
The Community Service and Environmental Development Council at Alexandria University convened its meeting under the chairmanship of Prof. Affaf Al-Oufy, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development.
The Council began its session by extending its congratulations to Prof. Abdel Aziz Konsowa on the issuance of the Presidential Decree appointing him Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, wishing him continued success in his new role.
The Council also congratulated Prof. Walid Abdel Azim, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, on his appointment as Governor of the Red Sea; Prof. Ahmed Adel Abdel Hakim, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, on being assigned to act as President of the University; and Prof. Wael El-Maghlani, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Engineering for Education and Student Affairs, on being appointed Acting Dean of the Faculty of Engineering.
In addition, the Council extended its sincere congratulations to Eng. Ayman Ibrahim Attia on his appointment as Governor of Alexandria, affirming its appreciation for the fruitful cooperation between the University and the executive authorities of the governorate, and its commitment to supporting development efforts and serving the Alexandrian community.

The Vice President commended the efforts of the faculty vice deans for Community Service and Environmental Development in preparing and actively participating in the “Month of Goodness” initiative in celebration of the holy month of Ramadan. She emphasized the importance of directing food aid and meals to eligible beneficiaries, reinforcing the values of social solidarity within the University. She also affirmed the continuation of the University’s community convoys organized in cooperation with civil society institutions to support villages and remote areas and to help alleviate burdens on the most vulnerable groups.
The Council reviewed the illustrated report on the University’s Smart Waste Management Initiative, highlighting its objectives, application procedures, and participation areas, while stressing that all students are welcome to participate individually or in teams.
The Council approved the renewal of the appointment of Prof. Fahmy Charl, Emeritus Professor at the High Institute of Public Health, as an external member of the Community Service and Environmental Development Council for a two-year term.
The meeting also discussed a number of activities, workshops, seminars, initiatives, and training courses organized by the University’s faculties and institutes during January and February 2026, as part of supporting the University’s community role and strengthening its contribution to community service and environmental development.
