
As part of its commitment to strengthening international collaboration and exchanging academic and research expertise with leading global universities, Alexandria University welcomed a delegation from Saint Petersburg State University, headed by Dr. Anna Tsetsitskaya, Vice Rector and Director of the University, to discuss avenues for cooperation across various academic and research fields, as well as the potential establishment of a joint research unit to support collaborative scientific projects funded by both institutions.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Hisham Saeed, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research; Dr. Ali Abdel Mohsen, Supervisor of the International Relations Office; Dr. Jehan Guivel, Assistant to the President for Internationalization and International Branches; Dr. Ayman Shatiwi, Dean of the Faculty of Business; Dr. Sherine Nossier, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Political Science; Dr. Naglaa Abu Agag, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Arts for Graduate Studies and Research; and Dr. Lana Habib, Executive Director of the Center for Teaching Arabic to Non-Native Speakers.
The Russian delegation included Prof. Maria Kiseleva, Head of the International Relations Office; Dr. Milana Iloshina, Head of the Department of Middle Eastern and African Studies; and Dr. Maria Solusheva, Deputy Director of the Institute of Asian and African Studies.
During the meeting, Dr. Ahmed Adel Abdel Hakim emphasized Alexandria University’s keenness to expand cooperation with prestigious international universities, highlighting the importance of building strategic partnerships that contribute to advancing education and research, while aligning educational outcomes with labor market needs. He also stressed the importance of strengthening collaboration in applied fields and linking scientific research with the industrial sector, transforming research outputs into products and services that support the national economy and sustainable development goals—particularly in advanced technological fields, most notably artificial intelligence and its applications—while leveraging the university’s Technopark to support industry-oriented applied research projects.
For their part, the delegation from Saint Petersburg State University expressed their appreciation for Alexandria University’s distinguished status and long-standing history, affirming their interest in strengthening joint cooperation in education and scientific research, particularly in applied fields. They also emphasized the importance of knowledge exchange to support innovation and strengthen the link between research and industry, with a focus on artificial intelligence, digital transformation, and joint projects implemented through the Technopark.
Both sides discussed opportunities for collaboration in artificial intelligence, exchanging expertise in academic and research programs related to the field, and activating cooperation through Alexandria University’s Technopark to support joint projects serving the industrial sector, enhancing technology transfer, and applying research outcomes in real-world contexts.
The meeting also included presentations introducing the Russian delegation to Alexandria University—its history, academic programs, international agreements, and dual degree programs with American, European, Asian, and African universities—along with its international branches (existing and under development), global rankings, and centers of excellence.
The Russian side also delivered a presentation on Saint Petersburg State University, highlighting its long history, key faculties and academic programs, distinguished research areas, global rankings, as well as its experience in international cooperation and academic exchange programs.
