cooperation among students.
