Under the auspices of Dr. Ahmed Adel Abdel Hakim, Acting President of Alexandria University, and Dr. Affaf Al-Oufy, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, the University’s Anti-Violence Against Women Unit organized an awareness seminar in cooperation with the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood. The seminar aimed to highlight the importance of volunteer work and its role in supporting efforts to combat violence against children and promote community engagement among university youth.
The seminar was held in conjunction with Egypt’s celebrations of the National Women’s Day, emphasizing the importance of raising community awareness of protection issues, combating violence, and supporting the role of youth in promoting a culture of respect for the rights of children and women within society.

Dr. Manal Fouda, Executive Director of the Anti-Violence Against Women Unit at Alexandria University, affirmed that organizing the seminar reflects the University’s commitment to raising awareness of child protection issues and encouraging students to engage in volunteer and community activities. She noted that such efforts contribute to preparing young cadres capable of supporting development initiatives and serving society.
She added that cooperation with the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood represents an important step in introducing students to national mechanisms for child protection and providing them with real opportunities to participate in volunteer initiatives and activities that help promote a culture of child protection and combating violence.

The seminar was attended by a number of coordinators from the University’s Anti-Violence Against Women Unit. It was delivered by members of the “Shebak” Volunteer Unit of the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood in Cairo, who reviewed areas of volunteerism as well as the programs and activities implemented by the Council in support of childhood and motherhood issues.
The event was attended by around 150 male and female students from various faculties of Alexandria University. Students actively engaged with the seminar topics and were introduced to available volunteering opportunities and registration methods through the Council’s volunteering page. A QR code was also provided to facilitate registration and access to further information.
